cella The response you got was impolite & nasty & you were probably right not to turn it into a confrontation. But how is that the fault of the Leisure Centre? There is no vetting procedure about temprament or social skills when you apply for a membership card & the catchment area is very wide & so covers a whole host of different people. Mostly, in my experience, ok but unfortunately with your runner being rude & acting like a twat, which is not acceptable. Even if she was acting within the "rules" that are suggested. But if you are polite to the staff & can pay .... you are allowed in. Which she unfortunately was. Your point about a 20 minute limit at all times might be valid, so why not pursue it through the relevant channels? Which probably do not start at the Centre itself as there never appears to be anybody there with genuine authority. This new centre is a tremendous resource that appears to be being run on a shoestring, many plus points & a few negatives. With a few issues around the quality & quantity of the staff. A few helpful suggestions probably don't go amiss ...... at least give them an idea of how to tweak things for the better.

I'm with Vodafone & apart from a few gaps up & around Sydenham Hill/Crystal Palace area (not Rd) when I think you are too close to the transmitters on the mast(?) I seem to have good coverage, both at home & when driving about the area.

Just bumping this one up the list. Work starts Tuesday. So alternative route avoiding this end of Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Road & Grove Vale could well be a good idea.

Has the Spring hour gain made any difference? 4.30 now in effect 5.30? The planes leave their destinations in the far East or the States at their local time, I don't imagine they change departure times to suit us swapping an hour to BST. They won't leave to deliberately land during the curfew I guess, but if it leaves New York at 8.00pm it will leave at 8.00pm & take 7 hours to get here, whatever time that is here.

I am intrigued by the idea that somebody who's day to day job involves peeing into used drink bottles & then abandoning them at the roadside, is so switched on in media manipulation that he/she is mounting a campaign for attention. Making practical use of opposable thumbs & ending the day without wet trousers would seem to be a more likely goal.

New collection on doorstep of old pub, corner of Spurling & Crawthew. Looks like been a hot few days .... very dark in colour!

This junction is currently dangerous & it is caused almost 100% by poor driving, aggravated by ill thought out sequencing to the lights. It cannot be beyond the gift of man to phase these lights correctly & safely can it? E.G. Separate time for Right turn filter from Goose Green direction, maybe with a simultaneous left turn filter from the Barry Road direction. I'm not the expert here ...... but as a user .... what I do know is .... that what we currently have is poor.

As somebody who trains there twice a week, Mon or Tue then Thur or Fri. Always starting at about 18.15 - 18.30 I'm afraid I cannot agree with your description. Yes on a Monday in particular the gym is busy at this time, but with flexibility in which Cardio machine we use Run/step/Rotax/cycle/row we do not routinely wait more than 5 mins to find one free, each. & Monday is the worst day. The rest of the week is noticeably easier, easing down to no queueing problem whatsoever on either Thurs or Friday. Same with the resistance machines, flexibility in varying the sequence on Monday & Tuesday is usual. But with no issues later in the week. I'm not saying that some evenings we don't miss abbs altogether if the mats are full ....... but maybe that is more to do with being lazy & says more about us than the gym. To say the gym is busy? I would agree, yes! it is ....... but to me that "atmosphere" is a good thing .... more nodding acquaintances to say "Hi" too & less time to dawdle/waste between sets, as you feel the need to vacate the machine. It ain't perfect (& I'm not striving to be Mr Universe)...... but of the two others I have tried, it is by far the best for the level I want.

Assuming that the bottles do contain Pee? (& I am not offering to do a test ... smell, taste ... or otherwise!) what law/by-law is actually being broken? Littering? Certainly. Anti-Social Behaviour? Almost certainly. But is there a specific regulation about human waste (as yet unproven) being dumped in the street? It seems that gentle polite ribbing has not deterred the culprit yet, so what actually can be done to make the point in a way that will be taken seriously? As it really needs to stop. Any hint of warm weather or spillage will make this a very unpleasant habit.

Phew. I'm glad the Iguanas are safe. But I really did spot a very large lizard this morning. Didn't appear to be moving much either ...... particularly pale & lethargic in fact! But Before we panic & call out the RSPCA i was just going to see if an electric blanket would help. Just see if my extension lead will reach ....... to Crystal Palace Park ...... :))

Been a few days now with no tirade against PJ's. Wassup? Surely there must have been a discarded Pizza box somewhere in ED so we can all lambaste them for encouraging litter? Or a misplaced napkin that has enraged the sensibilities? With no moans here & no wee in Worlingham, the weather is making this a real slow news week!

Overground/Underground from FH to Canada Water, then Jubilee Line. Could be that we are just far enough away to avoid the predicted jams, restrictions & price rises, yet near enough to have a 45 min journey time. Greenwich may be a bit more awkward to get too though. As traffic there is bad with normal volumes. Heaven knows how they are going to cope with a few thousand more commuters? River-bus maybe?

Looking at the photos of the bottles all lined up on the green box, the variation in colour is quite pronounced. Do you think this could be a way of measuring Climate Change? Hot days = dark liquid? Cool days = lighter? Bit like Dendrochronology (tree rings) we could use them to plot the temperature fluctuations in Worlingham Road. 3 x dark bottles could mean the hottest weekend in January since records began. (3 weeks ago???)

cella. That was my point. They seem to be simply ignoring completely the whole forum farrago! They are not on their knees pleading for forgiveness with the hoards of incensed locals. It's quite possible that counting the number of satisfied customers so far (in the several 100's?) vs. the number of really serious complainants (2 - 3 - 5?), they have a less than 1% "issue". & if the worst thing about their fast food business is where they park their trailer .......... they ain't doing bad!

They are answering. Just not in the way you would prefer.

Now we have averted a major & catastrophic implosion of the ED aesthetic & got the trailer moved ....... can anybody give any feedback as to what the pizzas are actually like? As I do fancy one this eve ......

Yes my understanding is that it's not an offence to stop you getting into your drive, but it is to stop you getting out. So if your car is blocked in ... make the call. If not, or the drive looks like its not used for parking a car, (to narrow, full of bins, plants etc) then I fear you won't get anywhere. & all of this only applies if there is legitimate dropped kerb pavement access. A DIY converted front garden that involves bumping up the kerb for access, will not be recognised as a "drive" & therefore won't be recognised as being blocked.
