  1. It's the fact I can't deny it that bothers me most - not the fact that anyone knows ;-) But we digress - keep supporting Val's
  2. Just caught up with this thread - (thanks for prompt MP) I am in west end until late tonight - someone keep a copy for me to peruse at a later date - please? And congrats again to you both - don't forget where you came from
  3. And there was me thinking as well as a drink up there was a black-tie do coming up - bah!
  4. * realises finally what all the congratulations to DM are for * * blames an overdoes of skittles sour for inattention * * quickly rings Country Spray and sends a large bouquet *
  5. 2 things in the last week connected with Val's grocers at top of LL Lady MacGabhann went in during the week and found Nisha waxing about her new range of organic milks, youghurts and eggs - so well done Nisha for keeping an eye on the market and let's support here even more now Last night however I went in and had a finger pointed at me - "You, " said Nisha to me "are on the internet all the time yes?" (how does she know that?????!) "Tell me, " she continued, "What is happening in the shops down the road (the ones being knocked through) Is it true it will be a Tesco?" I said to the best of our knowledge, and having spoken to them it's not, she was mighty relieved. Poor woman was really worried tho.
  6. Good news Tillie - thanks for update In a way I'm glad it's not open until next week - allows us to check out the jazz at the Forest Hill Tavern this weekend - but I will take a pootle over to Herne Hill next week So - Castle & Bishop Clarence & Florence what next?
  7. I once sat at home in Ireland with a Christmas sized tin of Kimberly watching Christmas TV and ate the whole lot And they are STILL my favourite biscuit They sell Fry's here too but I think it has been diluted over the years. Not what it was etc. Hated it when I was little but grew to love it sigh.. slight hibernian diversion there, Sorry folks. Ginger Snaps and Tea always work as a biscuit treat for me too
  8. Boasters are indeed more-ish But spadetown boy - are you aware you have only gone an inadvertently reminded me (and DulwichMum if she's reading) of a very specific song from our Irish childhood (s)
  9. Yep - that's a great little shop on a great little crossroads JDR I especially love those bopks they sell ;-) Welcome aboard
  10. * opens a portal to Australia * * jumps through leaving a whiff of cordite behind * * legs it to the nearest sweet shop * * buys some PROPER Sour Skittles * * jumps through portal back to ED and falls 10 feet to the floor as the darn things had drifted up to the ceiling * * Offers skittles to everyone and says "now these, my friends, are S.O.U.R." *
  11. no question - Kimberly biscuits by Jacobs
  12. I don't think Liqourice is a bar-by-numbers. It is it's own thing which may or may not be to everyone's taste but it has always been individual enough to make it one of my more favoured watering holes Until recently I was worried when the old manager had to return to Nottingham and it just hasn't been the same since. I thought it was just me, but it's pretty apparent that many people feel the same way I did go back last week for first time in weeks and there were 4 people behind the bar none of whom I recognised - most unusual. That menu has been cut to the bare bones as well. I hope it picks up again but for now...
  13. Thanks for the update Chantoozie - I might be reverting to the 63 bus route later this year for work so this may come in handy
  14. Ok - so next week appears to be a no-no for all of us - I'll check my diary (properly this time) and post new suggested date for the week after soon
  15. how about the Woolworths in Peckham?
  16. methinks Karter is being playful with his 15-minute drive reference from another thread
  17. Err. I was only guessing slash assuming as i cant see any of the smaller places on the budge end being suitable. Have i stumbled on "the truth"? Cool
  18. Thanks for the updates Karter People have read me ranting about chains on here before but in this instance I don't see whats to get worked up about. The far end of Northcross Rd could do with something (anything) and the type of coffee shop Karter mentions fits the bill. There is that Nero on LL (Nero the nest of the "big" 3 chains by far IMO - sorry DM)but NC Rd is much better suited to this kind of place -
  19. Cheers Mon.. I remember the official reason for the split being "due to musical similarities" which I found amusing
  20. Good shout beatnic I am signed up to Last FM but will have a look for the group
  21. Yeah - best of luck Keef et al Won't be able to make CPT as I am in Wimbledon - but I'll be there in spirits
  22. before too many people commit to the tuesday, can I peevishly request the wednesday now as I had forgotten a diary commitment for the Monday?
  23. * can't vouch for CitizenEd but it would take more than a tux to fool anyone I am JB * * rings Dulwich Park to obtain boat hire rates *
