Totally untrue, South norwood like most places have their dark spots, however it is truly a lovely place. Most people who I have spoken to in ED are moving to Norwood/Anerly/Penge, beacuse they know, they will get more Sq foot for their hard erned money.

Hi I would also like to recommend Terry, My electricity went off last night, he came round today, and resolved the issue. Thank you Terry, you are an angel.

New wave it depends where in South Norwood. I have a property just by Norwood country park, with the nature reserve. Nearest tram link Croydon Arena. They are regenerating South Norwood, in the next year, then watch the house prices go up. 3 bed terraced houses are going for about ?300-?350. I live round the corner in Shirley, prices again around the same, tram links from Elmers end. This area of Croydon is really up and coming, I would not dismiss it.

Have to thank the lovely ladies from the charity shop on the corner, who were on scene with the lady who was knocked over. One of the ladies is a nurse, she comforted her throughout the ordeal. Hope the lady is ok, sending her lots of love and healing. -

I live in Shirley, very near To Beckenham, its a lovely place, and the high street is fantastic. Dont knock it, you do not know what you are missing. :)) -
i moved to Shirley, and its a delight. Down the road from Beckenham, which is stunning, and the high street, is great. And house prices, still very affordable.

Mickey made a lot of references to ED in his Tour de france programme. Not a fan, however I have met him a few times, and he is a lovely man :)

I heard the bikes were going to go to Brixton, then were coming to Dulwich after. A few years ago, SNUB my old green group, were at a meeting with Boris, and after we presented Mr Johnson with a SNUB bag, we asked about the bikes, and I am sure I heard Brixton being mentioned. Mr Johnson does like Dulwich, but Brixton will probably get the Santander bikes first. Edited for typo

Hi Sue When i got married in 1998, we rented rooms above the old wishing well, for my inlaws. The rooms were affordable and were very nice. My inlaws, were not fussy, being from Belfast, you would not be. :)But they loved the place, and the owners back then, the McCanns, laid on a great pre and post wedding party for us. Now thats what I call a good pub.And the ales were great :) Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > stevie23b Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > hope its not another victoria the old wishing > > well went from a not bad local with affordable > > digs do we really need another clone > > > Whatever you may think of the Victoria, The > Wishing Well never had any ale on latterly - the > original pub with no beer, in fact - and so far as > I know it never rented out rooms, affordable or > not? > > Despite the lack of ale I was quite fond of The > Wishing Well, and maybe I have led a sheltered > life, but it was the only place round here when I > have been scared to come out of the loo because of > what was going on outside it :( > > It did once have a good Kraftwerk Tribute Night > though :))

LOL im a bit of a petrol Head, I own an Alfa, and I love crazy car movie, with crazy stunts, and cars going so fast, you are there, with them:) To me that is a classic:) Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Otta Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > monica Wrote: > > > -------------------------------------------------- > > > > You cant watch classics like Fast and Furious > 1-7 on a small screen. > > Vin Diesel and The Rock sharing the screen. First Mate, I assume you have been to the Elephant and Castle recently? The estate sitting there empty for years, while housing crisis was going, then the sale of local authority housing to private landlords, making a quick buck. And where are we yet again, another housing crisis, so sell of green spaces, to create more living spaces. And the eternal cycle of money grabbing councils goes on. And no doubt we will be having this conversation in another 7 years. We need to break this cycle, how??? lets see if someone can come up with something different, without selling off playing fields, we need for our children!!!! Edited wrong word used
-
Signed, What really angers me, is that Southwark have the highest rate of obesity in School Children, yet they are selling of the green spaces. I know this is down to those money hungry $$$$oles at Dulwich Estates, however Southwark do need to get a grip, at what point, will they see the point of their stupid mindless actions.

Blimey guys talk about taking the joy out of going to the cinema. You watch TV 5 or 6 days a week, Cinema is a destination, its a night out enjoying film with friends and family. You cant watch classics like Fast and Furious 1-7 on a small screen. Utterly impossible. Bring on the popcorn crunching and the loo trips, all part of the experience guys;) -
I use to live on Woodvale, until a month ago, and the only thing that was slowing the traffic down, were the humps. Motorists would speed along the vale, and nobody was monitoring speed. My commute to my new home in Shirley, includes Sydenham Hill, where 20mph is actually being observed, by the motorists, and its actually a nice change, opposed to the motorists on Lordship Lane, where I work, who have clearly forgotton there is speed limit.

Signed, I hope we will in part some of the scheme, come to our part of Southwark. Seeing the scheme work so well in the Elephant and Castle, may motivate TFL into bringing the scheme, further South into the Borough.

Mariebee, so happy to hear you are ok. And thank you for the update. Take care of yourself, sending you lots of love and healing. x

There was a consultation on the Jct of Lordship Lane and ED Grove a couple of years ago to install traffic lights. However I recall that TFl would not fund the lights, and the Jct was too narrow for lights??? What will it take for TFL and Southwark Council to do something, re this very dangerous Jct. James if you are reading this, something needs to be done now. I recall we were told, too install traffic lights at the jct, it would of cost TFl ?60000. A drop in the ocean in comparison to the amount of accidents and near misses. Hopefully the cyclist is ok, sending lots of love and healing energy to her.

BT broadband - anyone else suffering poor performance?
monica replied to Sporthuntor's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh dear, I have been flirting with the idea of moving from Sky to BT, however this thread has enlightened me. Im on Woodvale, and we do have really bad reception with the Mobile phones. -
Blimey, thats scary, I live on Woodvale, and I use the shop just by Langton Rise. Hope the victim is ok. Those guys are cowards.

One hour free parking in the area...
monica replied to easytiger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As someone who works in ED and lives in woodvale, I try to be mindful of where I park, when coming to work. I do walk to work, however in the winter months, I will drive, and I do work until 9pm on a couple of evenings a week so I will drive to work. The world would be a perfect place, if we could park outside our own homes, however that is no longer an option, unless you have off street parking. We as ED need to realise while we believe we do live in this great place, and those who want too live in this great place, there are compromises, which is parking. Parking outside your own home is now a luxury. Restricted parking will not make any difference, in my opinion. I believe they are trying to introduce restricted parking, because very shortly ED picture house will be opening, which will impact parking, moreso at the weekends. -
.. Have edited post re latest news re Rev charles. Utterly unbelievable, I knew him for years, and always thought he was a very kind man. Speechless.

I suggest you speak to someone who has lived in both the south and North of Italy, oh that would be me. You are being stereo typical about the Italians. Italians are very open with their food, they share their passion for food with everyone who wants to learn about Italian cuisine. We have regional dishes, in Venice we have risotto, In Brindisi, game. We share and we love. Lets get back on topic now folkes, this thread as gone way off topic. Grazie
