Compared to wolves dogs are more juvenile in terms of behaviour.... this is well known and is not new. Routine barking at certain noises is an innate watchdog function in many breeds and a trait selected for over hundreds of years.

KK, I do agree, the simple solution is that until your dog is sufficiently trained have them on a lead or a long line. This is a matter of educating dog and puppy owners. Brightfield1975, dog ownership can be a very positive thing, even when the dog is only a pet. Some are of the view that there is no place for dogs in the modern world. I do not agree. What we can agree on is that where dog owners are sharing valued space with non-dog owners there needs to be greater consideration given to those who may dislike or fear dogs. Young dogs do need some free running so would-be owners need to consider if they can achieve this without imposing on those who do not own dogs. As for the point about 'forced' breeding; not sure what you mean? Are you against all forms of artificial selection and therefore all domestic species? Of all animal species domestic dogs have evolved to be owned by a human.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
first mate replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Okay, you may well be right. My intention was not to try to beat up the council, I am genuinely concerned as to how mass vaccination will happen in terms of logistics. I thought there might be a multi disciplinary approach. It occurred to me, perhaps incorrectly, that many pharmacies and GP Practices will not be set up to store the Pfizer Vaccination and so wondered if there was a sense of those that are equipped. We cannot have the masses turning up to Kings etc.., so I had wondered if Council owned premises, like the various fitness centres, might be an option? Though storage is still an issue to be resolved. Also wonder where, when and if the army gets involved? For something so big and so vital there seems very little info. -

You'd hope there was some communication between the various bodies involved? You'd also hope that after all this time sites had been identified and some sort of provisional plan was in place. The lists I referred to were pharmacies and GP Practices that would be providing vaccinations to the broader population, when the time comes; not sectors. The advice on vaccination rollout is vague. When do we think locations for mass vaccinations might be identified or is it the case that, despite having months to plan for this, the council actually has no plan? Is there a list of pharmacies and GP Practices? Is there a bit more on a 'roving' service? -

Can local councillors please advise what plans are in place for covid vaccination rollout in Southwark and what centres are being allocated for this? -
Sally, do you not think that those coping with the impact of serious disability, which often includes overwhelming fatigue, have enough to contend with without demanding yet more of them? In principle you may have a point to make but it comes across as a bit tone deaf. I am sure you would agree those who are seriously disabled are among the least considered in society. You have made a point in the past about the impact of lockdown on certain sections of society and the need for some latitude and understanding on the ?rules? to preserve mental health, you talked about about ?walking a mile in your shoes?.

Kings College hospital, rubbish customer service
first mate replied to trinidad's topic in The Lounge
Glad Trinidad that you got through in the end. As Pugwash said, for straightforward issues or complaints PALS can quite often help. Hoping your next experience is more positive. If you are dealing with some form of chronic or progressive condition the pressure of negotiating hospital admin can at times be deeply frustrating and overwhelming. -
Definitely remember more than one greengrocer stall as well as butchers etc.., the former were a fixture, not occasional.

Trinidad do you have access to email? I know it is far from ideal but phoning secretaries is unlikely to work these days. Ask for an email address for the consultant?s secretary and email them. If for some very good reason you cannot access email then suggest you go to PALS and ask for support to access the consultant?s secretary. I assume you are unable to leave messages on the secretary?s phone? I hope this is helpful. -
Eh?

I think the crime risk or perception of risk applies both to those cycling and walking, especially when its dark. Also not sure what the solution is.

Disruptive building work during the pandemic

If the neighbour building is attached to yours or they are digging foundations a certain distance from you (you?ll have to check the distance)a Party Wall Agreement may be in the interests of both parties https://hoa.org.uk/advice/guides-for-homeowners/i-am-improving/party-wall-agreement/ -

Parking at Tessa Jowell Health Centre

So if someone with a condition like relapsing remitting MS, that precludes a long walk but might allow travel in an automatic car, needed to visit the surgery, would this not be a case where being too ill to walk but not to drive applies? People who are immunosuppressed or undergoing cancer treatment may feel safer in a car. Many people may have to be driven by a carer, like the elderly. I could go on?! -
But so what? That was always predictable and I doubt there are very few, if any, Farage supporters on here. Just because someone jumps on an issue for their own ends does not invalidate the issue.

Point 3 is interesting; ?bringing forward schemes that were wanted but may been in the ?too hard box? for whatever reason. What does ?too hard box? mean when it is set against the ?were wanted? element? Who wanted it, the majority of taxpayers or sections of the council and a few vocal groups? It does seem to confirm that the council used Covid and social distancing to fast track all the stuff they ?wanted? to do.

Finally, this feels like something we can all agree on. Robin, have you raised the green bus idea with James McAsh or any other local councillors recently?
-
Robin, I too think the Green bus is a great idea and is just the sort of lateral thinking that no reps of the sitting or mainstream parties are exhibiting...too caught up in ideology and ?big? ideas. What we desperately need are smaller, practical ideas, like yours. Really, perhaps you should consider running again.

Malumbu, Amazed, given you are a cycling instructor, you did not already know about that SC link!? Perhaps you were just being snide, though surely not given your previous comments about passive aggressive behaviour. Useful link for anyone for or against, guess that was my reason for posting it 🙂

Please be aware Southwark Cyclists are getting members to support measures, they have templates and are asking their supporters to email councillors to indicate support https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/streets-for-distancing-2/ While they have every right to this it is hoped that the overwhelming number of voices against are also going into councillor inboxes. My point being that SC, like other favoured lobby groups, probably know the best way to be heard and that meets with Council process.

Malumbu, please give it a break. You have made accusations of passive aggressive behaviour, so why not follow your own advice? It is disingenuous to suggest that if you disagree with council led events that really you should not voice concern but instead wait to stand for election. It does at times feel as though there is a concerted effort by those closely involved with council supported agendas to shut down debate. There is a perceived issue with consultation with the council, where many feel the approach is partial and undemocratic. The forum is one place where frustrations and views can be aired/vented and councillors challenged. Of course, councillors would prefer us to contact them via private email or via a council ?consultation? exercise, but there are doubts over scrutiny and oversight. Some posters do not live directly in the area represented by the councillor who chose to come on this forum, but then neither do you, yet you still feel you have the right to comment and participate? If I have understood, you say you live in Lewisham? Apologies if that is not the case. I think most in politics accept vigorous challenge and debate as par for the course. I do not feel the nature of certain posts has been ?aggressive?; they have been tenacious and at times indicated intense frustration. Sorry Admin, just seen your response above. Feel free to remove my post if you consider it unhelpful. -
