Recommending Plumber - Hunter Heating Solutions
monica replied to HunterHtingSolutions's topic in Reviews
Billy is great, he's installed my boiler and serviced it. Bill has also undertaken heating installations for my family members. Highly recommended, Sir Billy I salute you. -
Im sorry to hear that, how awful it must of been for the guy with the buggy, and your mum. Where that particular zebra crossing is, there should be a pedestrian or traffic lights. More often then not, drivers do stop at the zebra, however I have used the zebra in the past, when taking my nieces to the toy shop, and on a few occasions, the driver stopped, when I was on the zebra. Since the council installed the traffic lights, at the ED Grove, Lordship Lane Jct, accidents have reduced.

I was with the Gardens for 5 years before I moved to Shirley, I can highly recommend them. My Dr was Dr Stephens, she is amazing, very helpful and thoughtful. -
What kind of shop/eaterie would you like to see on LL?

Hi Sue Apologies I meant 4. Hi Ozzy, there is nothing wrong with Peckham, its a cultural mix of hedonism, good food, great nightlife and a cheap cinema. :) -

With all due respect, Lordship lane is full of stores, very similar to each other, we have at least 6 or 7 pizza places, iv lost count. 9 cafes, and delis doubling up as cafes. about 5 delis, 5 whole food Healthstores. I really don't think people have an issue in repeating what we already have. -

Farmers on Lordship lane, just by GBK sell all things household and they are very fairly priced. I call them the treasure shop, due to them selling the most random products. -

ANI were so determined to open a shop on the lane, they were prepared to pay a premium rent.

Hi Penguin68 With all due respect about 25% of Lordship lane, are chains. Due to the rents being so high, chains are the only business who can afford the rent. The recent addition of the chain As Nature intended, pay ?5000pcm in rent. This chain have stores in Balham, Chiswick, Ealing, Marble arch other expensive locations. Chains like the mentioned store can afford the high rents, other small independent businesses, cannot.

I am serious, I have insider info, my contact knows everything. We have too many chains now, however the council are granting change of use, left right and centre. The council need money from every single avenue possible, they are not bothered about chains. We now how shops, that no longer have USPs, due to businesses opening up and piggy backing off existing businesses. Please don't be surprised in 5 years time when Lordship Lane, becomes another faceless high street.

Waitrose is opening up on Lordship lane, next door to Superdrug. Its the old William hill store.
-
Hi Louisa I prefer to support the independents where I possibly can. It really has nothing to do with "being seen to go in there". Its more to do with getting the advice I need, when I'm buying a product. i have used Superdrug in the past, and the advice I was given wasn't helpful. lol Superdrug and quality perfume should not be in the same sentence. Edmummy I agree Roullier white's perfumes are divine and last for years. I still have a the creed vetiver from 8 years ago, which is still gorgeous and fragrant.

Increasing fibre in your diet also helps, Vegetable based fibre binds to cholesterol, and stops it from absorbing into the bloodstream. Grain based fibres are ok, however Bell peppers, Aubergine and artichokes are great sources of fibre. Artichoke contains a rich source of Inulin, which has been found to help reduce cholesterol levels, also helps with sleep and blood sugar regulation. Try eating a high anti inflammatory diet, cut out sugars and wheat. High cholesterol can be a factor of high inflammation. Good luck

Cella I am happy you think I am scary, there is no way I would ever entertain the possibility of having your patronage in my store. You would put off both customers and staff, with that look of sour lemons on your face. You clearly think its your way or no way, typical of a politician really. You must be a politician :)
-
Cella, I have shared your comments, with my retail colleagues, they came on here, looked at your comments and laughed. Do you know why they laughed, because 99% who have commented on here do not agree with you. You are on your own little Island, waving in at us from the outside. Like I said, good luck with your quest, I am sure all your Friend are backing your cause. :) Take care I am waving bye bye

Cella, like everyone else on here I have every right to post without having to reveal who I am. All you need to know is I am part of the retail community, who has been dealing with the likes of you for many years. You are so self absorbed in your own little plight, you fail to look at the bigger picture. We are a community of Shop keepers who contribute to this community, by doing so we allow ourselves the privilege in putting street furniture on our land, to brighten up the lane and East Dulwich in general. I am not sure what your end game is, however you sir or madam are wrong.
-
Cella, I shall pass your concerns on to the shop keepers of Lordship lane. Please remember we all have a right to our opinions' and we share them freely with each other as a solid community of shopkeepers, who want to provide the continual customer care we provide. I look forward to sharing my colleagues response on here. Good luck on your nonsensical quest Cella.

Thank you Joeleg. I remember back in the 90s when we bought our premises and East Dulwich was nothing more then charity shops, pubs and curry houses. The only decent stores were SMBS and Greetings. Watching the tide change over the years has been an eyeopener, and just amazing. We are proud to be part of the community, and despite one or two negative people on here, I think this forum has been invaluable, to the community. There will always be a know it all, on here, however people like that will not deter me from posting. I was going to boycott this section and just focus on community projects, however Cella's last comment convinced me otherwise. Good luck Cella in your crusade, hope it doesn't get lonely up their on your higher ground. :) JoeLeg Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What on Earth...?? > > All we?re talking about here is shop owners > putting out A boards on land they own. Cella my dear, you are deliberately winding people up, I have read your comments and I have read other posts re your comments. I am not sure what else to say, as I said earlier. But you can't argue with stupid cella Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Chill Monica - if you are so confident about your > "legal rights" then you have nothing to fear from > Southwark. Double Double sigh. We pay our part in paying very expensive business rates. We have been open for 18 years, and not one person has made a comment about our A board, its pretty simple really. We own the land where its clearly marked by different tiles, so therefore we can do what we like with our land. You have no jurisdiction in what we do, as you ave nothing to do with my business. Simple enough, or do I need to make it even more simple. Its people like you that put people off from posting on here. Now I remember why I no longer post in the general section. I will be in the whats on section if you want to chat, unless you want to make stupid mindless comments on the Dulwich Physic garden. Double sigh cella, why are you assuming the owners are not interested??? I am one of the owners, with the Aboard on our property. I am not sure what else to say to you, just please stop your trolling, its tiring and ridiculous and just plain boring. cella Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > nxjen Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > The Southwark link describes advertising boards > > and displays of goods that are unauthorised. Cella nobody is anti mummy or buggies, I am trying to explain the situation re our private land, are you going to take out a compulsory purchase order for our 1/2 metre of shop frontage? That is what you will need to do, to try and stop the local shops from using their privately own land. We are going round in circles, next time you are having a coffee outside the coffee shop on lordship lane, think clearly re what you have said. Good luck with your plans with the removal of everything from the pedestrian pathway. Not sure the local mums and dads will be happy, when little tommy or Alice, cannot cycle on the path anymore, while mummy or daddy are cycling on the road.
-
Hi Pugwash Exactly, common sense at last, There is a visual difference between public highways pavement and private land, that is why we ensure our land is tiled and our A board is on our land. Realistically it is very difficult to negotiate Buggies, wheelchairs and shopping bags down lordship lane, when the pavements are 6 deep with people. However business rates are very high in East Dulwich especially Lordship lane, so you can imagine we the retailers want to optimise every bit of our privately owned land.
-
Cella, we are well within our rights to encroach on the area belonging to the business, not public highways. Not sure what you think you know, however its probably a good idea, if you undertake your research a little more thoroughly, before you make assumptions.
