There has been a car abandoned outside my house in Oglander Rd for nearly 3 months now & I'm getting a bit sick of it. The council are not interested in responding either by phone or email & the police don't seem interested either. It's a blue Ford Focus, unlocked & taxed. It's a perfectly good car & much newer than mine, so I presume it's been stolen & dumped. If anyone has any bright ideas please let me know. If anyone would like to do something with it, it's YJ82 MHD & it's between Marsden & Muschamp. Oglander

Has the Ticket Office at ED station really closed? What has happened to the people who worked there? A month ago Richard went a long way out of his way to help a friend who had a problem there & I have a card for him which I can't deliver. Does anyone know where he might have gone?

Aria came to replace some taps & he was wonderful. He came on time, did the job quickly & was pleasant. I have postponed this job for years because no one could recommend a plumber but now we have one!

I go to Prague regularly & have a lot of sympathy with the people who live there under siege from tourists. Yes, taxis do have different fares for foreigners & I never take them despite speaking Czech fairly well. From the airport, take the 119 bus to Dejvicka where you can get onto the Metro which is a good system. You don't need taxis there as trams are good & frequent - just make sure you have a valid ticket. Letna plain is lovely to walk in - make sure you see the giant metronome that replaces Stalin's monument up there - & also Petrin woods - you can walk up to the 'Eiffel tower'. Vysehrad is lovely too & you can walk there along the river, or by tram if it's too much for the children.

I had 5 instant responses to my last thread but then nothing once it was no longer on page 1.Do we have to keep starting again? I suppose so. Oglander

Lousiana- How nice to get your message! Yes, it is SSEES, a bit under pressure as Eastern Europe isn't as 'exciting' as it was, but still going. I'm luckily not penniless as I still teach a bit - I was a viola player most of my life but now have too many shoulder problems to play but can still teach. I also have a lot of younger friends which is lovely, but London leaks people & I do miss my old frieds! I don't know whether it's an 'issue' or not- I'd like both. There are very few mature students at SSEES, I've only ever seen 1, & no one doing Czech - I'm very fond of the young ones but they're younger than my own children so I'm always being their 'mum'. That's fine but I'd love to have a good freak with another oldie when it gets tough! What would you have done research into if you had taken it up?

Czech. There are reasons, but too complicated to write on this machine!

So many friends have left London that, although I've lived here for over 30 years, my social life seems to have shrunk horribly -is anyone else in the same position? I'd love to meet more nice people & I'm sure that there are plenty around! I'm in my 50s, self-employed & a (mature, obviously!)student at UCL. Oglander.
