Ann Dobson cut my daughter's posterior tongue tie on my sofa (after it had been missed by several other people!). I would thoroughly recommend her, I wish I'd gone with my gut and got her in earlier than 10 weeks. I had an appointment within a day or so of calling her. Her details are on her website. She was recommended to me by a friend who also used her to help with tongue tie breastfeeding issues.

What about all of the women over 30 who are having IVF for male fertility reasons, not their own?!

We used a Moses basket until 3 months and then moved onto an inherited Bednest which I wished I'd had from the start! We used it until our daughter outgrew it at 7 months at which point we moved her into her own room. The Bednest has a side which folds down so it's easy to access for feeding and I always used it with the side up for sleeping so we never properly co-slept as the baby was in her own space. Our daughter transitioned into her room pretty easily.

Bessemer Grange Children's Centre usually run (free) 6 week baby massage courses. Their timetable will be on the website. BG is in North Dulwich so not far from you if you are in HH. The staff are lovely!

Landscaper/gardener recommendations wanted
Sonners replied to Sonners's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for this Saffron, Will is coming to see us this afternoon! -
We are moving soon and I want to get our new garden landscaped to make better use of it for our two year old so I wondered if anyone had a recommendation for a firm who were good at incorporating interesting child-friendly aspects to a design? For example, there are a couple of trees to be taken down but the roots stop at a level a few feet about the main garden so I would love for a slide/climbing frame to be incorporated into the split level. I have lots of ideas from Pinterest but have no idea how feasible they are! Any recommendations gratefully received.

My GP wouldn't order it in for me - the nurse looked at me like I had two heads when I asked but maybe I was unlucky!

I had my 2 year old vaccinated at the Health Hub in Herne Hill. I was very impressed with their service and would recommend.

Bugaboo Bee 3 - Carrycot or just cocoon?
Sonners replied to klh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The carrycots are fairly new, they weren't around 2 years ago when I bought my Bee and the cocoon worked fine. A carrycot would have been nice at times but for ?200 that's a lot of expense for not many days when the cocoon might not do the job just as well. If you will be using public transport a lot then the cocoon will help to keep the buggy light. That said, I imagine the carrycot would retain a fairly high resale value. -
Frozen-themed week at nursery.

I have just seen this letter as my husband picked up my daughter yesterday. There is no way I will be coming up with costumes for my 2 year old for the 3 days she attends. She has seen half of the film once so is unlikely to understand the reference. I might try and turn a white vest into a snowman but that's about it! The whole thing seems unnecessary to me. -

Meningitis B and Chicken Pox vaccines
Sonners replied to tarafitness's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I went to the Health Hub today to get my toddler vaccinated against chicken pox. I was very impressed. Helpful receptionists when booking, next day appointment, nice doctor and facilities and the appointment was on time. They also gave me a 20% discount as they didn't mention in the first enquiry call that a booster shot was recommended 4 weeks later (although I was already aware of that). Thanks Edanna for posting about them, I didn't know they were there. I've been trying to sort out a vaccination for a few weeks but had got nowhere due to an unhelpful GP and the clinic in Camberwell never answered the phone the 4 times I tried them. -
We have 2 Ebac dehumidifiers which are not too big and the customer service was excellent when one developed a fault within the warranty. They are very effective, especially if you shut the door to the room they are on in. We have had some success removing mould so I would try to do that before painting over.

Entertaining a toddler while breastfeeding - tips please!!
Sonners replied to hmt1979's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My toddler likes to play with things on our home made light box. We have quite a lot of cheap things we use which I found from reading blogs about light box use - there are lots if good ones and pictures on Pinterest if you use that. You could have it next to you on the sofa so you're playing on the same level. -
We did Ariadne's class 2 years ago and I would highly recommend them. She is fantastic and we made some good friends.

When I opened my dayghter's account the young saver account rate was better than the JISA so there was no point tying the money up until 16 like a JISA does. You don't say how much he is likely to earn but in my opinion a JISA is only worth doing if he will utilise all of his personal income tax allowance. A FTSE linked fund could be a good investment if the money is not needed over the medium to long term as it should outperform cash on deposit on that timeframe but there is an element if risk.

We had a similar issue with a nursery who told us there would be a place and then we heard nothing from them. We complained in the end and got a refund of the ?50.

We called out Camilla from Capital Bees when we had a similar problem although ours had moved on by the time she came out. I think they die off or move on in September so if you can wait a few weeks you might find the problem solves itself. If you do a search on here for bees then I found some info when I was looking at this problem in May.

Have you had a labour debrief? I had one at Kings a few months ago (when my daughter was 14 months so quite long after the event) and I found it really helpful, although not for the reasons I thought I would! I had an EMCS first time round due to a placental abruption at 37 weeks and it was all very quick. In the waiting room at 1am and baby out by 4am and she was then whipped away whilst they spent another hour trying to work out if I was bleeding from a secondary site. We're thinking about No. 2 so I wanted to know what happened first time round as there was very little explanation at the time, and I wanted to know whether it was something that was likely to happen again or specific to that pregnancy. I went in 100% sure that if I ever had another baby I would have an ELCS (but I didn't find recovery too bad first time) and I came out only 80% sure I might want an ELCS. I'm not even pregnant so all could change but I would highly, highly recommend asking for a labour debrief if you've not had one. I found it very therapeutic and I hadn't felt it was a difficult birth before I went in. Then again, I'd not really thought about it full stop as we soon had a baby who wouldn't feed to deal with instead which overshadowed it all! Good luck and ignore anyone who tells you about their amazing birth experience. They are the lucky ones and will never understand the difficulties others face I don't think.

advice needed on transfer of property
Sonners replied to Jellybeanz's topic in The Family Room Discussion
What sort of advice are you looking for? Tax? Legal? Will the relative remain living there? Is their Estate likely to be near the IHT threshold? Is it a gift or are you buying it? If it's a gift then you might have to apply to the Court of Protection despite having PoA, but I'm not a legal expert. I can give you some pointers on the tax issues with some more details. There's also the Deprivation of Assets rules to think about in respect of care home fees in the future if that might be an issue. -
Yes, mine came back on just as I posted which was a bit spooky!

It's out on Pellatt Road as well. Thanks for reporting and letting us know when it might be back on Ulsted.

Sonners replied to ACBP's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Tas on Borough a High Street for Turkish food or Pizza Express on Lonfon Bridge are both child friendly options. -

Does anyone know how you can check if a property has a tree with a preservation order on it? I've tried looking at Southwark's website but can't seem to find a list. Does anyone know if a list exists? Maybe I need to contact Southwark directly to ask? Any help gratefully received.
