We would be very interested if you can enough people together! We have a nearly 15 mo -
Sounds horrid for you all... I found some of the advice on the national ezcema association website really useful regarding facts etc in managing ezcema. I know you're not keen but We have found during flare ups steroids have been useful and treating for at east 5 days to treat the skin layers. portion keeps the scratching at bay a bit and hence stops the cycle getting very out of control. We were seen for something else at the evelina and they prescribed an emollient pack which was really useful to try a lot of different emollients to see which suited our sns skin the best. I've heard dairy and soya elimination can be very effective for some people too. Good luck...

Bum etc all seem fine, tried a shower with similar effect, will try with us tomorrow night and then try some new toys etc as suggested! Thanks all, great to know it's not that unusual!

Our 14 mo used to love bathtime, he'd happily play and splash about for ages, on Saturday he had a bit of a meltdown as I put him In the bath and this pattern has reoccurred ever night since, he won't sit down he screams, shouts and gets very upset. I'm sure it's just a phase but any advice on how to get through it would be much appreciated!

Pelvic floor....or what's left of it
Gooders79 replied to Life After Babies's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sorry if I've been misunderstood, I wasn't advocating completing 100 a day, merely that you should be targeting completion of 100 in Quick succession before reaching fatigue, signs of which would include use of stomach mscles, adductors and breath holding. I completely agree that quality is more important but ultimately you should be able to do 100 without fatiguing otherwise you are likely to have a suboptimal pelvic floor. -

Gooders79 replied to Life After Babies's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I know 100 seems a lot but if you think if your pelvic floor as the muscle it is,you can see how easily effected it will be by fatigue. By the time you've been up for a couple of hours squatting to do washing, tend to children etc before you've even picked one of them up (!) you can appreciate how tired it will be, once tired it just won't be effective. I think it's a really individual thing as well, for one person contracting in standing might be the best thing, for another side lying is the only way you can get a flicker of movement and then that's your starting point. Current recommendations are for no impact exercise for 6 months post partum and after that you should still proceed with caution if you are getting stress incontinence symptoms -
Pelvic floor....or what's left of it

There are a lot of factors which predispose problems, genetics, bigger than 8 lb baby, 2 nd stage labour of more than 1 hr, episiotomy, forceps delivery, hyper mobility syndrome... You need to be able to complete repeated quick contractions (100) and slow with hold for a minute as a baseline. If you can't do this physio is likely to help, both st Thomas's and kings have excellent women's health services. You really shouldn't have to put up with this and surgical options do exist... -

We have a golf too, the britax would have required passenger seat to be nearly as far forwards as it could go.
-
I was convinced rear facing was the way forward for our boy until I went to have one fitted... I was about to buy the britax multitech, erfs until 18kg and then switch to ff up to 25kg. Basically it's not an isofix and so attaches via tether straps, all of the rear facing seats cam impact on passenger seat space, they take quite a bit of practice to reinstall properly so not great if you're taking in and out. Ultimately we decided against and have moved him to a ff seat. Baby care in Petts wood were really helpful and I'd recommend. Another factor I hadn't considered was at about 11 mo baby gooders was less happy in a car sear rf, much happier now ff... Good luck

I've always liked ruaridh or it's more conventional alternative Rory, love Albert, Winston, Oscar. Have a friend with a little boy griffin which is really lovely and unusual...

I love my cameleon, used the carrycot section as a travel cot in the early days and eliminated the need for a Moses basket downstairs at home, we wheeled between rooms a required when baby was little. Never ad any problems with accessing public transport either, really happy with the seat section too, he sits really nicely in it and always looks really comfy.... However one aspect. Had never considered is that he will start nursery next week and there isn't enough room in the buggy shed for the cameleon hence we are going to have to use a Maclaren or something similar. We have a Maclaren for holidays which I hate, it's hard to push compared to the bugaboo, the one handle of the bugaboo is great, he doesn't st so well in the Maclaren etc etc so now I'm considering buying a bee second hand as realistically we will be using it ever day....

Yes multiple notices... I have received, from southwark council, in the last week demands (x3!) that I pay an ?80 fine for having parked illegally. Yes I know I am stupid, and comments to this effect are not what I'm really looking for... The thing is I've never received the original notices which gets stuck onto the car, if. Had I would have paid them as I did with another one during the same month. So is someone removing these from my car? Has anyone else any experience of this? I've appealed one so far and will appeal the others too but just wondered whether this is an isolated thing or more generic? Thanks

Did Denmark hill to st pancras, then the javelin train today, quick and pretty eat.

Think it depends... Night nannies can be great from what I've heard however it's not quite clear what might be the contributing to the cause of your situation. What happens overnight? Is it very short bouts of sleep or no sleep at all? Is there anything that helps to settle him? Feeding, rocking, cuddling? You say he sleeps well in the pram is is fully flat or slightly raised? Does he have to be moving in the pram or not? How long is he sleeping during the day? Have you tried swaddling or a swing? I think some of the strategies for getting more rest suggested above are great and worth looking at but I think it might be worth looking at why a bit more... Good luck, this is an awful and difficult time but it will get better, use whatever support you have...

Is NCT Antenatal class worth it?
Gooders79 replied to Ramble66's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My partner wasn't that engaged generally in the whole regnancy until we started the nct classes. I thought he would hate them and on the first class felt like I was dragging him there... However, he got loads from them, really enjoyed them and it prompted us to have some discussions about labour which we hadn't really thought about before, like 'how will we get to hospital?' (he doesn't drive) he got a lot of support from the other dads and they meet on quite a regular basis independent of the ladies. Ultimately I'm really glad we did the classes, I always felt that they weren't essential but would be an extra bit of information and socialisation which wouldn't do any harm. I still see my group on a really regular basis and we get on well. They aren't the cheapest but I'll spend a lot on other tags with a new baby and I would without question do them again if i was in the same position. -
Are you looking to go to lessons or just take your baby along to a local pool? I haven't been but have heard really good things about Peckham pulse, they do jelly babies sessions at the weekends in their hydrotherapy pool which would be good for a really young baby. Crystal palace pool do regular sessions, cheaper than ED pool but quite cold and can have some older children and be a little chaotic! We go to lessons with waterbabies, every week at lewisham hospital, in their hydro pool, lovely and warm, we are really enjoying the course and have just signed up tithe third term, they are quite expensive though. I think they do weekend classes.

What can i expect stopping Breastfeeding?
Gooders79 replied to Gooders79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for the reassurances... Think we will focus on giving up the night feeds then the 11am one, then try again at transitioning some of the others to bottles with a very determine effort. The potential hormonal effects makes me think I need to get this more sorted before I get back to work, the last thing I need is being a bit tearful whilst already feeling a bit shaky bam at work. So far we've ride the dr browns, Avent, tommee tippee, and nuk, he won't even let a teat go near his mouth, just lips clamped and a determined head shake. To be honest though we probably haven't let him get really hungry enough. If these don't work with another trial we might well try the breast flow and yoomi as you've recommended saffron. Jos English, we haven't ec tried him on any formula so maybe that will be worth a try too... Any recommendations on what type of formula I should be trying for a 10 mo? Thanks again.
