  1. What about the empty building that used to be the "New Hope Academy?" on the same road as Dulwich Hospital?
  2. Pexmas is brilliant - our kids really love it, there's always something fun for them to do.
  3. How can a school be forced to bulge if there simply isn't space for the extra students (assemblies, playtime, lunch etc)?
  4. Sounds fab - what time are you drawing the raffle?
  5. This sounds fun, I'd be interested, are daytimes possible at all? Also, have you seen this informal performance opportunity for amateur musicians in West Dulwich in January? http://www.wegottickets.com/event/248442
  6. We did this yesterday and it was loads of fun - really easy for my 2 year old to do. Highly recommended for a rainy day like today!
  7. Seven! It definitely livens up a rather uninteresting corner.
  8. 17th October is a strike day for some schools in Southwark but not all.
  9. 38 pages! Maybe we can post the edited highlights on here to save time!
  10. I missed this! Is it weekly? I'm available next Thursday.
  11. I think I got about ?1.50 an hour in the mid 90s for babysitting when I was 14 - a nice bit of money in my pocket as I babysat at least one evening a week, often 2. I only moved from the sofa and telly when I went to raid the fridge!
  12. Does minimum wage apply to teens (was presuming we're talking about youngsters here, not over 18s).
  13. ?8 is too much for evening babysitting, I think ?5 an hour is fair, especially if the kids are in bed. Food, snacks and a lift/taxi home mandatory!
  14. Too bad about Old Villa - their stuff's really nice but it's very, very expensive.
  15. I didn't google it but thought it was something to do with the rectum :o
  16. Haven't had it done but keen to know if any good, will keep an eye on this post!
  17. We've been there for a party and it's brilliant. We also did some fun spin painting on a smaller scale for free at a shop up Lordship Lane on Pellatt Road.
  18. What if parents are separated (or pretend to be separated) for the purposes of using a rental property as the address for the application, not the home address? How would that be checked, especially if there is no written custody arrangement.
  19. We went through something similar to this a couple of years. Our position went up and down on the waiting list and I spent several months completely on edge. We only got the school place (at our first choice) one or two weeks before term started. I gave up asking about the waiting list as I would get my hopes up and then have them dashed by finding out I had dropped to 20th place from 1st on the waiting list.
  20. Nobody likes to feel ripped off so it's right to question her price now that you have done your market research, although I doubt she will lower her price now so you'll have to change childminder if you want to pay less. Is there any way you can find out if she charges the same amount to the other children she looks after?
  21. Same with Sacred Heart mixed secondary in Camberwell, this states baptism must be within a few weeks of birth.
  22. Does anyone attend Habs on a Music Scholarship? I'd be interested in finding out more about the audition: Roughly what level do they expect and how many instruments? My son is sitting Grade 4 on one instrument this Summer and I wondered if that is around the level they are looking for?
  23. It sounds quite expensive, we pay ?47 per day (inc meals) in SE22 and this is half-pay for holiday and no sick pay. I remember when I was looking for a childminder, I was quoted a range of prices from ?45 to ?55 but never as much as you have been quoted, nor under those terms. I would perhaps look around and ask for recommendations from friends/forumites just so you feel better informed about prices.
  24. I got some friends together recently for a lampshade making workshop at my home. You can bring your own fabric or select from a couple of choices. Let me know if you want the contact details for the workshop leader - he also hosts workshops for small groups at his shop in SE22. It was really easy to do and great to create something of practical use.
  25. I saw the stall but have never heard of them. I have used Sitters in the past and have also found some great recommendations for babysitters on the forum. There are lots of nannies and childminders that work in evenings and weekends.
