  1. I means wherever we are you are. In turn that gives peace of mind for some people, especially elderly. Although not for all (NIMBYSM). But maybe the dare-do-sayers will come around when they realise that you are legal and that they don't have to leave their house for a second to get their cars washed at a very reasonable rate. Far cheaper than the dogsh@t clean my vehicle was given today for ?10 (outside only).
  2. The only problem there is that you assume it will die. It starts life underground where most plants are above with roots below. Glyphosphate has low toxicity for other plants but unproven on other life. It is only a controlled waste problem if you do not burn it - no need for injection or spraying of chemicals. Plus dig it up before the BBQ then you can kill two birds with one stone.
  3. Knotweed requires slash and burn. It can grow from a "severed both ends" cutting milimetres in length. Injection does not work all the time. George 74 is correct that it needs containment and it is probably the best survivor of the plant world as it would seem it defies the need for photosynthesis and can continue growing without a root structure. I have some in my garden but I remove all growth beyond where I would like it. At some point I have to replace the fence panel it seems to like and then I will burn the soil using paraffin then remove the ground and replace with top soil. It is extermely invasive but containable and should not be allowed to spread. As for bamboo...........put it in a strong container and not direct into the ground.
  4. Are there beavers in ED ? Interesting question ? A beaver works to remove lumber to build, that tree is still there. They also tend to dam - maybe they would drag it up to the Japanese garden in Dulwich Park. Did anyone notice the very high winds last night. (All tongue in cheek).
  5. They came to our house but failed to notice the already installed alarm. That tells me all I need to know.
  6. @computedshorty Life must be such a drag. I for one think the Spurling Road effort awesome. The wall before the mural needed attention. As for road signs that was lazy but in the modern world of sat nav I don't think it a major issue.
  7. It happens all the time. I work out front of properties a lot and I see vans driving by just seeing what is in front gardens. If not a van then someone on a bicycle. It appears that belongings in front gardens are fair game, obviously they are not, but it seems the way now, so don't leave anything of value out there. Especially bikes - after "bedtime".
  8. Yes he is and it is huge. Looks like he hasn't finished yet.
  9. Just get your mains pressure tested - then you will know if there is a leak. If your drinking water doesn't come from the mains then that is odd. A tank should, in most cases, only be for things like the toilet and bathroom sink, shower. Which as you aware is the water that you brush your teeth with - so investigate that also. Other than that I drink the water from the tap, around the corner from you, by the gallon.
  10. @Saffron If it isn't adults or children then who is it. Ghosts ? This isn't in repsonse to the OP's original post.
  11. You should have called the coppers. ;-) ;-)
  12. I guess that from what has been discussed we should make an effort to call the police if we are involved in an altercation that has been unduly brought upon us or that if we witness an incident then do the same. In that way we can be safe in the knowledge that as a South East London community we can be seen to care for one another. We can bicker about it later, once the facts are proved.
  13. Apparently they were wearing "England" tops, not local or Milwall. And being that it happened the next day they were probably a bit hungover to start a fight or walk the dog. Wembley is NW London. But we can paint a picture, hypothetically.
  14. @Penguin "immediately" following the Millwall led fighting at Wembley the "day before". Put down the Daily Mail please. ;-)
  15. Point taken. A dog off lead, was it close to the perpetrators when the incident happened ? How did the jogger come close to the perpetrators to be hit - apparently they were out of shape so he could have carried on jogging ? The park was very busy - yet no one who witnessed this incident called the police. You may see this as picking holes but if someone had called the police then these are the questions that would be asked in a court. As I said I will keep an eye out for them and use my phone. If no one calls the police then nothing changes - its a bit late when all you are going to do is report it. No witnesses - no case. So we just post it on here and then we can all be wary that when when jogging we may bump into their dog - if it happens to me I will stroke it.
  16. @JohnL Could "possibly" be, but we have ascertained that they both had beer bellies. Going on that I would assume that they are not much into "roids", unless recreational, which would be a bit strange.
  17. @DulwichBornandBred I take it the utter idiot comment was in reference to myself. I only asked for the full story. Which eventually came. Anyone can post on here that something "bad" happened to thenselves or partner and then we can all agree how bad it must have been. Yet, I will always play devils advocate as we do not know the full circumstances. If I am an idiot for that then let the lynch mobs out.
  18. I will PM you if I see anything and I will keep my eyes peeled. Best regards to your man.
  19. I don't condone what happened. If the guy was beaten up then yes it is bad thing to happen. Although I felt there maybe something more to the story. We should be able to ask or question if there was to negate fear of park jogging. Or maybe not in this case, sorry to rock the boat.
  20. No not at all - maybe he lost his temper - that isn't justification for violence. Also I never said violence is an acceptable response. The fact that you respond to me that the jogger was attacked, without any real proof, makes me devils advocate. Strange the dog didn't react.
  21. @Penguin No, just would like the full story. All I have heard is a second hand story from someone who was "minutes away". The person who got the thick lip can say what he wants and that has been reported here, alarmingly, second hand, by his other half, who was, again, not a witness. Maybe the two 5 foot 8" very aggressive, beer bellied, english t-shirt wearing thugs were minding their own business. Who is to say who caused the incident ? I'm not trolling - I just don't think we need to be afraid of going to the park.
  22. @Alice From what I surmise - a dog was tangled in a joggers legs - jogger gets a thick lip. What happened in between ? Apparently it was two 5ft 8" beer bellied, english football top wearing, very aggressive women with a pitball off the lead......men, sorry.....
  23. I agree with Kidkruger - full story please.
  24. mmmm - haven't had a topic for a while now
  25. Hi pipsky, Quite correct - and Sainsburys are doing 2 for 1 on shotguns at the moment. Apart from that - I would suspect they will return to the park and people of the forum are now aware so iphones at the ready, not shotguns.
