  1. Welcome! There's a book club in the ClockHouse pub, there's also the Band of Bakers meetup (with cakes) which happens every few months. Set Social in Peckham is really sociable as well and has lots of regular meet ups. The SE Book Fest is happening next month too. There's a few local newspapers (Peckham Peculiar etc) which are in the local libraries with more details of clubs and notices up in the libraries themselves. There's often lots happening around Copeland Park/ Bussey Building and that general area as well. Hope that's helpful!
  2. Anyone know why the trees in Crystal Palace Road are coming down? I couldn't find anything on the Council website but had thought it was a conservation area, and the wildlife used the trees a lot.
  3. Hello, I was carrying my sleeping toddler on Sunday afternoon (21st April) and must have been pretty distracted and dropped my jumper from my bag. Iwas walking from Crystal Palace and then getting the 363 to The Gardens near Peckham Rye Park. Somewhere I seemed to have lost my favourite green jumper - is bright green, cashmere, from John Lewis, in case anyone spots it. Thank you! (Have phoned the bus garage too).
  4. Hello, I wondered if anyone has had experience with Lewis House in Upper Norwood or the Vale, both around West Norwood? Have read up a lot on the companies in general but would like to hear from anyone who's had relatives go there, if they've enjoyed it. Or if there's any others nearby people would recommend. Thank you!
  5. On Tuesday I lost a black tote with gold key detailing containing a set of sunglasses, make up and some other bits between London Bridge and Peckham Rye Stations. I've filled in the online forms but in case someone comes across it. Thanks!
  6. Could you keep an eye out for my parents' black and white cat, Sam, who went missing from 8 Dulwich Common last night? He is big, mostly white with bits of black, and has a skeleton-style face. He's about seven years old and is microchipped, no collar. Has quite a noisy miaow. My parents are on 0208 693 1946. He may have gone to the allotment or somewhere nearby. (Or my mobile is 07841904613).
  7. Hello I left my faux fur Russian trapper/ deer stalker-style hat on between Brockley and East Dulwich yesterday possibly on the 484 bus in the morning or going for a walk in Telegraph Hill at lunch. I've phoned the bus company but they don't have it. It's a khaki style colour with a grey faux fur lining and has a 'Jasper Conran Debenhams' label if anyone chances upon it! Thank you
  8. My parents' cat, Felix, is missing from Dulwich Common near Old Grove Pub and Lordship Lane. Do let me know if you see him. Thank you!
  9. Hello I just wondered if it was my parents' cat which went missing from Dulwich Common? Their cat was originally microchipped. Thanks Heloise
  10. Hello My parents' black and white cat has been missing for a long while now but we have had reported sightings, particularly from the allotment, next to where they live in Dulwich Common, so think he may still be around. If anyone spots him could they let me know? He's about four, slightly fluffy, mostly black with a white face and paws and other white markings. Sometimes has a limp. Thanks very much
  11. Hello, I left a beige cloth bag with the lettering 'Joie de Livre' with a book inside on a 9.14 train from Peckham Rye to Victoria (then the train went back to Dartford at around 9.40). Have filled out a lost property form but if anyone comes across it, please let me know! Thank you.
  12. Hello, I'm hoping to write a piece about the situation this for a south London blog. If anyone wants to speak about it next week or email me their views, could you private message me? Thank you, Heloise
  13. I agree with Siduhe and Christgill. I grew up round there, and my parents still live there - wouldn't say it was it was crappy area, more that it's ripe for development! I'm going to carry on contacting the councillors and Dulwich Estate staff and trustees about the issue. If people are interested in getting involved with some kind of campaign (in the loosest sense probably) could you email me on [email protected]? At the very least I could keep you updated with what the Dulwich Estate says.
  14. The location is problematic but then the Plough does well further down - and the Grove is sandwiched between East Dulwich and Forest Hill, a lot of people priced out of those areas live on this stretch. There's a lot of people living round there who'd like a nice pub that is only a short walk away. It's only 15 minutes walk from Forest Hill Station and probably a lot of people who walk in the woods on a regular basis would use it. I heard back from the Dulwich Estate this morning - they said "Once we have firm plans we will then arrange a meeting with local residents and businesses to discuss our thoughts. I expect this to be in June / July." I did ask if we could have a meeting before the plans were firmed up but have not yet heard back. As a charity, do they have a duty to consult on things like this?
  15. It's a real shame the building has been empty for so long and been such an eyesore. I've just emailed the councillors, Tessa Jowell and the Dulwich Estate to get more information and suggested some kind of meeting with residents. Doubt we'll get that but I'll let you know what they say anyway! Sounds like they are being turned into flats but wanted to try, just in case.
