As a warning that may also be a deterrent I think the photos should be shown. My guess is that the damage to this car (ripping it in two) would indicate this car was doing more than 30 mph, which is just plain stupid & dangerous. Not only to the driver but also to pedestrians, cyclists & other road users. As mentioned, the driver of this car, walked away, no doubt helped by air--bags, pre-tensioners & a modern car design ... and good luck to him. But what if the car or even the engine had hit a personbefore it finally stopped!!!! Doesn't bear thinking about! Shocking photos of the effects of smoking are deemed to help scare people to their senses, why not the same with the effects of stupid driving?

I think there is an embryonic idea for an East Dulwich centric, map based Board Game in here ..... Along the lines of ..... a race from Horniman's too East Dulwich Station, without getting fleeced, maybe with bonus points gained for using back roads & alleys, buying overpriced meat, fish or coasters made from Thai tin cans & penalties for loitering on the main roads or using Sainsbury's!!! If we get our act together we could have this available for ?49.99 in North Cross Road by Christmas (other Religious festivals are available) WDYT?

Don't benchmark this plan against Peckham. The price is only 50% lower there, as that is all of the film you will see & hear, above the mobile phone conversations & text notifications & the ensuing abuse when the above are politely challenged. The place is a dump. Set your sights against Brixton & Greenwich, nice welcome, bar, snacks, good choice of films, mainstream & Indie in a very pleasant viewing environment!

Renata Are you saying that there are plans already drawn up & in hand, but that they won't actually start doing the work in the ground till after the Olympics? Or The survey & whole investigation process are going to be done, but even this won't start till after the Olympics?

So a junction can remain a bottleneck, causing jams & inherently dangerous ..... as long as TFL are happy as it is? Thats seems an odd way to look at road safety.

It would seem that even to the "non expert" eye that the phasing of the lights at this busy junction is just plain wrong. Making them dysfunctional & counter productive to smooth traffic flow at best & plain dangerous at worst. So what can be done to stimulate the responsible persons into doing something? & by "something" I don't mean parking the camera Smart Car on the grass to catch a few illiterate numpties turning right against the sign! Illegal acts are just that, illegal & cannot be condoned nor accommodated, it's the whole overview of phasing & flow across the junction that needs a review.

Blackbird chicks all gone. There yesterday morning, bouncing around garden during the day .... & all gone now Plus point, we still have oodles of Great Tit chicks on feeder all day.

This is the culprit! Fluffy tail? Hardly surprising given how many Sunflower seeds he's tucked away!

Boxes for Swift/House Martins/Swallows (Phew think I got away with that one....) sound like a good idea. I've not seen any for sale, the ones available seem to be mainly for smaller birds, Blue Tits or similar, any suggestions on where we can buy some locally?

He's causing his own little spike in our Crime Figures that one!

As much as the church needs/should protect itself, does not this constant false alarming actually work against that goal? As just now, it would seem that the very neighbours who could prove helpful in alerting the Police if they hear the alarm are sinking into the frame of mind when they will actually completely ignore any legit activation. Of course some system is needed, as metal theft etc by despicable gangs of opportunist scumbags needs to be minimised ... but .... crying "wolf!" quite so often, is probably proof that a re-think of the current system is needed.

House Martins have been seen. Sunday i think ..... quite low & only 1 or 2. But their distinctive call was in evidence. I believe (but stand to be corrected...)that their altitude is temperature dependant. Hot days create stronger thermals that carry their small insect dinner higher into the air column. & on cooler days with the thermals weaker, lunch stays nearer the ground .....

Sparrows are now amongst the rarest of birds we see. One or two very occasionally at our feeders. To try & cover all bases we have feeders for nuts, sunflower seeds, & fat balls. Sunflower needs filling every day .... peanuts much less often & fat balls .... never! Blue Tits, Great Tits, Robins, Blackbirds, Wrens & Wood Pigeon are all regular visitors. Sparrows, Jays, Goldfinch & Magpies are occasional visitors. Oh yes .... & Squirrels ........... but at least now they have sunflower seeds they have stopped pulling up the bulbs!

It does smell like Rape to me. Combination of ample rain & a bit of warmth must be bringing on a bumper crop..... & the wind is just bringing it in our direction.

always had good food & great service from here. & when you ask for a large cod ...... boy is it large!

Pair of Goldfinches in the garden this morning. Never seen them before .... beautiful. Hanging seed feeder seems to be working, although at times it does resemble an "eat all you can" buffet .... for squirrels!

I know this may sound really obvious, but I had to retune several times for missing stations ... cos I didn't press "Save" after tuning. Just came back out of menu. All good now.

Finding the missing day is the easy bit. It's her credibility that is proving even more elusive.

Magpies being a real nuisance to our nesting blackbirds. Not sure if they are after eggs or chicks ... but they are really having a go! Blackbird alarm calls at all times of the day.

I had hoped that they would have actually carried out some modifications rather than just tidy it up. The tidy up is most welcome. BUT Reducing the diameter by a meter or two, would probably have made it less prone to damage & smoothed the traffic flow round it somewhat. They seem to have taken the best part of a week to refurb what will only get damaged again fairly quickly. Would it have been more disruptive to take a few days longer to re-model? Oh well.

Hows it doing? Use or avoid this rush hour?
