Hello everyone I am taking my daughter abroad for the first time in about 3 weeks and I am getting her a passport (yes, I've left it a bit late!). I need to get her a photo done but wondered if anyone had any advice on a)where to go in ED and b)any tips on how to get her to sit still when I take her. Huge thanks in advance xx

Nappy rash creams - what's the best?
swagstar replied to swagstar's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for all the advice everyone - really helpful. Doc prescribed us bepanthen for every day and canesten hydrocortisone to clear it up (after getting rid of the thrush on it) so fingers crossed it stays warmish so we can do lots of nappy off. Thanks again x -
Nappy rash creams - what's the best?
swagstar replied to swagstar's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks everyone. On the advice of my childminder we had also been doing all nappy changes and baths with a bit of bicarb of soda in water. Also, been recommended bepanthen as an everyday cream. -
Nappy rash creams - what's the best?
swagstar replied to swagstar's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Hello sailor - do you use anything on an ongoing basis (so everyday?) or do you just wait for a bit of redness? I was doing the latter but recently advised by the GP to put somethign on with every chnage (they said all creams much of a muchness). -
Hi All My daughter has been getting nappy rash recently and I wanted to see what everyone thought were the best nappy rash creams about? I have used quite a few but wanted to see what the general opinion was to see if I had not been choosing the best ones. I am interested in every day use but also the best cream for when she actually has nappy rash. All thoughts very much appreciated x

Hello My little girl lost her lovely Steiff bear on Saturday somewhere in Dulwich park and/or on the way to the little Sainsbury's at the top of Lordship Lane. If anyone found it please can you let me know? The bear is very special so there is a ?5 reward. xx

Lovely, thanks!

Excuse my ignorance but where is the Avenue of Sails? I was planning to pop up to see the boats circa 8am tomorrow but wasn't sure where is best?

I got a graco one recently which was circa ?100 and we bought an additional mattress which has been great. My daughter sleeps better when away now than she does at home!

opinions about bringing a baby to a funeral??
swagstar replied to Lindsey<3's topic in The Family Room Discussion
For my Fathers funeral my nephews and nieces (who were 6 and 1 respectively, unfortunatley the twins birthday was the same day!) stayed in a little ante room but that was because my sister didn't want them to remember it more than anything. I think babies can be great at funerals as they can really lighten the mood and provide a nice positive focus at the wake. It would probably be best to check with the organisers and as the posts say sit somewhere you can escape from quickly if the baby starts crying/making lots of noise. I certainly don't think it's rude to take a baby but probably best to check. -
Cranial osteopothy - any recommendations locally?

I go to Lizzie for my own problems, and she is amazing (lovely person too) -
Cranial osteopothy - any recommendations locally?
swagstar replied to Widdy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My little one was forceps so we went to Katie Sedgwick when she was only 4 days old. We had 2 treatments of about ?40 each and she was much happier afterwards. I would definitely recommend doing it. -
Wholemeal bread and 'too much' fibre
swagstar replied to swagstar's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks guys - yes Saffron I have heard the same so will try the juice. -
Hello all I have been ensuring that my 10 month old daughter has 'brown' versions of carbs, eg wholemeal bread, wheatbran bread sticks etc. One of my friends who gives her children only white stuff says that babies shouldn't have wholemeal anything as it has too much fibre in it and is bad for babies. Looking at weaning books they always mention not giving them too much fibre, but don't really quantify how much is too much. I am now quite confused - can anyone help clarify this? Thanks in advance.

It is a scam. My mother got done by them last week to the tune of ?70. They were very persistent, stayed on the phone with her for 3 hours 'fixing' stuff and even had a lunch break! When I got her to hand up they called her back for 3 days.

Refusing the spoon - any good books/advice?
swagstar replied to swagstar's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the great advice and words of encouragement! Of course this evening I decided to give her all finger foods and she refused to eat almost all of them too! Had a bit of broccoli and just flung everything else about. Hey ho. There is a glass of wine with my name on it in about 1.5 hours... -
My daughter is almost 10 months old and has spent the last 3 months happily being spoon fed a variety of different foods. In the last week she has started to turn away when offered the spoon and in the last two days now point blank refuses to eat anything from a spoon unless she can hold it herself (which means it goes on the floor, not in her mouth). Whilst this is obviously maddening it also poses the question of what on earth can I get her to eat? I can give her the obvious finger food stuff, but I don't know how I am going to get a hugely varied diet down her if she refuses anything that requires cutlery! I can't really imagine what I can take for her to eat as a proper meal when we are out and about. Bread sticks won't really cut the mustard! Does anyone have a good book they can recommend which will help with this? To add to the problem I have a tiny freezer so only really have one opportunity a week to cook for her and store it. Thanks in advance

Is it just the loss of the back room you are all talking about? I went the other day and still thought it was good for babies.

Sorry to hijack but has anyone tried the chicco caddy backpack?

Anyone bought a buggy from Peppermint?
swagstar replied to amydown's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We bought our bugaboo chameleon at the Kingston on (priced checked vs john lewis) They were great in store, great on the phone but when we went to pick up from the Old Kent road branch they didn't have it and were rubbish. This branch has now closed... When we spoke to the customer service they were great and very apologetic. We got the buggy in the end from the northcote road branch and they were great. -
Its the water pressure apparently, when it's too hot as it travels up the blue thing. I always found that if I put hot water in and screwed the lid on properly it leaked right out. You need to put the bottles into cold water immediately to avoid...

Zappa - I recently lived on this road (I moved house but not because of the road). It is a nice road, amazing distance to the station. It's not hugely neigbourly in comparison to other East Dulwich streets but everyone seemed nice, just not too chatty! The only negative I could give you is that as there is some kind of residential studenty place in Abbotswood Road there were often loud drunkards ambling down the road in the early morning. That said they were totally harmless and the road is super quiet the rest of the time. Nice housing stock at the Grove vale end of the road too.

Can anyone recommend a lactation consultant?
swagstar replied to jeaniebee's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Try Sofie Jacobs - http://www.sofiejacobs.com/ I went to her antenatal classes and then she came round to help me with feeding afterwards. She is lovely and extremely helpful. -
Ballet/Dance classes for a 3yr old
swagstar replied to dulwichgooner's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Get in touch with Kevin at Push Studio on Blackwater Court (off blackwater street) There is loads of dance stuff going on there and I think kids can start from as early as 3. -
Spring filming in Peckham Rye Park!
swagstar replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I saw what they were filming and rather bizarrely it was a cat walking across some bricks...
