  1. Thecat there is endless pages of nonsense chat, mainly re the planning for the last 7 years and now the opening will carry on the nonsense chat for another 7 years. M and S is on the site of the old Iceland's store. Lovely store, great addition.
  2. Mary's living and giving have organised a week of workshops in East Dulwich,in association with Fantasy high street. you may have seen the cute bunnies in the window :) It started on Saturday and finishes on the 11th September. If you want to your children along to any of the workshops, they are free and I think its a great way to learn arts and crafts. And the 2 lovely ladies on stilts entertaining the shoppers on the lane were a great addition to the festivities.
  3. Its a lovely shop, and Maria and her son are very helpful. I went in to say Hi and have a look round, and I know I will be back on the bag making course. Materials are lovely and she has everything you need to make dresses, quilts, cushions etc. lovely Jubbly welcome to Lordship Lane Maria ;)))))
  4. What a shame, ED has wanted an M&S for years, we get one and all you do is complain, you guys are never happy. Its suitable for the area, they stock up every morning and during the day, I am assuming they are going to address the stock issues once they have a better idea of footfall.let them get on with it and please a lit bit more positivity in the mean time.

    new M&S

M&S is a great addition to the Lane, and as far as parking is concerned, most people walk to the stores on the Lane. Positivity is what we need dear eddeal1:::)))
  6. kibris Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > She is a begger with an accordion This lovely lady bring love and light to the lane, she is always very smiley and she plays the accordion well. I saw the other beggars having a ciggy break on Matham grove, then taking turns to go and beg outside the COOP. I know who I would gladly give some money too.
  7. It is lovely, brings a touch of the med to Lordship lane.
  8. Lorenzos in Crystal palace is really nice, its an authentic Italian Restaurant the food is great and the atmosphere is lovely. Try Lorenzos when they open up again, I am sure you will be very pleasantly surprised.
  9. I have spoken to the relevant authorities and they have said they are aware of it and it is in the process of being dealt with. I understand it is hard when people are forced to beg because they have no money, food or anywhere to live. However I do not agree with organised street begging, especially when there is a conman involved. Hopefully we wil see the end to this particular three Penny Opera/novel.
  10. Hi Joeleg No the beggar in question wears a baseball cap, thin, blonde and no moustache. His friend who acted as his "bodyguard" is a tall stocky fella with short grey hair, always by the coop, looks like an extra from a guy ritchie movie, very dodgy.
  11. I was by the COOP on Friday, and I witnessed a situation between one of the the homeless guys who normally begs for money outside the COOP and a lady with her accordion. We were enjoying the delights of the accordion music when a friend of the beggar came along and told her to move on, he then escorted her down the road and made sure she was not going to set up elsewhere on the lane, then gave the beggar a thumbs up to carry on begging. WTF is happening on Lordship lane, to add further insult I heard the beggar's friend say that he was going to rob the woman of her well earned buskers money.B*****d
  12. Hi I live in Croydon and work in ED, I commute by car and it really is not that bad, easiest way would be through Crystal palace down Anerley hill, then into Elmers end, turn right for Croydon. Another option would be Crystal park Rd into Penge Turn right on to Maple road, left on to Melvin Rd, on to croydon Rd, left into Elmers end. lots of different possibilities. Good luck
  13. Hi rubby The change will be the new shops added since the release of the last map, google maps is all well and good however the local independent map is more of a community map highlighting shops you may not necessarily see on other maps. We have many tourists in the area, working in ED we see lots of tourists who have come to Dulwich for the Hornimans museum, the Dulwich picture gallery, Northcross Rd market our lovely cafes and restaurants and amazing independent shops.
  14. There will also be a independent local map available soon, funded by Southwark council, project run by Madeline Worrall an East Dulwich Resident. The map will highlight all the local shops in and around the ED area, its a great map and ideal for visitors and tourists interested in ED. I will keep you updated on the progress of the independent local map.
  15. Billy and Scott are amazing they installed a new boiler for me, and radiator valves. They did a great job, highly recommended.
  16. It really makes no sense, there is no market on a Friday, apart from the odd stall, however lack of parking spaces is crazy, and yet they cannot free any space up on Northcross Rd??? East Dulwich is now a go to destination and with the cinema now open, and MnS due to open surely Southwark council really need to rethink its parking!!!! Come on Southwark look after the jewel in Southwark's crown and sort the parking out, and free up more spaces.
  17. SNUB have applied for these funds twice now, with no success.
  18. When I was living in the area, i was registered with the gardens, and always thought they were very nice. There is one particular lady, on the reception team who can be quite testy, however when you charmed her, she softened. It is one of the better Dr Surgeries, and Dr Stephens is a delight.
  19. We tend to forget at this time of year, its not jingle bells for everyone. I heard he was talked down safely and is now being cared for. Bless him
  20. Hi There have also been shoplifters on Lordship lane, who have successfully taken items from shops, we think to order. I have emailed James Barber about this and apparently they are looking into setting a scheme up with the police and shopkeepers. Burglary is rife in the Dulwich area at the moment, and it is getting worse.
  21. Loved the market research in the village, and Gails Bakery got a look in. Great TV
  22. Iv heard its going to be questionnaire. Forgive me if somebody has said this already, thread is too long to go back on :)
  23. Its taken this long to start charging for the bags, SNUB who gave out free shopper bags in East Dulwich in 2008, to help reduce the use of plastic, are now happy to finally see this happen in 2015. It is also nice to see the original SNUB bags, still being used in Dulwich, makes me tingle all over. After 7 years, the bags still look great.
  24. Does anyone know if Dulwich Hamlet will still be a collection point after today?
