  1. I'd like to share my 'don't be a stranger award' with moos, loz, strafer jack, otta, david_carnell, ratty and many many more, and spare a thought to those who have passed over to the other side (the singapore ex pats forum) from huguenot through annaj to madworld74 *sniff*
  2. was she the journo? she was the star of the night. Thought the tory came across quite well as it went. But then she seems to have come from the real world and ended up in a department where she has hands on and expertise. And showed no sing of punch and judiness thus undermining much of the audiences' ire and RB & NF cheap point scoring on the establishment. I've often thgouht if we can make westminster 75% female it'll run better, but to be honest it's not a male female thing, its a grown up not grown up thing, and over privileged public school types carrying on their old boys network doesn nobody any favours, except each other *does weird rolled up leg handshake*

has it been fed to civets first?
  5. The funny thing is that libdem as aprotest vote may have been undermined by their behaviour in power. UKIP in power is basically tory max. If the little folk think westminster doesn't care about them, just wait until that happens. And watch as each piece of EU legislation protecting the rights of all of us is repealed in favour of big business and screwing the little guy. Today 0 contract hours, after ukip Workhouses fed by monsanto gruel!!! As long as farage can keep the debate focussed on the straw man of racism noone will debate what he really wants to do. media campaign is playing into his hands, and as he demonstrated he's nothing if not a shrewd politician.

I'm not convinced. But if they want it they will come Peronally I wouldn't invest in a business that was quite so obviously faddish or based upon, essentially, one pun. But who knows, i genuinely wish them luck. And their mum and dad seem nice too!!

but all your examples are going out to a specialist who makes a better product. This is literally weetabix in a bowl isn't it?
  8. to be fair, pretty much every narrative available amounts to fiddling while climatic rome burns ;)
  9. until we all left for surrey/devon/sussex/ireland, east dulwich was full of immigrants ;)
  10. It could of course be nothing to do with immigration, but as you say, a sense that westminster doesn't care about them.

  12. yaaaay, sterling effort!!!
  13. That does make perfect sense really. It's about perception isn't it. Where immigrant percentages are low there will be a greater perception that you homogeneity is under threat.
  14. it was good, but smacked of Steveo's clever thing to say half an hour after the argument was lost.
  15. please tell me they're all real thread names

That's rather the point. If they become mandatory then you've struck gold!!!
  17. You can see why Farage keeps winning support, he answered questions as opposed to avoided them (they did rather fall into his lap a bit) and it was hard to fault much of what he said. Brand should have genned up by watching Nick Griffin's failure. Question time doesn't fare well as a soap box, and a good audience, as this one was, will rip yo uto shreds, as this one did. He was absolutely silent by the end, which was nice.

My mates and i had a session down the pub and vowed not to stop drinking until we came up with an idea that made us rich. Eventually we came up with the idea of patenting car tyres that had different coloured rubber at the level where the tread has worn down too much so its really obvious. Pleased with our work we drew up a patent and one of us went to the patent office. Someone had got there first a couple of years previously. 20 years later I'm less annoyed as they clearly didn't get rich either!!! Still think it was a good idea though. I'm changing my mind about hipsters bit by bit. They may be a bit irritating in a 'Yes, we are all individuals' kind of fashion, but they are at worst boring, utterly harmless and at best entrepenuerial, even if we can laugh at some of the ideas, at least they're putting their money where their mouth is and living up to Napoleon's ideal. Better than sittin gon your arse complaining about how the government has disenfranchised you and then nicking some trainers and burning down your neighbour's business innit.

  20. I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er grove vale and under hill, When all at once I saw a crowd, Stealing the golden daffodils; But don't worry because someone mounted the pavement and ran them over before an angry mob beat the rest of them to death with their Orla Kiely pitchforks made of pure self-righteousness
  21. it may not be art it may not even be good very funny though
  22. It always saddens me that www.yournotme.com died.
  23. last line's a bit of a mouthful (baddamtish)
  24. All the papers were losing money hand over fist, then the Mail online suddenly becomes the world's most viewed website by essentially being Heat. So now the rest of them are attempting to get a share of the pie without quiiiiiite stooping to kim kardashian (except when they stoop to kim kardashian)
  25. a looong time ago i made a bet i'd call my first born slartibartfast. I paid up. Cockwomble is a great word.
