Shawbury rd - Grand Designs tonight
monica replied to benfaulkner's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Other Grand design house is up by Woodvale, Langton rise behind the new build houses that were featured on Homes under the hammer. My this area has become so TV celebrity :) -
I was interested in a flat conversion on Mundania Rd, before I bought on Woodvale, the sound insulation was ok, and I only heard noises in the communal hallway. I viewed it about 3 times, before I offered, different times of the day, and I also took my brother for a second opinion. In the end I withdrew my offer because the lease was way too restricted. Those houses are lovely, I lived in one on Marmora Rd and the sound insulation was fine, only noise was in the communal hallway. Good luck with your purchase.

I agree, I cannot understand why ED need banners, I remember the first time when the local business community group wanted to install banners on to the lamp posts and the general consensus at the time from Southwark officers was, it was not a good idea and the expense was too much. The money should be put to good use, we need a community base, for the police and local council workers to use. We have literally no policing in the ED area, and with street crime and shop lifting so apparent in the area, money being spent on banners is just a bad idea. I was in the COOP a few weeks ago, and a guy with an M&S fleece walked in with 2 empty bags and walked out with 2 full bags, however he conveniently forgot to pay and did this twice in 10 minutes. I told staff and they just looked at me and shrugged????? Apparently having a security guard costs more then losses through theft.

The herbs need to be used, the beds are overgrown and need looking after. What is the point of having a community garden, if you cannot enjoy looking at the garden and using some of the herbs, they do grow back.
-
Hi edhistory The whole point of having a community garden is for the community to enjoy the garden, part of that is picking herbs, they can use for culinary and medicinal purposes. I don't think people are going to destroy the garden. Unfortunately the garden has been under used and we would the community to use the garden. The herbs are free, the reception staff in the hospital are not part of the garden team, however I am sure they are enjoying the garden.:)))))

Hi The community physic garden is what it actually says on the tin:) its a community garden you can use. My participation in the project was applying for funds to develop the garden, I also asked Mc Govern Design and Build to build and install the raised beds, which they did for free. We also applied for work in kind from Groundwork Southwark to help us with growing the herbs and running workshops on the medicinal use of herbs. Thanks

To today?s mattress flytipper on Horniman Drive
monica replied to Celt's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There have been bottles of yellow fluid found by the drains on Frogley Rd. If indeed there is unallocated funding from the Cleaner, Greener safer fund as discussed on another thread, it should be allocated to more CCTV around the Dulwich area. -
Hi All Just a reminder that we have a lovely Physic Garden in the front of Dulwich Hospital, East Dulwich Grove. Its a community physic garden, please help yourself to the herbs. Each raised bed has different themes, for example herbs to help you sleep, herbs to help with headaches and digestive herbs. The herbs are meant for topical use and not internal use. So inhalations or cushions made with the herbs. The Garden was installed 2011/2012 for the community, it would be great to see the garden being used. Thanks

Xmas sweets for the kids ward at kings THANK YOU!!!
monica replied to Fox_tail's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Foxtail Have you been up to the hospital yet? Apologies I have not been on here for a while, I would like to donate sweets to your great worthy cause, let me know if you are about. -
Seriously this thread has gone off the rails. Hillbilly unless you have been brought up in a bi lingual house where you are taught to speak one language at home and english everywhere else outside the home, then you have no idea what you are going on about.I have been speaking English and Italian from a very young age, If i want to speak english in front of non Italian speakers, then I will continue to do so. You have a very arrogant attitude, and who are you people??? What do you mean by you people???? You are very rude and seriously need to wind your neck in. I came on here to help console the op, and all i get is crap from you. Excuse me!!! I guess your not polite then, I am bi lingual and would never speak Italian in front on people who do not understand the language. So no I am not talking rubbish. Before we moved away, my hubby used the barbers just opposite Bells Kitchens, he always found them very pleasant and conversed with them lightheartedly, as you would in a Barbers. Hope you are feeling better Jim1234, it can be quite intimidating when that happens, first its rude to speak another language in front of someone who does not speak the language and second you did the right thing by calling them out on it ..

She does move around a bit though, and as I said I would gladly give my well earned money to her, begging or busking.

'Le Chardon' changing hands/being sold
monica replied to Fitzgeraldo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Le Chardon did a lovely Sunday brunch, food was lovely and the service was good. I do hope it will be replaced by an establishment equally as good!!!! I mean you can really expand your horizons with a burger place, just look at Macdonalds. ;))) -
Lordship Lane Post Office closed 2 days in a row
monica replied to sidebirds's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The sub post office on the Forest Hill Rd is very good, when I use to live on Woodvale I would use it a lot, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and you could always read the magazines while you are queuing. :) -
Plus another one in the Woodvale area, it was a house/studio.

Well said Jaywalker.

I have to say I have been posting on here for the last 8 years, and there have always been the posters who moan, those who moan about the moaners and lil ol me who just laughs at the craziness of it all. Move on let it go, the moment has passed we have what the majority had asked for, enjoy it. If you don't like it, don't go there if you do then go. Simple really
