yes agree with you SimonM. I have been in there on several occasions now and been served by a bloke once and a woman two or three times. Neither of them are 'stuck up' in my opinion and were very helpful. ?1.50 is fine for a baguette in my opinion and the bread, cakes and tarts are delicious. Am very happy it is on Grove Vale, just wish they were open on Sundays -i did ask and she said 'Not yet' which is promising....

it was pretty cringe worthy -"please let me stay Sir Alan, please". if it had been me, i would've booted Micheal off too - just for that performance. but then i guess two leaving in one show can't continue, or the series wouldn't last as long! totally agree on Raef's comment -i was laughing out loud at that one too!

cockney Lee annoys me. there's a time and a place for "Come ON!!" and "That's what I'm talking ABOUT!!" Lucinda and Claire seem to be doing well. And for some reason I'm liking Raef too (i am not sure why, and am a little uncomfortable that i do like him!)

great news! really pleased to hear this. will pop in on saturday for sure. good luck with it

sunrises, sunsets, looking out at oceans, or national parks - all the various vistas from our campervan on mine and mrd's trip round oz. seeing my sister there waiting for me, as i came through the arrivals gate, every single time i flew home, after long periods of time spent overseas. me and mr d sitting in our car (on a drive up through the kruger really early one morning) having a sandwich breakfast while zebras, giraffes and impala surrounded us, all having theirs too, munching on leaves and little zebras playing, chasing each other. we were all there for around half an hour or so, in the early morning light and it was so peaceful and beutiful - was amazing. this is a very nice thread marmora man. it's put me in a really nice mood, thinking of some beautiful memories. thanks!!

Bar Story is also really nice - and think they do a quiz on Monday nights

Totally agree mlteenie. Also I'm not really that keen on handing over all my credit or debit card details to some random on the street, whether it's for charity or not. I can see why they do it however it does annoy me - it's a personal choice to donate money or not. I would rather sign up via the internet than giving all my details in the street. (edited for spelling)

i'm sorry spadetwown boy but i am a little lost. why would it have been dealt with "very promptly" then and not now??
-
its queue 1 - very quick and pay a fair amoung extra queue 2 - normal speed and pay a bit extra in the usual amount of first class postage or queue 3 which is super saver where they have informed you in advance that it will be slower and is free LuvPeckham - you seem to want to stand in queue 3 but get the service of queue 2??

i signed up for amazon prime whereby you pay ?50 for the year. then everything that you order (as long as its available) is sent next day for free. i was a bit dubious at first about what things are available on amazon prime but since signing up (about a couple of months ago) everything i have wanted has been available with prime. have made my money back already and now everything else for the year is free delivery. if you use it a fair bit then it's well worth it.

These fines are meant to discourage folks from doing stuff. if the fine was only ?10 it wouldnt be very effective would it? so yes, i think its's ok to be fined ?60 (or ?120) for not parking correctly.

not at all keef - the more general the better in my opinion. i understand that parents want their kids to see other kids with similar parents/family set ups etc - to show their kids that they are not the only ones with two mums or one asian parent and one english parent or a black mum and asian dad etc. however at the same time, it's very important for your kids to see other families that are different to them - so a general parents group would be kind of group i'd want for my kids. i dont want my kids to see families that are the same as mine - i want them to see mixed up families and know that all of them are just fine! i guess i was just wondering what the reaction would be if i asked people for recommendations of groups in the area that were only for blacks or asians...

what if i had asked Are there are black/asian parents out there who'd fancy meeting up mid week on a fortnightly basis? My girlfriend and I are parents to a 10 month old and feel it would be good to meet up with other parents and do fun things together. I wouldn't intend it to be a discussion group per se...simply a kids/parents get together. There's loads on for white parents but v little for the blacks/asians in ED!

Hoarding around The Green restaurant...? (Lounged)

i know -come on people - this is ridiculous. let the business open before you go making comments about how blurgh the food is. little harsh isnt it? -
Fined ?75 for dropping a cigar butt - fair?
missd replied to seanmlow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
gerry there is nothing wrong with trinity suggesting that littering is a dirty habit - that's exactly what it is. dont think her comment needed singling out. -

Too right Sean, and i totally agree with Polly D too - litter is nothing to be proud of. Dog poo, cigarette butts being thrown on the floor and people spitting in the street are the three things that i can't stand when walking around London. Again, maybe the amount of the fine is unfair but you did something wrong and you should be fined for it. It will also mean that you (probably) won't do it again quite so quickly. -

maybe unfair that you got fined so much immediately, without even a warning however.....i am sure you might think twice before you throw a butt on the floor again. and if it makes people think twice then that's a good thing (in my opinion of course). -
Best cover for me is Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson - Valerie. prefer it to the original.

true - i know my info is still in there - however, it's some photos and my hometown -i'm just happy that i'm no longer being tagged and poked, karate kicked or offered drinks that i cant actually drink!! i didnt have any of my personal information up. can't understand why anyone would put up all that informaton up - totally right jah lush -identity theft is a real problem. if someone could convince some call centre worker that they were the chairman of Barclays with something like his address and date of birth, then that's enough information for a whole host of trouble.

I joined facebook and it was good at first to get in touch with some old friends. However I also had a lot of requests from randoms -ie someone i worked with years ago and am no longer in touch with (was barely a friend of mine when we worked together!) - requests like that started to annoy me as people were just adding to their 'friend count'. Then i got people tagging me in photos and i started to get a bit fed up of it all. annaj i totally agree with the point you made that people forget how public it is -some of my friends on there had their addresses, birthdays, cities, some even phone numbers. it's an awful lot of information to have on a very public space. so i comitted facebook suicide and deactivated my account - much happier not being a part of that 'community'
