They often do special offers for country hotels on groupon if those would do, never seen any cottages myself but they might pop up sooner to Christmas. I once stayed in New park manor in New Forest for a wedding and it was in breathtaking surroundings! Sounds a lovely Christmas plan :)

You should have a look at the local groupon site for tickets and stuff, might save yourself a fair bit. Plus they come through emails so will be easlily booked from either end. Sounds a fab trip, Jealous!

These kids were bored, and have nothing/nowhere better to do/be then wind up others in the park. In my experience on kids generally being fools in places like this had the ball gone anywhere near your kid it would have been, "Ahhh, Miss. Im well sorry, it was him, we didn't mean it. Is he ok. Soz!" It's a shame, not a crime, and not a reflection on "broken britain," or whatever it is that's been hinted. Were you never a kid? Or were your childhood days spent well mannered wih exemplaty behaviour skipping in the front garden? do only the deprived, dragged up kids play football where there not supposed too?

When I was younger I thought it was all one word. "trickertreat!" At first I thought it was a completely random word "Trickertree." !? absolutely baffled when some smart arse said "trick" one year. I stood there wondering what the hell he was talking about :-S Needless to say, we didn't do trick or treating often where I grew up.

Wow. Why did they proclaim to the world they were about to watch a film with their daughter if they didn't want any outside input on their actions? If you don't want a comment, don't share it with all & sundry. I think Facebook is turning a large section of the population into nut jobs.

I second manchester, as it's where I was a student. It's a European Market now, with a French section. I've spent Christmas in Germany and would say it's pretty similar, except for real snow (in Germany) rather than sludge.
