HI all - I wanted to share a recommendation for my childminder, Angela Banton. We have had Angela as our childminder since 2016 and have found her to be brilliant. We are sadly leaving her care after almost 7 years as our eldest (who she's had since age 5) is going to Secondary school and our youngest (who has had Angela since 10 months of age) is going to the same school. Angela has provided full time care for my son and pre and after school care for my daughter. Angela is kind, flexible, caring and always very helpful. She is based on Lordship lane and her number is 07963 604847 I just wanted to share as I know how difficult it can be to get the right childminder :)

Hi all i've been told by a school that you are not allowed to do online learning (ie giving lessons online) in primary schools for safeguarding reasons. I appreciate it may be down to budget as I've heard of multiple private schools that did this during lockdown but wondered if anyone knew of any state schools that had done/are doing it? I have gone on the govt website and couldnt find anything saying it was not allowed. Thanks so much

Brilliant thank you both xx -
Hi everyone I am having a party for my son in a few weeks who will be 2. Most of the children coming to his party will actually be between 4 and 6 so I am struggling to instantly identify an entertainer who would be perfect. Ideally looking for 30 -45 mins combination of magic/balloons etc to keep everyone entertained. massive thanks in advance xx

Hi all - does anyone have a clue where I could get a private hearing test for my 5 year old? The Dr said it would take ages to get referred and Google is proving a bit fruitless currently! Huge thanks in advance x

Hi All I am looking for a KS1 tutor for my child who is almost 6. I want to get her some extra support on an evening once at week at home. I've seen there is Dulwich tutors but I wondered if anyone had anyone else they would recommend? Huge thanks in advance x

Hello all I am thinking about signing up my daughter with Explore Learning in either sydenham or brixton on the recommendation of a friend (who sends their also 5 year old to one in Surrey). Obviously Kumon would be better in terms of location so I just wondered if anyone had experience of either or both and could give me a steer on whether they would recommend Explore learning? massive thanks in advance

Great thanks so much for all of your input everyone, really helpful.

Thanks so much all. I've moved to Surrey but going to move back to East Dulwich (don't know exactly where) so travel to the old school wont really be possible as it would be an hour long drive. They wouldn't just leave a child without a school place at all would they?

Hello -does anyone have any experience of getting children into infant/primary school in Southwark mid year? My daughter will be in school from next September and then we will be looking to move areas (back to East Dulwich) probably mid the year after. A lot of the talk is about the horror and pain of getting into the school intially. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of getting into school mid year? Huge thanks in advance X

Eczema cream that actually works?
swagstar replied to HollieES's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ultrabase has worked wonders for my daughter - her dermatologist thinks it is a miracle cream. Also avoiding cow milk seems to help. For night time scratch sleeves were amazing and helped make it a lot better very quickly -
Chinese New Year Celebrations with Kids?
swagstar replied to newtoedf's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm planning to do this was a 2 and a half year old. Go for it. If it's too crowded you can always leave. I won't be going if it's torrential rain however! -
I was there today for something else and spoke to reception who just let me book. So maybe don't need a letter anymore x

Hello I have some small children's shoes that I want to give away to a local kids charity. I don't want them to go to a charity shop as I would rather they go straight to a disadvantaged family who actually needs them. Does anyone know of anywhere suitable? They are not new but have been slightly used. Huge thanks in advance

Hello - I am looking for a 2 week holiday with my husband and 2 year old. However, after taking a week off recently have come to the conclusion to actually come back more refreshed than when I went away, I need somewhere with the option of childcare. Preferably France or Italy in August - does anyone have any recommendations? I've checked out babyfriendlyboltholes but would love some other recommendations to help my search. huge thanks in advance x

Just wanted to update this in case anyone is interested. I tried a few things including spray on plaster and cream from GP but eventually at the end of my tether I looked online and found something called scratch sleeves. Basically like a cotton shrug with silk mittens. I would totally recommend. Think I have narrowly avoided her scarring herself. Just wanted to share in case useful xx

Thanks All - I am trying the spray on plaster which seems ok so far! xx

Hi everyone This is a bit strange and gross, but my almost 2 year old daughter has a scab on her nose which I cannot for the life of me get her to stop picking off. She does it predominantly in her sleep, which is why every morning she wakes up with a worse scab right on the end of her nose. She also has a touch of eczema on her face (which she doesn't touch as far as I can tell) too so that may well be why she started off picking at her nose. I've tried a plaster on the nose (came straight off) and barrier cream but nothing has worked so far. Any advice anyone has would be gratefully received xx
