  1. Well if anything good comes out of the shambles of today, then at least Johno will come to his senses and realise that Tindall has won 50odd too many caps. Never should he have been picked in the squad let alone the team. Add to that Moody is not the man he was (never an out and out real 7 anyway) and that Jonny is struggling to find his radar. Changes please based on common sense. Oh, and can someone please explain to the players on the park that the ref needs to be played - regardless of his decisions! The outside backs can set the tournament alight but can the lads up front please wake up and smell the salts/roses!! Unless they show up with game A++ they're on the next flight home. Shockingly poor and needs some significant improvement. Jonny wrist injury ? Anyone heard anything more about it?
  2. Tricky one. Hoopers is about a 25mins walk from me at the top of Peckham Rye. Think I will venture down poking my head in the Herne (if it's open) then the EDT on the way and perhaps stop at one of those if it looks good.
  3. Early start @ 8.30. Anyone know of any pubs showing in the area and are interesting in watching? Law 9.8.1..............
  4. I'm trying to think of an example of a pub that is truly "something for everyone"..... It has a Tapas menu, of which there is a review somewhere on this site(don't think the Catalonian chef is uber busy though). Big screen for the football/Rugby. The poker nights will continue I was told and an 'open mic night' is in the making. I thought it was all quite minimalist in truth, considering the hyped refurb. It's not kitsch a la Jam Circus or indeed a traditional/country or themed pub. Perhaps I'd just call it confused, but that's what you get if you try and make a pub "something for everyone". I read a previous thread whereby someone stated they hoped it wouldn't be a "fun pub". Which just goes to show you can't please everyone. Either way, the most important thing for me is that that bar staff are friendly, so are the punters and the beer/wine is good. So I'm willing to give it a few more chances, despite only one choice of cider: Strongbow..Yuck!.
  5. I've been following progress (over 1000 pages now) of the Shard and london Bridge Development via this forum. An interested read... Paul http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=407549&page=1023
  6. I'll be up for a trip to The Rose if ones arranged. I went there with my housemate for the footie mid-week. To be honest we were 2 of about 8 people in there the whole night... Can't say I was that impressed and I had high hopes for my new local. The bar staff were really friendly though, even if you could sense the worry in the new owner's eyes..... Still, the people make the pub I guess....
  7. I popped into that new Rose pub the other day and they'll be opening early and showing the quarters onwards on the big screen. Having said that, I went in to to watch the football and was one of about 8 people in there. Still can't complain about not having a good view I guess....
