No one checked his tongue and I didn't even know about such a thing ie the membrane on the bottom of the tongue being very tight and almost stuck to the base of the mouth.Official name I think is a tight frenum. Exclusively breastfed, knew exactly what to do as did the same for son 1, however baby relied on let down as incapable of working the breast for the hind milk. He had 6 week check at 10 weeks as they couldn't fit him in at the surgery, whereupon the HV tells me she has suspected all along he has this condition and will need op to release the tongue. He had the surgery at Kings one week later, got infected, wouldn't take breast or bottle, you can imagine the stress.I told the HV her actions were immoral etc, left that surgery asap.So what's the point of all this?Please ask for your baby to have this checked in hospital or straightaway by midwife if home birth. This thing is not picked up in scans. Good news is boy 2 is healthy and talks very well and loves life even though he eats like a little bird, too busy enjoying life.

Dear peppermintpatty, I discovered Green Park has a lift which is fab from Brixton which also has a lift, then you have an enjoyable walk up Regent Street,see the xmas lights, face Hamleys then bus #3 OR 159 to Brixton.

Dear Vickster, my friend's daughter attended 4 years ago and I have heard mixed reviews in the years that have passed. It's so hard to choose and no one school will be perfect, my own go to a catholic school, I'm always intrigued how faith schools seem to get it right, if possible consider that avenue. Dear Reader, do not vilify me!

Dear Vickster, A close friend of mine sent her daughter to Oakfield and wasn't impressed with how they taught phonics and reading. I have primary teaching experience and it is imperative that a school adopt a well thought out scheme, such as Letterland for the Foundation Stage, I'm assuming your child is at this stage. I gathered that Oakfield chopped and changed all the time and her 4 year old daughter just got so confused and refused to read in the end. I sincerely hope things have changed.Ultimately a happy child makes the best learner.

It's outdoors but I've had two parties by Brockwell Park Cafe and taken a parachute game and home made bean bags for kids to play games.The kids got fresh air,there is hot drinks or whatever you fancy from the cafe and you can always check out the lido cafe or have a whippersnapper party session there inside and you're not rushing to leave. I've also had a party in the bowling green area of Ruskin Park which was a huge success in April because the area is private,confined by wall boundary and free. That was for a 3 year old and I catered for about 20 kids and parents too. I got take away style containers and put edibles in there for the children

My son who is eight and a half loves singing and is very upset because he has been told by a singing master that his pitch is completely off even though he has a "voice" and passed the audition in the first place. I can't afford lessons but I was wondering if I can access something free or very cheap for him to get his interest up again.
