  1. Just sent you PM
  2. We are looking for someone who plays the bagpipes for Burn's Night in January. If you know of anyone please do let us know or email [email protected] with details.
  3. Hi Everyone, Again, just wanted to thank EVERYONE for all your support and offers of help. It is really appreciated to know there are so many people out there offering their kitchens, vans, computers etc. to help us get back on track. The vans currently have a new home as all the keys were stolen and the rather slow and cumbersome computers we have had donated are doing their job - just! It has knocked us a bit but we have let our clients know now and they have been very understanding too. I would love to keep the artwork here however we did promise that the Harris Girls could have it and I think it is an excellent home for such a well thought out piece. (We are trying to get it seen in a local gallery so if anyone would like to display it please do get in touch [email protected]) For those of you who have not yet read the Dulwich and South London Press then please do take a peek at page 2! For those who know of it, Dulwich Online is another excellent local website on which you will soon be able to read a message from one of the young artists who tells all about the background and thought process that went into the project. Its absolutely awful what has happened and a few staff worked elsewhere for a few days however its all fixable and we will not be rendered a crumbling wreck of a business because of a few horrid people - and of course they did not find our secret mince pie recipe! Thank you all again for your support, please do spread the work about the Artwork. It would be great to get as many people to see it and love it as much as we do. It will need to come down in about 2 weeks time though. In particular can I please thank Steve at Turners Motors 020 8693 1175 Andre at Little Blue Fish 020 7732 0895 Chris at Pure Mackintosh 07956 288 958 Micky at MJ Lawless Plastering (my hubby who stood in immediately and boarded us up when no one else was available) 07930 678 989 All of whom we did take up their offers of help and all of whom we could not have been up and rerunning so fast.
  4. Hi All Here is the link to the artwork. I am thrilled you all like it, thank you for your comments. I am trying to make something positive out of such an horrendous experience - not just for myself having discovered it but also for the whole team who are now coming to work in what was looking like a derelict building.....which of course it is not! I would like to personally thank (again) the students and teachers at Harris Girls Academy in East Dulwich for their hard work and the thought that went into the project. We have been overwhelmed by the interest and so please do look out for more details in the Evening Standard, South London Press and Reliant (plus more I hope) http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,996510 Would you destroy something perfect to make it more beautiful? #foodforthought!
  5. Last Saturday evening Suzanne James Catering, London's leading sustainable Catering and Events Company was burgled. Following the burglary we now have a rather ugly boarding screen covering up the window outside the front of the office which faces on to Barry Road, one of the main roads in East Dulwich. We want to turn what has been a rather horrible occurrence into something positive for the community and South East London. Art students from a local Academy will be coming along to design food art on the board and make it look a lot more attractive and provide the community with some creative art work to admire. We are looking for a local artist or artist within London to come and assist the girls, teach them how to tackle such a project and design something themselves. This will hopefully take place on Monday and there are a couple of local newspapers coming along who are interested in the story. If you know of anyone who might be interested then please email [email protected]
  6. Oliver now sleeping - exhausted poor lamb. We are unsure quite what happened but driver of car stayed with him (thank you), police and ambulance crew were beyond wonderful. At Kings his X-ray showed a clean but nasty break with nerves to his 3 smaller fingers possibly being trapped and coupled with the swelling, meant he had to have his arm manipulated into shape. This was done with entinox (?), this seemed to take forever but in reality was just a couple of mins. Further X-rays showed it best to have K wires inserted to assist with his bones staying in the right place and this was done in surgery at midnight. We would all like to thank EVERYONE, friends and family, neighbours who called us, to our work colleagues who got to the scene in minutes, to schools, EDF members who have sent their wishes and offers of help and support through to police, ambulance crew, nurses, doctors and well just everyone, you have given us all such relief to know there is someone there when you need them. You have all been overwhelming, thank you all so much. And a final thank you to my friend Corinne who baked Oliver a batch of his favourite choc chip cookies as these are all he wanted to eat! C you are a legend, thank you. Xx
  7. Such a huge amount of well wishers both public and DM. Thank you all so very very much. Will have full update very soon. In surgery now S x
  8. Yes. My son Oliver. He is ok and in Kings awaiting surgery. Will update as soon as I get to my computer.
  9. I had been going out at 5.30am with my brother and dog until last week (when bro twisted his ankle) anyway, he must have looked like dog walker and me jogger. I was going on ahead to get car when I felt a 'presence'. In between us was a man walking maybe (IMHO) a little too fast, this was Friern Road btw. I turned, looked at him, he then speedily entered a gateway, appeared to knock on a door then exited the path within a few seconds. I found it very strange behaviour for 6.10am or anytime for that matter - as did my brother. Nothing happened to either of us but the behaviour was just very edgy. And I am not suggesting anything was going to happen, it was just very strange that's all. I would say leave it til after 6.45am when many more people are around and always be with someone.
