  1. What are your experiences of them? Can anyone recommend an alternative as I?ve had enough of lining his pockets? He must the richest man in ED! I know of a couple of butchers in Nunhead but it?s not that convenient.

    Hoopers beer

What about Green and Blue? Good wine, 2 out of 10 service?

    Splendid. This Friday?

    Hoopers beer

I too live on the road and like the pub and Jamie. I?m surprised so many people care about the name, at least it sounds like a pub name. The beer is good but some of the bottled beers are way too expensive. If only more people frequented the pub then Jamie could reduce his margins or how about this for an idea; reduce margins and increase custom? Sorry to knock the food as well Jamie but there?s too much better local competition. You need a point of difference to attract larger numbers of people. Maybe the type of food? Maybe dramatically reduce prices? What genre is currently not provided for in the East Dulwich area (including Peckham and Camberwell for you ?Post Code Idiots?)? For a short while before The Duke in Nunhead was called Page Two they served great Pizza?s. Admittedly like all other aspects of the pub it all went tits up. I fear for the future on Hoopers. I wish it well and will continue to support it by forcing ever more beer down my throat to support a local community service.
  5. As your first act as Post Code and Borders Commissionaire I recommend that you abolish all place names. We will thereafter only refer to post codes. We can then change EDF to SE22 Forum. Sounds snappy doesn?t it?
  6. As Major my first job will be to employ Keef as Commissioner for Border and Post Code Control and court jester as he is so amusing.
  7. Maybe the best near SE22 award for certain broad categories?

Keef, my point is simple. Defining East Dulwich by post code is crude and simple. Hoopers for example (with a Camberwell postcode) is considerably closer to the social centre of ED than Camberwell. We do not dictate our purchasing behaviour or social behaviour by postcodes. For example I may go out for a drink in Clapham but not SW12!!! If when voting starts there are considerable votes for The Duke in Nunhead for example it should be registered and counted. After all the purpose is to ascertain where we like going/shoping/eating etc ?locally?, not where we like going up to a set of road boundaries as defined by the Royal Mail in the 60?s!

EDF is more like Kevin and Perry; a mildly amusing caricature of adolescent children with behavioural problems. I am frequently disappointed with EDF or the East Dulwich Sarcasm or East Dulwich Smart Arse as it could be called. I believe the EDF could serve two good purposes; firstly to connect local people on specific issues of local interest. ?What?s the best curry house? My plumber is great. They?re going to turn LL into a motorway! Etc.? Secondly for local social networking and banter. Unfortunately some regular contributor?s behaviour is just rude and un-amusing. I suspect behaviour they would never replicate in face to face experiences.
  10. Most amusing thread. I particularly liked "there are too many trees in ED".
  11. Hoopers is 100 yards from having an SE22 post code and less than 500 yards from ED station. However its 1/2 mile from Denmark Hill station and a mile from Camberwell Green. Yes you're correct its got a Camberwell post code but how many people define where they live by their post code. People live in areas that border other areas which means there are blurred definitions. No boundary will please everyone but using a post code strikes me as being clumsy.
  12. * Best Customer Service Impress Dry Cleaners * Best place for a meal Franklins * Best place for a pint Hooper?s * Best bar Locale * Best cheap eat Ho Dok? (Chinese opp' Hooper?s) * Best Sunday lunch Franklins * Best place for gifts ED * Most liked estate agent Property In * Most reliable tradesperson Maurice the Plumber * Best curry restaurant BBC * Best take away BBC * Best newcomer * Best cafe/coffee shop Poor offerings * Most child friendly place * Best Restaurant Palmerstone * Favourite forum person * Jewel of the ED crown (overall winner) Palmerstone or Franklins Estate Agent comments - Of course people use more than one estate agent! Would you buy, sell, let or rent a property without considering options. "Most people have only dealt with one" - Utter rubbish! Area covered - Of course it should go beyond SE22! Would you not go to Hooper?s because it?s in SE5 or The Duke because it?s SE15. I am not a fan of this SE22 snobbery. People don?t care when they?re going for a drink or meal etc! We do not dictate our social lives or buying activity by the boundaries of the royal mail!
  13. Not eaten in the Montpellier but the food in the Duke is excellent.
  14. Precisely what points are we meant to be taking seriously? 15. What on earth are you talking about now? What does this have to do with your original comments? What is your agenda?
  16. I would like to see the letter you send to Boris please.
  17. So you are a comedian. Ha Ha very funny??yes lets get rid of the trees apart from in "appropriate areas". How about we campaign for the increased use of plastic bags and the compulsory burning of car tyres when worn out.
  18. I am relatively new to the EDF so am unfamiliar with the etiquette surrounding responding to people?s postings. Please therefore excuse me if I get it wrong. Are you a comedian? If not I suggest the administrators insist on psyche testing all members.
  19. My first foray on ED Forum and I instantly stumble upon the wonderful mockney piers discussing a local establishment I love. I have no idea what anyone has accused anyone else of! I hope G&B reopen soon and wish them well.
