  1. Thank you to everyone for your help. I have been in touch with La Boucherie who were incredibly helpful and they deliver to sleepy old East Dulwich on a Tuesday. Quite a complicated belief when it comes to cooking, which I respect, it just took a while to work out dishes with different named cuts of meat and also, if I cook it, then it is automatically rendered non Kosher even though it was Kosher when it was bought. Anyway, client knew all this and just wants to make the effort, loves the menu and has booked us to cook for her. So, once again, thank you to everyone who posted ideas on here for me Sue www.suzannejames.co.uk
  2. Please forgive my interuption in your post but I am looking for a certified Kosher butcher in South London for a specific event (with the client advising that if I cook a dish with Kosher meat she will be happy). I do appreciate this will not make it a kosher meal but this is what my client has requested. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Sue
  3. Thats right, the East Dulwich Supper Club returns Date to be released tomorrow Watch this space... Sue www.suzannejames.co.uk
  4. Apologies if this is in the wrong place but my son found a ladies Guess watch on Upland Road on Friday morning Please could you PM me if you think it may be yours Sue James
  5. I would like to say a huge thank you to Monica and everyone else involved with SNUB who have organised the pilot scheme with Aardvark for the food waste recycling. We signed up a few weeks ago now, and as a result of this, we are proud to say that 97% of our waste is recycled, 80% of this directly and the remainder via a single weekly bin collection which is then used at the SELCHP Energy Recovery Facility in Deptford to generate energy. The final step in this amazing achievement has come about by being able to send our waste cooking oil to be converted to Bio-diesel and 100% of our food waste being collected by the Aardvark Recycling scheme (as mentioned above). The food waste is then used to produce high quality compost for use by local community groups and individuals for allotments, green spaces and gardens, which I think is really wonderful. I know that several other business in East Dulwich have signed up to this scheme and believe it is making a huge difference to them too. So back to the start, thank you Monica for this incredible initative. Sue James www.suzannejames.co.uk
  6. Hi I am in work today and it is all very quiet outside, Barry Road has been closed from junction with Upland Road since around 12.15pm I heard that air ambulance had been called but nothing else Anyone know what has happened? Sue
  7. Hi Monoica I am rubbish at gardening but please do remember I can cook and if available, would love to get involved Sue James www.suzannejames.co.uk
  8. Does anyone remember the night club which ran alongside the pizza place at ED station? I worked there when I was about 18 so more years ago than botox will ever confess! You could drive down a long drive way and at the end on the right was the club. I also later workeed in Thistels which is now Le Chardon. As Thistels it was a wine bar which used to do a great Sunday Lunch. Before that, I am told, it was a butchers? What great memories. I love this thread. Sue
  9. I remember when GBK was the Italian restaurant (cant remember the name) and before that it was a fish and chip shop and before that (apparently) it was a cinema? Next door to that was the travel agents and along that parade was an estate agent. Does anyone remember the co-op supermarket, it was massive, but then again I was small! It was along by the traffic lights near the old 7/11. I also remember Deedees, I used to spend all my pocket money there buying scented pencils and nick nacks for my hair. Do you remember when there was a video rental shop along that same parade? It was owned by a lad called Rocky who was the son of PK Chawla who owned the wavyline store and paper shop on the corner of Goodrich Road and Landells Road. I had my first Saturday job in there! On the other corner was a fruit and veg shop and opposite that was a launderette and on the fourth corner was an off license which later had a restaurant at the back. Also, many many years ago on the corner of Crystal Palace Road and Goodrich Road was a bakers and opposite that was a fish and chip shop, a hardware store, a cobblers (which later became a ladies hairdressers) and a cafe. In the opposite direction going up CPR on the corner was a strange old shop which sold Caribbean food, a butcher and an off license. Opposite the off license (next to the Castle pub) was a small Indian Restaurant as well. Further down Crystal Palace Road, near the wholesale hair supplies was a green double fronted shop which used to sell "antiques"? Just a little way along and on the other side, corner of Crystal Palace Road and Whately Road was a butcher and another cafe.
  10. Sue, hi I was not approached by Medicare but was approached by someone claiming to be from Southwark Council asking if I wanted to advertise with them in their local directory. They said I would be one of only 3 catering companies and that I had to sign up "today". I took the chaps name, number, email address and telephone number and rang Southwark council to confirm. They tried to contact him and all details turned out to be false. My alarm bells only rang because the chap gave me an email address which was [email protected] and I know that southwark are [email protected] and his number was 0207 516 ???? and I know that southwark are 020 7525 ???? Just thought you may be interested to know. All the best Sue www.suzannejames.co.uk
  11. Hi Josh We were trying to sell a house in Nunhead this time last year and had ED EA quotes down to 0.5% and up to 2%. Sadly we did not manage to sell and have lovely tennants in there now. Buzz word in any industry is "Negotiate"! Sue

  13. I wish I was free. Would it be too much to ask if you could find out if they are planning any more courses? ?15.00 is a bargain. I have been on one before at La Maison du Chocolat in Piccadilly and it was around ?50.00 but you did not make anything, just listened and tasted (a very small amout) after the talk - which actually was in French with a translater!
  14. My husband has just been told the power will be off for about another 6 hours Sorry for the bad news Sue
  15. ooh! ooh! I know what happened because my husband had to call the fire brigade. ooh! well! what happened is that smoke was coming out of a man hole cover near Lordship Lane on Goodrich Road this afternoon then suddenly flames came out from beneath. The fire brigade arrived within minutes (thanks to a nifty call from my husband)and had to close part of LL and Goodrich Road. My parents live on Goodrich and have no power either and all they have been told is that it should be on soon and that about 150 homes have been affected. Sue

  17. Muttley I am quite new at the whole forum thing. After following your lead I read over the other posts. Quite interesting. I only said it how it was for us. Although in my opinion OS were a tad dim to think they could get away with it. So there you go back to the good chaps near the library! Bob, good luck with your place too.
  18. Thank you Keef. Mark I am a local business woman, my company is on Barry Road. Enough about me - I was really just so impressed with the way they greeted us, their approach and the deal on the table. I went to a few others on LL with my friend and found them all "samey". Also the chains generally were quite unhelpful and unable to negotiate, the big new one!! was desperately keen but again unable to negotiate. The only other one which impressed us was the one at the bottom of LL, Osborne something. The chap in there was lovely and offered a good % as sole agent but this was an offer which finished quite soon. I wrote earlier because Pickwick (just by Dulwich library)! were honestly just lovely and I think that is something that should be spoken about rather than kept a secret.
  19. I am not at liberty to say, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised. There are 2 guys who have just taken it over, she met Adam, just ask for him.
  20. Hi All My friend is selling her 3 bed house in Nunhead and went to Pickwick Estates, (just by Dulwich library) she cant stop raving on about them and as they are an independant estate agent they were able to offer her a fantastic deal. I wont say how much as you really need to speak to them for yourself all I will say is that they beat the %`s being quoted above and look at each property on its own merits. Also I did go with her to some of the agents and felt they were all the same however just on entering Pickwick the whole approach was different..... Negotiate thats her secret, if you dont ask you certainly wont get.
