  1. Be careful of these online games. I got seriously addicted to a pre-internet online multiplayer game on Prestel called Shades. I met a bloke online, one thing led to another, and we've now been married for 13 years! Ruth
  2. Last week NatWest contacted me to say someone was trying to use a card in my name in a machine in Malaysia, unsuccessfully fortunately. Again, it must have been cloning, but I've no idea where it was done. When I got back from holiday last year I got a similar call - that time I'm pretty sure the culprits used a "malfunctioning" cash machine in a German Autobahn service station. Ruth
  3. When I came to Dulwich Holman's had the shop that is now William Rose. Some model railway trains were on display in his window. We went round the back to the model railway shop a number of times when we were starting on our first layout (still not finished!). I wondered how he ever managed to make a profit.
  4. Being open for new patients depends on whether their lists are full at the time. When we decided to change GPs (didn't like 306 Lordship Lane), the Crystal Palace Road practice was closed to new registrations. Once some patients have left they can accept new registrations again. We're now with the Forest Hill Road practice, and they've been fine for what we need, and when we have the occasional hiccup over my husband's complicated repeat prescriptions, they're always willing to sort it out quickly. Same day appointments are always a problem, whichever practice you go to - at least FHRS have stopped the silly practice they had for a while of insisting you HAD to ring on the day you wanted an appointment (even if not urgent), and couldn't book a week in advance! The only real problem we experience is that although there's a ramp up to the entrance, there's then a little step at the doorway and a very tight turning space which renders the place non-disability-scooter-accessible for my other half. On the other hand, they've got a bike rack, which I make use of.
  5. I went to Sylvester Road to pick up a parcel and there was a woman with a petition about the policy station doorstepping everybody going in and out.
  6. Highway code paragraph 217 DO NOT park your vehicle on the road where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. For example, do not stop.... .... opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space. So you should have known that already - there's no need for a sign!
