  1. As someone who used to be self-employed and living in East Dulwich I have to point out that Caffe Nero is the only place you can really work - it's not possible anywhere else, so if it bothers you that much why not just go to one of the other million coffee places on Lordship Lane! It's not freeloading, it's just a way of getting out of the house, not everyone can have a lovely office to work in. Also, I'm quite sure that if you ask someone for a chair they'd be more than happy to give it to you.

  3. Hi all, Not sure if I put this in the right thread but here we go! I'm just wondering if there are any private tutors/one-to-one teachers who would be able to give me some advice. I'm a qualified EFL teacher and I want to start giving one-to-one classes to earn some extra money. The problem is that I don't feel comfortable going to the house of someone I don't know (I'd be teaching adults) and I can't do lessons in my own flat. Does anyone know of anywhere round here that could be another option? A quiet cafe perhaps? Thanks in advance for any advice :)
  4. Thanks pcmesq :) Yeah Grainger's own team were brilliant, we never had any problem with them at all and they always fixed everything really quickly. I think that's what makes it worse that they were taken away and replaced with this company. It just really annoys me when small local businesses/services are taken over by national companies who are so impersonal and you can never actually speak to anyone in charge. Grrrr ;)
  5. Oh no! That's terrible! And they haven't been to do anything about it yet? I hope you get it sorted soon!!!
  6. :'( So sad........hopefully the new bakery will also be good! fingers crossed :)
  7. Has anyone else had a problem with Grainger's new maintenance company Kier? I live in The Gardens and am seriously unimpressed with the service! It's gone from an amazing local maintenance team to a company who so far have been a nightmare!
  8. Does anyone know where I can recycle ink cartridges in east dulwich? Thanks!
  9. Thank you so much!!! That is so helpful, now I actually understand what I'm writing about a little bit more :S
  10. Hey!! This isn't about East Dulwich but as I live here I thought some lovely East Dulwich people might be able to help me in a desperate situation!!! Basically, I have to hand my MA project in on Mon, which is a translation from Spanish to English about rights of Indigenous peoples in Latin America. There's a couple of things that have come up that I just don't understand and I'm wondering if there are any legal type people out there that can help me?? Firstly, anyone know what limit of sovereignty is?? Secondly, I have to translate something that translates as "diminished legal capacity" but in English I've seen "diminished legal responsibility" a lot more! Is this the same thing? And lastly does anyone know whether to use v or vs when abbreviating versus in British English? Any help greatly appreciated!!!! :)
  11. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!! Unfortunately Southwark sports club won't let the hall for teenage parties, this seems to be the main problem, there are a lot of halls but can't seem to find one that will allow teenagers!!! :(
  12. Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone can help me. I am trying to organise a 15th birthday party for my cousin but don't have a clue where to find a venue. I've heard that many places don't allow teenage birthday parties because they are too much trouble but surely there must be somewhere?!? It needs to be somewhere near here or honor oak/brockley/forest hill etc area. If anyone has any ideas or knows of anywhere that would be great!!! Rachel
