  1. Jeremy, Not sure why the word cupcake is annoying, it just means a cake made in a paper baking cup; and fairy cakes are much smaller and cupcakes bigger. Cupcakes seem to be traditionally slathered with more icing than a fairy cake. Maxxi, There are recipes out there on the internet for microwave cakes made in mugs if you get the urge.
  2. Jeremy, Nothing wrong with the word cupcake - what about the words fairy cake? Some of them are tasty, some aren't. The same with slices of cake. They should be eaten the same day I believe, but too many people sell them beyond their eat by date. It's the over-decorating I can't stand. You are going to eat them so why bother? You don't ice a muffin usually, so why the over-decorating malarkey with the cupcake?
  3. Look on Amazon for recommendation/reviews as well.
  4. David Robey came on Vanessa Feltz's show for the last half hour to answer questions about DB. Worth a listen on listen again, catch-up etc.
  5. Why not email David Robey and give him all your collective wisdom? Very surprised to learn Baylen and Amy only got fifty quid per show.
  6. Tiddles, You can email [email protected] to vent. Robey is the managing editor of BBC London.
  7. That's very sad. I wouldn't do it here unless I knew who was coming. I said in another post yesterday that I heard a group of kids - maybe aged 10 or so - chanting "We want treats" all the way down the Ondine Road. And they had their parents with them! It would be much more fun to have small children come to the door with their parents in the background, especially children that you know. I don't think it's normal to say please, as they say Trick or Treat when you open the door, but they should certainly say thank you. It's also fun to admire the costumes, especially if they have made an effort. A friend of mine who lives in the States says that some parents from other areas drive their kids to his area in order to trick or treat. That is wrong, weird and greedy. He said he has stopped opening his door.
  8. Group of loud children walking down Ondine Road earlier, about 6 pm, shouting out "We want treats, we want treats" over and over. If they with me they would have been told to shut it. Couldn't see any interesting costumes in their group either. You need to work for those treats kids. Americans do it better.
  9. I have a horrible feeling it is probably Lucky Charms. Quite like Kashi and the Trail Mix Grape Nuts.
  10. American cereal? What American cereal is so good that it is sold in a sweet shop?
  11. Lots of the Etsy people in the States don't put their prices (or postage) in pounds until someone from here contacts them. They are working within a much larger country though to start with. Have had some very good dealings with some of the dealers there. Lots of the women on there seem to do this as a 'retirement' job.

  13. I have used Etsy to find specific things I want. Lots of sites come up in the United States though. Some of them have reasonable charges for postage and others extortionate charges.
  14. Have you thought of an Etsy page?

Have you ever had local Nunhead comedian Lewis Schaffer?

    Rounders

Rounders - the game where you run around the bases even if you haven't hit the ball. Try baseball instead.
  17. If it didn't say All Day Breakfast then what is the point of complaining?
  18. Doesn't Danny Baker support Millwall? He has a twitter account - prodnose.
  19. What a lovely daughter you have. How long did it take her to grow her hair? My niece did this when she was about the same age. Would be great if you could get in on Twitter somehow!

I didn't touch it, but the colour was brown. It was growing in a vertical on the very lower part of the tree. If it is indicator of disease then I hope the council is keeping an eye on it.
  21. Casa Sibella is quite expensive as is Cornercopia, compared to the other places anyway. Toilet in BV not great so best to go at cinema in my opinion. Think there is only one toilet in whole place which you have to get a key to. BV nice to go to on a Sunday for lunch/brunch.
  22. Yes, the Thai place is good; if you like a good pizza you can try FrancoManca, there are Mexican restaurants, which I haven't tried but have heard good things; Honest Burger if you like burgers; a few Columbian restaurants, Ms. Cupcake for a treat.....a few Italian places - the names are escaping me. Don't forget there are two undercover places opposite each other off Atlantic Road. Ms. Cupcake is in the same place as Franco Manca. There was a Japanese place there with odd opening hours, but no sushi. Also a good (Pakistani?) place with lovely thalis called Elephant.
  23. Don't go there - there are lots and lots of good restaurants in Brixton Village undercover market which are open late on Saturday.
