Too true, I have asked cab drivers several times not to use their mobile when I am in their cab, another time was in a cab when the driver fell asleep and mounted the island in the middle of the road,he then thought it would be ok to continue the journey I insisted he let us out and phoned the cab company to get another cab and when I refused to pay they had the cheek to argue

  4. I marched in Ireland in 1983 re the 8th referendum which as far as Ican remember was about the mothers absolute right to life, I cannot believe that there is not more to this story than meets the eye. I refuse to believe that Ireland is such an ignorant nation as to allow a mother to die rather than termenate an unviable foetus
  5. me too
  6. It does indeed
  7. I thought you had twins filmmaker!
  8. Yes the British Heart Foundation collect but at a price I paid ?30 about six years ago, but better that than pay for a perfectly good sofa to go to the dump
  9. The one in rye lane is ok Nevins Or was a few years ago. Morrisons meat is pretty good too
  10. I was brought up on a very narrow street within a radius of 36 pubs, single glazed sash windows which had to be left open in summer, lots of noise and merriment during the summer months. Can only remember my sleep being disturbed about twice in the 18 years I lived there due to fights directly outside my bedroom window. Some years ago I nearly bought a flat opposite the Herne before it's reincarnation. The reason I chose not to was one can never anticipate if a pub will get better or worse noise for noise levels. I wish I had bought that flat now. But if you buy near a pub I really don't think that you can complain that there is associated noise. I also lived near the CPT for a long time and loved it for the quiz but the rest of the week they weren't getting the customers in and ultimately a business has to make a profit. I think the great exhibition has been one of the best restorations of a pub locally. Years ago the Uplands now the Actress was a bikers pub and many of the long term residents of East Dulwich will remember that according to friend who grew up in the area there was a lot of noise. I think what I'm trying to say is you get used to noise and children will sleep through anything once they're used to it.
  11. Thanks for all the great suggestions, they all look fab but all booked up, but next year will plan a bit better and go somewhere great.

  18. Totally agree with LizR , don't exactly understand what was meant by previous comment "any Irish references have to go" As an Irish person it makes me very unlikely to want to drink there.

  23. Have done it a few times in the last few months, even during rush hour on Friday last with really large suitcase reall simple the worst bit is the steps at honor oak but can be avoided by getting train to forest hill instead where there is a lift. Takes about 25 minutes all in all and at ?1.80 can't complain. Honor Oak -Canada WAter -Canada WAter jubilee line Canning Town -Canning town DLR City airport a lot less daffy then it sounds
  24. Thanks for that been and seen
