  1. I don't actually mind them being there. They have a job to do and they are trying to do it. I am sure there is a reason for them being there and doubt they will want to share it with us. The guy with the sniffer dog was polite to us as we walked past and the ones outside the ticket office were chatting amongst themselves letting everyone get on with their business. I welcome greater police presence in the area, and have always found the local police very helpful.
  2. For the ultimate lunch you could walk over to gaucho in more london place. There are quite a few chains around there too like strada, amano, dim t. Brew wharf is a nice atmosphere. ROast is nice but a lot more expensive! There are of course plenty of stalls selling hot food but I assume you want a sit down meal?
  3. any updates on trains from LB to ED this eve? is all ok?
  4. Took the 17.58 train from London Bridge to ED and no problems. The path has also been sorted and is ice free - thank you Barry!
  5. on the 40 bus all seems fine. Fairly empty. Not much traffic about so far.
  6. Am still in the city considering leaving asap. A friend just texted to say all the buses are kicking people off at camberwell and no more are allowed up/down the hill. She is walking the last part and said denmark hill at standstill.
  7. http://uksnow.benmarsh.co.uk/ This real time snow map is quite cool!
  8. Its snowing lightly by the station!
  9. Seems to be working again now. thanks
  10. Great - thanks for the info!
  11. Ah nice one! let me know if you get any more info from them. thank you!
  12. Have you called Thames Water? I rang and they said they had no other complaints in the Copleston Road area? They have said they will send someone out in the next 8 hours to investigate.
  13. I am down by ED station and we have no water at the moment.
  14. I just walked all the way from London bridge as the station seemed closed and none of the buses had space. All buses seem to be terminating along the way. Walworth road was at a stand still. Denmark Hill and Dog Kennel Hill are very icy so going very slowly. I did see a train at Denmark Hill station heading towards London Bridge.
  15. Thank you Ann! Yay i did some votes too. So happy for team Cola!!
  16. I made no claims to be sane. Oh ok can you tell me who is going to win so I can save my pennies?
  17. Just watched he show but missed the numbers to vote and they dont add them to the website!!?? Does anyone have the number to vote for Chris? Thank you! Sazzle
  18. Glad to see I am on par with most people. We do ?50 if we are both invited to the whole thing so ?25 per person. Evening do's I give less, but I tend not to bother going if I just get invited to the evening unless its local. Is it just me or does anyone else feel a bit odd about attending if they only get invited to the evening do? It's a bit of a half invite, like some kind of inferior guest?

    Why???

Yep complete idiots and completely unjustified actions. Would have to disagree with you SteveT I can't understand people thinking they have the right to steal lead from others even if they are desperate. I did not appreciate being woken by youths clambering on my porch stealing the lead flashing. I consider that to be vindictive vandalism, (and criminal damage, and theft).
  20. I see you have something booked already but i recently bought someone tickets on the thames rib voyages boat cruise and they were really pleased with it. I also bought someone a cookery lesson at the jamie oliver place in clapham, I went along as well and we did rack of lamb! it was great fun you prepare it all there and then bring it home to cook. There are lots of different sessions you can do and you get a glass of wine included. Some of the stuff you make there and eat round the big table. It max 10 per group. Might be one for you next year! http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipease/index.html
  21. Definitely report it. It helps police build a more accurate report on the number of crimes and attempted crimes. Ripping your door handle of is criminal damage. The SNT might be able to come round and tell you how to make your kitchen door area more secure, although it sounds like it is secure already.
  22. Hi K, I live in a fairly new flat. My ground rent is ?100 a year and i think the freeholder can set this amount, but i would imagine this is just a minor part of your charge. My service charges are closer to ?1500 so it seems very reasonable. Might be worth checking if they have what is sometimes called a 'sinking fund' i think where excess on teh service charges goes into a pot to help pay for future works. Also worth checking if there are any works planned for the near future so you are prepared. Saz
  23. unfortunately there has been a fatality. A car has over turned outside the vale pub. my thoughts go out to those involved. There are police along the corden line. Which runs right up to sainsbury turn off. You can not cross the road until there. i dont know what time is happened i live close by and never heard sirens.
  24. In or next to Camelot travel there was a nail bar too. GBK was also dulwich brasserie at one point i think? Think Green & Blue was redgewells which then became locatelli italian restaurant which was always empty.
  25. GC was closed this evening when i came past 6.30ish. Nashoi - The Dark Horse has re-opened as Le Petit Parisien and looks v nice!
