  1. Thanks all for your posts and private messages. I really appropriate your thoughts. I just love this forum!
  2. Ladies I'm looking for some wedding dress advice. I'm trying to stick to my budget but of course once you start looking things can get out of hand. I haven't found a dress yet but I was wondering if I see a great dress I love can I justify the cost by planning to sell it afterwards? Does that work? Are they easy to find buyers for? Have many of you been able to sell the dress after and recoup some (half??) of the cost? Is it realistic to plan to sell if after or should I just stick to my oh so small budget. Would love to hear from the forum voices of experience
  3. If you could find out if they need maternity clothes or what exactly they want that would be great. Thanks
  4. Does anyone know where I could donate maternity clothes locally-ish? I would like them to go to a mother and baby home type of place but cant find any info online where would be best to send them to. I would prefer to do this than a regular charity shop any suggestions ?
  5. I wish we could have the Fish & Chips by the seaside :-( Thanks for all the tips... looking forward to my dinner tonight
  6. We have an overseas guest who want some proper British fish and chips for dinner. Can anyone recommend somewhere in ED that got good fish and chips take away or eat in, pub or fish bar that's kid friendly. I'm not a fan of the sea cow ..... Cheers
  7. Have PM'd you.
  8. Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments and let you know how we got on. After contacting the clinic at Kings I was told I would need a lactation referral to get it done so I decided to go to one of the breastfeeding cafes thinking there was nothing wrong with our feeding. In the few days before we were due to attend the breastfeeding my babies feeding did start to get worse, the feeds were short and very close together and I she wasnt draining my breast properly. The lactation consultant took one look in her mouth and refereed us on the spot and we had her tongue tie cut a few days later. Turns out it was quite sever and although I didn't think it was effecting her feeding the sensation during feeding after was so different. They told me she wasn't covering her gum when feeding but I thought the slight pain was all part of the feed. Although shes was a chubby baby it was still effecting her feeding so I guess not all tongue tie babies show poor weight gain as a result. Im glad I ignored her weight and got it checked anyway the difference has been amazing although I did have to re-train her to feed correctly.
  9. I feel its very easy to call for the nursery to be closed immediately and that people would take their kids out straight away. However I dont think anyone saying that has their kids going to Oaktree. East Dulwich needs more nurseries not less. As far as I know there are no nurseries you can call up in our area that will give you child a place tomorrow. wait list are very long. If the nursery closes the parents and children will be in a horrible situation. The kids attending there know the environment, have lovely little friends and are settled. I agree with Convex, we need to see how they react to this and move on.
  10. Thank you everyone for your messages!!!!!!! Im going to have it looked at anyway and see what the experts say. If anyone would like to suggest who to take her to that would be great. Shes feeding ok now but still extremely regularly, around every 1.5 - 2hrs day and night and the feeds dont last long, max 10mins, so Im wondering is feeding tiring for her. I haven't had her weighted since we were discharged by the community MW but shes "chunky", seems to be getting bigger for sure and not damaging my nipples while feeding so it doesn't appear to effect her now but as some people have suggested it may in a few weeks time. Thanks for taking the time to reply. It means a lot to hear stories from other local people. Much appreciated !
  11. Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has had a baby with a tongue tie but has been able to breast feed no problem. My 1st baby had a tongue tie and was unable to feed, it was a total nightmare and we got referrals for him and he had it cut at the clinic in Kings at 2 weeks old. My 2nd baby born recently also has a tongue tie, however she has been able to breast feed no problem. I know it can effect speech in the future but usually doesn't. I am wondering if I should go private and get it dealt with to avoid future problems or should it be left alone? All info I can find online is only about dealing with it if there is a feeding problem. I had a tongue tie as a baby but was able to feed, speech was not effected but had to get it cut as a teenage due to dental issues. anyone got any experience of this ?
  12. Thanks all for your input. Great suggestions !!!
  13. I am hoping to meet some friends for a week night dinner with a new baby. From ED the easiest meet up suggested location seems to be London Bridge. I dont need a kids food menu, baby will only be a few weeks old but need changing facilities and somewhere that is ok with a breastfeeding and likely crying unsettled baby at times. I don't fancy Wagamamma as I really want somewhere with decant chairs so I can breast feed. Anyone got any suggestions of where to go?
  14. we have a smart trike and it doesn't get loads of use, the cant really peddal for ages. We have ones of these toddle bikes and love it. Light so toddler can carry it, stable with 4 wheels to get on and off and narrow enought to make getting toddlers leg over easy. Scooting around the house and we recently started taking it to the park. http://www.toddlebike.co.uk/
  15. we have a roll of recycled paper we use, its brown so we decorate it with stamps, for xmas we have snowflake stamps, for birthday we have other stamps, you get the idea. hate wrapping paper espically the type that you cant recycle that has foil in it.
  16. Sophia, the moderator sets up the "summer babies 2014" group. Last years "summer babies (due June, July, Aug 2013) was started in December. The spring babies one appeared when I was 12weeks pregnant or so. Im sure it will be up on the forum soon for all the moms due in summer.
  17. Great, I'll look out for the table of bumps ! See you at 10am.
  18. sounds good to me. I hope to come along toddler-free.
  19. Emma, we are due on exactly the same day!!!!!!!! and since I'm Irish everyone is finding it very amusing. 17th and 24th also work for me too!
  20. Hey sct, thanks for offering to organising. The 16th sadly is no good for me but hopefully the 23rd works for all ? I haven't been to ToastED yet either so that sounds great. At least it?s not too big, I did hear a story of another forum baby group meeting in the actress and because they didn?t know what each other looked like half the group was sitting on one side the pub while the other were around the corner all night and both groups were puzzled why only half the people showed up he he he he. Looks like there?s only 7 of us so far, looking forward to it.
  21. Hi ladies, No2. is due in March also, when no1. will be 23 months. Id love to meet up too, evenings after 7, friday with toddler in tow or weekend work for me. Hopefully we can work something out that suits most people. Looking forward to it.
  22. Hi all, I have a 17 month old boy with number two due in March also. I would be keen to meet some second time mums with new ones on the way, I'll keep an eye on this thread. Hope everyone is feeling good. I.m finding its a whole different ball game second time around with a toddler on the go.
  23. We got the dream for our son and its great. I posted about it ages ago and someone from Smart Trike actually saw my post and replied, it was odd. I think they were trying to be all over the social media. Anyway this is what the guy said the difference between the two I was looking at, I hope it helps Differences between the Premium and Dream: 1. Rain cover ? Premium has one, Dream does not. 2.Parent handle ? Dream has 5 position parent handle, Premium has 2 position parent handle. 3.Dream has a toy phone 4.Rear Brake ? Dream has one, Premium does not. 5.Both have the touch steering technology, that enables to easily maneuver the trike with the slightest touch like a stroller!
  24. Hi My son has been going there since March, hes in the baby room and so far all is going great. The staff are really lovely and very helpful. Hes seems to like it, they do a range of stuff and I also love seeing the photos of what hes been up to at the end of each week. Im really pleased with my decision to send him there. I know its so daunting chosing a nursery, if you want to PM me any questions Id be happy to help out.
