Yes please report to police with fullest description of dogs and owner possible. BTW, just so you know and can tell the police, since they are not always clued up themselves, whoever was handling the dogs at the time is culpaable in law because they have care and responsibility of the animals at that moment. Well, looking at the plans I'd think it is bound to be a chain coffee store or fast food outlet. It is currently proposed at 3 stories but judging by the whole M&S saga I can imagine further applications for another storey. We are promised high quality, area enhancing architecture beautifully finished in brick facing to " blend" in with the orginal and topped with UPVc white windows. Mmmmm. As others have suggested, put crate by your bed, that way he knows you are close. If you force him to cry it out in a locked crate downstairs you risk him panicking and this could lead to other problems. Other option is you sleep downstairs for some of time until he is settled. James, TheM&S build seems to be getting larger and larger. My understanding was the ground floor would be extended and then the three floors maintained in their existing space and footprint (possibly with 4th floor penthouses above) but large sections of the ground floor. Now seem to be two stories high. Have you visited this site recently and seen how the build is progressin? I'd be interested to know if the build is of the dimensions you expected from the plans?

Aside from maxing out on one's legal rights, affluent young professionals also have a choice in terms of the degree to which they extend their homes- that choice may involve considering the impact on their neighbour and perhaps even modifying and scaling back their plans. Choosing to exercise that consideration is also an indication that good will works both ways.

Have to say some elderly neighbours had what sounds to be a similar experience of a loft and wrap around conversion double whammy and they found the new wall very oppressive and, indeed, it took a lot of their light. I think the experience was pretty rough on them and it seened that little consideration was given to the impact on them. I've said it before, but the current thrust to extend, if not about pure added value as investment, is as much about gaining light airy wow factor rooms as it is about needing more space. This would be fine were it not for the fact that where terraced houses are concerned extending to gain light often means taking light from your neighbour. Also fine if your neighbour has the desire and financial means to extend, but if not I can see how it could be experienced as a massive imposition.

Soyamocha, Going back to a much earlier post I am unclear how far the new structure at its widest point will be from yours? If I have understood they want to build up to the boundary but not on it? If it is a party wall structure I would think you would have a say in the finish your side.
