Hi everyone, congratulations to Emma on the safe arrival of baby Rudy (fab name). Good luck to C for tomorrow- looking forward to hearing your good news. Mel, it would be lovely if you could come along. We are a very informal group of local mums and mums to be (both first time and second timers) who try to meet up every now and then for coffee, cake and a chat. We usaually meet at Green and Blue on Lordship Lane as they have the sofa area at the back. The next meet is planned for Friday at 3. I hope to come along with Isobel. Debbie

Brand New to East Dulwich - what to do with baby in area?!
BEANIE1 replied to Mata_Hari's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi M, there is a thread on the forum called Winter Babies Club. It is a very informal group of local mums who have just had or about to have new babies (mostly first and second timers). We try to meet up for coffee every now and then. Feel free to join us. Debbie -
Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We had an extra special one as I am delighted to tell you that baby Isobel arrived on Thursday 23rd at 7.48pm. She weighed 8lb 2oz and was born at home. The Oakwood midwives were fantastic. Sam is loving his new baby sister. Hope to catch up with people soon. Debbie

Hi everyone, I hope to make it tomorrow. Have been struggling with pregnancy insomnia for a few weeks now but hopefully I shall be able to make it ok. Can do am or pm. Congratulations to Emma, great news. Debbie p.s. It is my due date today so if I don't make it tomorrow, it may be because things have kicked off (fingers crossed)

I wouldn't have thought so. I can't recall an all day closure last time though.

As a teacher, I would say that almost all gifts are very much appreciated especially the chocolate, wine and nice smellies. I say almost all because we do get a few odd ones such as the multipack of big knickers I was given a number of years ago.

Thank you ryedalema for your post. Am a couple of weeks away from my due date and the idea of labour and snow has been a niggle in the back of my mind all the way through this pregnancy. It was really thoughtful of you to reassure all us heavily pregnant ladies.

Parenting and self esteem; thoughts?
BEANIE1 replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Sillywoman, thank you for sorting the badges - I look forward to wearing one. -
The isofix base can be secured to the seat using a 3 point seat belt. There is a blue lever thingy that holds the belt in place. I had to do this in my little micra because I stupidly lost the yellow anchor points which secure the base to the car seat. Using the seat belt and leg anchor works perfectly well and having the base to clip the actual seat into is much easier than having to use the seat belt with the actual car seat every time, especially when baby is asleep. You should have handy picture instructions in the maxi cosi manual and I have seen them on the maxi cosi website. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, would be lovely to catch up. I can't do next Saturday. Could do the following Saturday (the 11th?) Am on maternity leave now so could meet up in the week if anyone is around. Hope you are all doing well. Found out that baby was breech and had an ecv at Kings on Friday. Kings staff were great. Debbie

Parenting and self esteem; thoughts?

Thank you to everyone for your honest and overwhelmingly reassuring posts. As I sit here at 36 weeks pregnant with baby no. 2 (no.1 is now a very lively 2 and a half year old boy)I have had many moments recently of remembering the sheer lonliness that I would often feel first time round. The attempts to get to know other mums and always coming away feeling a bit rubbish and not quite up to scratch. Not to mention the feeling of having nothing useful or interesting to say. And now to think that maybe I was not the only one thinking such things. I can't begin to tell you how reassuring it has been to read your posts now that I am about to rejoin the merry go round of fun which comes with a newborn. I will be coming along to some groups and will happily wear a badge or ask "Do you like biscuits?" and maybe I might meet someone to have a nice chat with. Here's hoping and wishing everyone well. -
I completely agree with others. This forum is not the place to air issues that should be taken up with the school office or headteacher. As for talking to the class teacher at parents evening, surely they were wanting to talk about your child's progress at school and not an admin decision that they probably have no say over.

Congratulations! Keep an eye out for a thread on the forum which will be posted by the administrator - the summer baby club. There is currently one for the spring babies (march to may) so the next one should be starting soon. It's a lovely way to get in contact with other mums who will be having their babies around the same time but in an informal way. Good luck.

nurseries in East Dulwich/Honor Oak
BEANIE1 replied to neilly1973's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son goes to Asquiths nursery on Waveney Road (just on the Nunhead side of Peckham Rye) and has been there for two years. He loves it and we have been very happy. The staff are lovely and the manager Deborah is fantastic. They have very recently be graded outstanding by ofsted and deservedly so. The baby room is lovely. Hope this helps.
