Hello forum! Single dad seeking a childminder for my 10 year old daughter in Streatham Hill. 6.30pm - 10pm most Mondays at my place. Potentially some other nights ad hoc. PM me if you'd like more details.

A friend of mine just bought in East Dulwich and is really excited to be moving to the area. I wanted to buy some "I Love Dulwich" stuff as a housewarming gift - cushions, coffee mugs, anything really. Does anyone know where I can find these things? Google and all the other usual places haven't turned up much.

Single dad here, trying to navigate the world of a three year old daughter... All she wants to do these days is watch Peppa Pig. With the recent change in weather trips to the park are becoming less frequent and last week-end she must have watched a couple of hours of Peppa Pig each day. Every time I turned it off there were tears. Should I be imposing a limit?

Yes, though I've not used it yet

Thoughts on buying in the Dog Kennel Hill estate...
Sam Toucan replied to tigerlily's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm currently renting a privately owned flat where Southwark are the freeholder. In the year I've been there they have installed a ridiculously over the top smoke detection system (despite the old one working fine), and re-done all the window frames (which were old but also fine). The smoke alarms in particular - was 4 guys for a full day installing and rewiring, I hate to think how much that would have cost the owner! -

The crucial thing being missed is that when a bus reaches the end of the route it turns around and comes back again. So if it takes twice as long to complete the route you need twice as many buses to ensure the buses start out at regular intervals.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I'm considering moving in to one of these apartments. Are there any issues with water pressure? The place I looked at only has an old electric boiler. Are there problems getting broadband internet and TV? I didn't see any satellite dishes or broadband cables on the building anywhere .

Living near Lordship Lane estate
Sam Toucan replied to Sam Toucan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for all the information everyone, and also to those who PM'd me. Apologies to those I appear to have somehow offended. :-) Sam -
Hello there, We're looking at a property down near Lordship Lane estate. Lovely house, but to be honest we're a little uncertain about living right next to the estate, and also on the main road. I checked police.co.uk and noticed that while there seems to be a number of anti-social behaviour problems reported, there's virtually no other crime. Also, the area didn't seem particularly better or worse than East Dulwich generally. Does this match the experience of people who live in the area? Can anyone who lives around there tell me if they've had many problems? Including noise - my partner works shifts and gets pretty grumpy if she misses out on her sleep! Thanks in advance, Sam

Well I guess this just goes to show that ED still has its edge

Hi there, considering moving into one of the streets off North Cross road, near where the market is. I realise parking is bad on market days, how about the other days of the week? Any advice appreciated. Sam

I recently bought a car (woohoo!!), would like to take it for a drive somewhere outside London - perhaps Surrey to visit some friends. Could somebody give me some advice as to the best way to drive out on a Saturday / Sunday?

Gimme Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Do single men eye 35 year old women with suspicion > (i.e. "do you want a husband and children within 3 > years...")? Yes we do :-) But then they are probably viewing us with suspicion also. (i.e. "is he just another commitment phobic time waster...")

East Dulwich station closed at week-ends
Sam Toucan replied to Sam Toucan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It was open last week-end, (20/8 - 21/8) the first week-end I can remember it being open in a long while. The annoying thing is there seems to be no advance warning when the station is closed, I usually find out just as I'm trying to go somewhere!