  10. My six year old goes to this an absolutely loves it. Highly recommend giving it a try

  16. Lady D, hi Actually I did not give cash up front, I took him to his car in mine (!) and then the way in which he spoke to me changed slightly. He went from being friendly to avoiding the usual chit chat which you would have with a local busines - "hows business" etc. He also added a lot into the deal, he said he would add a couple of bottles of white wine and a bottle of whisky and it was at this point, with him in my car, that the alarm bells were ringing loud in my ears. No one just adds things onto a deal for no reason. He abruptly told me to turn left, no right, no left, no right, pull over and park here. Ok he said, "now I will go get the champagne" I told him I could help so also got out of my car and tentatively walked near him, and then he told me to wait there he would be back, perhaps I should put my seats down in the car and thats was it. I knew I had been done and left him. I did not want any trouble, he is a well built man - too many portions of fish and chips rather than muscle, but nonetheless, could probably put out a good punch, and then I thought, what if he has someone else round the corner? What makes me furious with myself is that I let this stranger in my car (!) drove him up the road, did not tell the team where I was going or have my phone with me. DOH! And I dont even sell Bollinger so I was not to make a fast buck out of anyone. I said yes as I thought it would be a nice treat for the team, maybe use some over the summer, it was just an incredible opportunity and what it turned into was an incredible lesson. And JtC I agree with you, I wrote this post knowing I would get some stick - I deserve to get some. But had I not posted then Robotcat would not have posted and I would not have googled the name and come up with the picture. I also agree with your gambling addiction note. Perhaps he needed the cash to pay someone off, but what if the next person is not as lucky as me. What if the next person thinks big and hands over a vast amount of money which they have taken from the till, thinking they are doing the business a favour? What if he says, Hi I am John James, Suzannes dad, you know caterer on Barry Road? He just seemed to know enough to get by.
  17. 4 other people in my office saw him and have identified him and the company in Herne Hill are currently checking their cctv footage to see if they have an image of him. I really dont blame ???? for having a giggle at my expence, but only if it means that just one business is spared this mans con then fair play, it has been worth it. Perhaps even? a business will have read this and may have the opportunity to call the police, and if they do then please get in touch. Gut feeling If it seems to good to be true... A fool and his money are easily parted Magic beans I can take it all on the chin, but you wait til he goes into a business and takes some real money, or what if he is desperate and turns to violence? Please be careful, this man is good.
  18. I hope ???? your turn will not come Go on, have a giggle, I do not mind in the least. I dont do anything dodgy in my business and would not. This guy was just very convincing and I wanted to alert others. And would you consider donating some of your magic beans to my schools project? If so then yes please!
  19. Actually... Man walks into business, shakes hand, introduces himself as neighbouring business and says team have asked him to pop in and see me. So not quite "want to buy some magic beans"! And by putting the details on the EDF I have been able to identify him AND it now appears that he tried the same scam in Herne Hill about 2 months ago. He is obviously working the area.
  20. Ouch! I dont blame you all for having a giggle. I posted because I wanted to let you all know that he is in the area. Please be aware of his scam, he is pretty convincing. Now that I have found the photo perhaps he wont be able to use his con on an unsuspecting business.
  21. Have done! Am waiting for someone to get back to me And Toptotty, will crack on with this Sue PS Thank you to all on EDF for your help - Miss Marples watch out!
  22. Robotcat thank you, I am sorry to hear that your place of work was conned. I googled his name and came across the link below which actually shows an image of him. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/3088287.stm
  23. Sounds like the same guy. Said he was John Brooks, brother of Roy and the guys in the office said he should call up and see me! Noticably bandy legs is more polite than saying walked like an ape! Perhaps I should not be so considerate of someones feelings!
  24. Just to let you all know, there is a con man on the loose today... He offered us Bollinger Champagne at 12 bottles for ?100.00, he said he was John Brooks, brother of Roy Brooks the local estate agent. Did not have anything to hand and wouldn`t deliver anything usless given cash in advance, as he has not returned I am pretty sure it was a scam. I have been to see Roy Brooks and they have confirmed no knowledge of him. I have informed the police. No doubt his story will change to suit your circumstances. We were offered champagne as we are a catering company. He is around 50 - 60 years old, dresed in a suit, with noticably bandy legs, fairly plump or a typical build for a man of that age, short dark hair with touches of grey. Comes across very professional, trusting and personable. Please beware. Suzanne
  25. St Faiths Church Hall Holds a good number of children and adults and has a great garden and excellent car park. Have fun! Sue
