Martinhal...but not martinhal. It's too expensive!
hoppermum replied to hoppermum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for all the suggestions. The apartments look great bluesuperted, DH maintains he wants to be on-the-sea so until we get closer to our flight dates we'll keep looking for beach front places. Please feel free to recommend any other places. air b n b is such a great site but they all seem to have pools which won't work for my 2. Will prob need to be in a resort. Thanks again. -
Evening friends, I'm going round in circles trying to find accom for my young family (kids are 1 and 3) in Portugal for June. Flights to Lisbon have been booked for a couple of months and as much as I would love to stay at martinhal, we simply cannot afford it (last time we stayed there it was in the spring and much more affordable!) Please can you suggest where I might look, ideally in the algarve. I really don't want a villa with a pool as the safety issues would stress me out so I guess we're looking at a resort with self catering villas...like martinhal! Would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks

Rhythmic Gymnastics classes for children

Oh no...a year? Is that for the 2-3 class? I'm keen to find a class for my son. -
Tongue Tie (again) - Feedback on Katie Fisher please
hoppermum replied to Knomester's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had the snip in Katie's home and it is a bit "weird" as it is essentially her office in a tiny bedroom but looking back, I didn't feel we had much choice as the NHS system takes so long to refer that I wouldn't have continued to BF. Would I have preferred a more sterile environment? Yes. Would I do it again? Yes. There's no perfect solution here (though why don't they just do it at birth like they used to????) -

Looking for removals company recommendation
hoppermum replied to matnurse1983's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Highly recommend Robert and deny's who are based in Peckham. Such great service and really friendly chaps-they did our packing too at a v reasonable rate (I was 8m preg with 2nd child so a necessary luxury!) -
AnnaCBH I thank you...I trust your neediness and may just follow you to trampoline warehouse! Happy bouncing!

I'm thinking of doing the same, can I jump in and ask which one you're going for? There seem to be a huge price range just within the same size specifications....

Best taps and toilet for family bathroom
hoppermum replied to LV0210's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Re: toilet, if you're having an enclosed cistern make sure you plan for decent access if something goes wrong. Having to break into expensive tiles / woodwork left us feeling pretty red faced! And when our plumber did come out to fix it (it was a fancy Grohe flush system) he roller his eyes and suggested that the simpler British made flushes were much more reliable (twyfords is the only name I remember him suggesting) as these rarely fail. -

How to get baby home from hospital?
hoppermum replied to OverTheRainbows's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Make sure you specify which type of car seat you want-we called a cab from Tommy's and the guy turned up with a toddler seat that he didn't even know how to fit-my husband had to take the cab home and drive all the way back with our own car seat to pick us up. Addison lee, keen group and airport direct are all firms i can recommend. -
Thanks for more replies. Not too fussed about seeing male or female (I had a male midwife for both pregnancies) but it has just occurred to me that I have no idea what's involved in re-aligning a pelvis! In basic terms, how does it work??
-
Ah yes I did ready about him but was hoping to find someone a little more local. If there's no one like him round here then I will get in touch. Do you know how many / how regular treatments tend to be? (Not sure if I could make the trip every week for 6 months for example!)

Hi folks, I'm 9 weeks post partum with #2 and still suffering from SPD which seems to be getting worse (probably due to carrying toddler / baby etc) I want to nip this in the bud and am covered by my health insurance but I know there's limited knowledge / treatment available. Does anyone have any recommendations of osteopaths either locally or in town who I could approach. Many thanks

Child friendly farm stay France??
hoppermum replied to hoppermum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for all the suggestions, going to trawl through them all this eve xx -
Good people of ED (happy new year!) I am looking for recommendations for a child friendly hol in France. Needs to be a cottage, ideally on a farm with farmy activities for the kids. Not really fussed where in France as it will be May so average weather everywhere. Will have a 2.8 year old and 6 month old. Any recommendations please!

I bought a book on "the book people" a few weeks ago as a present-garden projects for kids. The recipient loved it so might be worth checking their website?

I had to give my son antibiotics for 3 months and it was a nightmare so I sympathise. In the end we did a variation of petit filous and ice cream. Ice cream worked best as their first reaction is the cold which distracts them from the taste. Also, choc ice cream worked better than other flavours as it was so strong that it disguised the medicine well! Good luck!

What do hubbies want for Christmas?
hoppermum replied to Mrs TP's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Husband usually gets a really nice bottle from the Whisky Exchange that will see him through the year when he fancies drinking something a bit special. It is becoming an annual thing so the surprise isn't there but he gets really excited about seeing which one I've chosen as they have some really quirky finds. Doesn't help that his birthday is a week before Xmas so get really stuck for presents! -
Rainbows playgroup in the church on ladywell road opposite cemetery (can't remember name!) it's 9.30-11.30 stay and play with crafts / play / singing. On Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm planning to take my 2yo and newborn when my husband finishes pat. leave. If you want something closer to forest hill then the church on One tree hill does a playgroup Tuesdays 9.30-11.30 too.

I have a 2yo and newborn and thinking of getting a mothers help when my husband goes back to work after paternity leave. I only want someone to help between tea time and bed-time (5-7) 3 or 4 days per week. Is it realistic to think I can find someone to work these hours? Also, how would it work in practical terms, what can I expect them to do? In my head I want someone to entertain the toddler while I'm cooking dinner, help with bath time and take care of bsby while i put toddler to bed. Maybe straighten up living room (tidy away toys etc) Sorry for the huge paragraphs..6 day old is cluster feeding and it's been a long day!! (Ps please don't contact me to offer services)
