St. Francesca Cabrini primary school may close permanently
first mate replied to jazzer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Indeed, we were told it was vital there were more schools and much energy was put into getting a number built and opened and now we learn Southwark is looking at closing schools. sweetgirl Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I?d like to see what James barber has to say on > this matter, after all he was one of the persons > involved in making Harris primary happen when it > clearly wasn?t needed! > > It?s unbelievable what councils like to waste > money on! -
All the more so by a labour administration supposedly committed to greener neighbourhoods.

I'm not though suggesting you stop posting, telling you what you should or shouldn't post or saying your response is 'daft'. I'd imagine the 'right to whinge' also falls under freedom of speech? Thread policing again. Not daft at all. Useful for others to know about. -
Once the ED forum is closed how will this info be shared?

Look forward to hearing more. Could it be a koi carp? Any chance of a photo? alice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does anyone know what that huge fish is in Peckham > park just under the bridge. It barely moves and is > partly above the surface.

They can, but in the first few days of leaving the nest they are really vulnerable. I think their main defence is simply freezing and hope they won't be seen. Movement will give them away and most cats will catch them if they want to. Agree with Jenijen though, corvids and other predatory birds are a further problem and let's not forget foxes. diable rouge Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fledglings can jump though, well, Great Tits > certainly can, have watched them numerous times > jumping up onto low branches and then making their > way up the branches to safer territory...

Great, see you around on other threads.

I know it is awful. I had wondered if owners might keep cats indoors until fledglings are flying and off the ground. It is those couple of weeks when they are on the ground and being fed by parents they are most vulnerable. sspringer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > https://www.nationalgeographic.co.uk/animals/2020/ > 09/the-232-animals-in-this-photo-were-killed-by-ho > use-cats-in-just-one-year

Waseley, absolutely no requirement for you to continue reading or participating in this thread, so curious why you feel the need to close it? I suspect it will continue for some time. I'd be very careful about making what may be construed as threats to harm an animal on a public forum. It would be illegal to intentionally cause harm to the cat even if it is a known bird killer. I understand your upset but making threats is not the way to go. sspringer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Time to bell the cats. No bias, at least no more than you or any other average person, just in search of an explanation. So help us out, you seem to know how to make sense of that council statement and figures provided by Rockets. Do tell. You say you have already posted an answer but none of us can find it? Perhaps it was deleted in error or you thought you had posted but it did not go through? Come on, if you know the answer you posted just cut and paste in reply. Alternatively, perhaps Rx3 can help you? Go on, just a few seconds to re-post a reply none of us can find. ohthehugemanateeLTN4 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Interesting! Well I've looked Manatee and cannot see your response to Rocket's question, explaining those council figures, despite saying you have? We must all have missed your post. Indulge us and post your response and explanation for those figures quoted by Rocket again. ohthehugemanateeLTN3 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Looks like our dear Rockets is so busy spamming > the same question over and over again that he > doesn't have time to read or even acknowledge the > replies. > > > It's not that we're not brave it's just that our > fingers only move so fast, and most of us I > suspect are disinclined to repeatedly post the > same answer to the spam question because that gets > boring and annoying for everyone reading.

Aside from trying every which way to get Heartblock to admit to saying things he/she has not said I am wondering why there has been no direct reply to the queries raised repeatedly by Rockets, HB an others: what do you think is happening here: > > > > "Traffic has been rising across Southwark since > > the end of the 2021 COVID-19 lockdown, and was > at > > 92% of pre-COVID levels in November 2021 at > count > > points in the north of the borough, and above > > pre-COVID levels on the TfL network near > Dulwich" > > > > Like my old primary school teacher I think I > know > > what is happening but will let you try to > > determine the answer for > yourselves.....remember, > > according to the council there are 21,000 less > > journeys happening in the Dulwich area.... Electric cars and charging - some questions!
first mate replied to Adam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Given the inevitability of a switch to electric cars, I wonder how easy it would be to bore small width tunnels under pavements to a property, for houses that want a charging facility? I guess the owner could have some sort of circuit breaker device to stop misuse...but not sure how safe that would be? Just to add, I had thought of the gully solution but knowing how easily pavements degrade and crack after almost any interference I wondered if a bore hole under paving might be better? -
Rx3, you know, just because Labour won it does not mean the data they pushed is correct...is that the point you are trying to make?
-
I second Rockets' post. We need a roads scheme that works for all not just some.
-
Hopefully we can now have a proper, democratic consultation on LTNs. I think the vote for Labour has not been one generally in favour of LTNs but a response to recent events on the national stage. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Labour win in Dulwich Village, in a contest widely > touted by ?One? supporters as a referendum on > LTNs. Not a helpful or clever comment. Many of us who object to the mode and manner of implementation of LTNs locally are also regular cyclists. It is just that we see things as they are not as we would wish them to be. Please stop negative characterising of anyone that dares to query the efficacy of LTNs in the area. Well, his career in politics will be somewhat curtailed if he does not get in, so...

Egyptian goose attacked by dog off lead in Peckham park
first mate replied to staplemeg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The council has all the legal tools it needs to enforce dogs on lead in certain areas of the park like footpaths, since PR is under PSPOs. I wonder why the don't? alex_b Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Lebanums Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > It clearly says round the lake that dogs should > be > > kept on a short lead. Dogs do not have a moral system or sense of what is right or wrong; the problem is the humans that own them. Lynne Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't waste your breath. Lebanums. According to > their owners,no dog ever did anything wrong.
