I decided to change my swim/gym membership to outside the borough with Better a few years back because I was so appalled by the way ED and Camberwell pools were maintained - and just after the expense of the refurbs. Better knows how to run gyms and pools. I hope it gets the Southwark contract

yes edanna i have been to charlton since the refurb. to me it felt like an east german prison camp . . . it's so drab. where's the colour? the pool is fine but the rest . . . it's just all concrete and brick. could do with a few giant potted trees or . . . something.

London Fields works brilliantly and heated all year. but Charlton is grim Covent Garden excellent but short, Brockwell freezing Hampton, very pleasant, heated all year not swum at Tooting or Gospel Oak or Crouch End outdoors (the indoor pool is best avoided) it is a shame there is not a large outdoor pool for year-round use somewhere in the borough

i got a taxicard when in treatment. crazy thing was that i couldn't get a freedom pass. the council would pay for cabs but not give me a card to use an existing service for free. i thought it was bonkers

actuall brilliant not having to traipse up from the back of the station every day. hope platforms 15 and 16 get extended towards the main concourse. in the renovation

i got a ticket there once . . . the first time i drove up rye lane. commiserations

I wrote to them some time ago about water being too warm and chlorine triggering wheezing. And the reply was lame. I swim at Tower Hamlets or Crystal Palace now. A lot of travelling but one can swim in the pools.

the reopening of the ell through new cross gate was early if i remember correctly??
