  1. Really interesting to read all the comments on here. I'm opening (subject to planning) a small 10-tap bottle shop/bar in Penge where I moved to. Right on the 176 route by the Homebase stop/just down from Penge West station. As a former ED resident I'm surprised there isn't more of this in ED. Hopefully if the Penge place takes off I can pop one in LL! I'll be crowdfunding for beer tokens soon so I'll keep you posted if you're interested. The taproom and shop will be a physical version of my online beer club www.craftmetropolis.co.uk which I run out of Penge. Cheers all! Speak soon, Oli
  2. Welcome to Penge Ednewmy! Check out the Penge Tourist Board on Facebook, it's a source of all info Penge. We have a new wine/bar/restaurant coming to the high street from Antic gang that own the Goldsmiths and the Alex pub is finally about to open courtesy of Late Knights brewery opposite the fantastic Alexandra Nurseries. If beer is your thing there's a craft beer delivery to your door now doing Penge local rates (courtesy of me!) www.craftmetropolis.co.uk and a new crepe and mussel restaurant on Maple road - it's all go in Penge!
  3. Without risking the wrath of admin my site I posted about the other day has a load of styles from London breweries and has more set to come in the new year. If anyone has any recommendations or additions they would like to see please let me know - I will see what I can do. www.craftmetropolis.co.uk Code CM10 for 10% off and free delivery.
  4. I think a lot of places make an IPA as a default beer as it's solid but you will find most breweries have at least 4 beers on their books that are varied in style and flavour. Jeremy, you are right the American Pale ales do very well especially as they are quite fruity with their hoppyness. Most breweries know they need to satisfy growing tastes and that's great news for beer fans as loads of new beers are coming onto the scene. O
  5. Another vote for Penge, as per lots of threads on here, and all that Otta says on this one. New refurb pub by EDT people Attic opening in few short weeks to add to list of upward development in area. We love it.
  6. Owners of EDT have taken over a pub in Penge and local brewery also are moving into a pub...its on the up and its already great. Viva la Pong?!
  7. Otta, glad to see you are settling in....which pubs have you tried, i'd be interested to know. You're right it would be good to have a busy pub that does that kinda thing well.
  8. opps, already answered....sorry.
  9. We live on Kingswood, between the stations, which means Crystal palace park is 5 min walk from our house or 1 min walk from Penge West. Ace park as well.
  10. I've commented on Penge threads here before and my thoughts remain the same - it's great! BJ has sold it very well and accurately but he's right prices are flying up. O
  11. Moved to Penge from ED. Swapped a lovely but small 1st floor flat for a victorian house with garden next to two stations. It's brill and really on the up. Huge park, useful high street and little gems in terms of cafes/brewers/pub...and close to Ed or CP if you need all that jazz.
  12. Moved from Ed to Penge 6 moths ago and adore it. Don't miss much from Ed, in fact I think it's better. The main draw is waht you get for your money but if youre looking for an area which is quiet, friendly, has decent and improving creature comforts in terms of shops etc I think it's Penge. Good luck. O

Best thing I ever did, no matter how much I loved ED, and I did for years. Penge has a massive park, nice pub, amazing transport links, nice new eateries popping up, Penge food Centre, feels very safe, green and leafy, functional high street....i could go on. I admit i couldn't afford to stay in ED but given the option of moving knowing what I know now I just think Ed is taking the piss out of everyone moving in and paying that amount. Fair play if you have it and want what ever it is that Ed offers but you're utterly crackers IMHO.
  14. I had quite a positive experience from Water Council. They contacted Thames Water on my behalf and got them to contact me. I'd already done this myself and got fobbed off as "sorry love, that's life." I now have a "dedicated" water, erm...person....looking at the water pressure. I think if we keep on at them at least we've given it a go. It's a bloody joke at the moment. o
  15. Just to let you know my water has got worse-its stupid now. My boiler wont even recognise the amount of water flowing through it to fire it up! I?ve asked the water council to get involved and they have asked Thames Water are coming to test the pressure soon. I will keep you informed but if you want to help/get info on what can be done, if anything, please call the Water Council on: 02079318502. this is the division that deals with Thames Water. It may help if there's more than one voice putting pressure (scuse the pun) on them O
  16. Yea 1 bar of pressure and they can wash their hands of the problem. Like i said http://www.ccwater.org.uk/ are willing to look into pressure problems if more than one person is willing to say they are suffering with a lack of service from Thames Water.
  17. I posted about this topic earlier and for the second time this month my post disappeared! I have rung Thames Water and they said "tough"...i rang the water council and they said if there's a few of you they will approach Thames water on our behalf to try to get it fixed. Anyone interested...? please say yes, i cant take another cold dribble shower! Ol
  18. I need your help it's terrible. I've suffered for about a year now, peak times. It means my shower dribbles out in the morning or eve. I've spoken to Thames Water and they say its tough "demand and supply". So I've spoken to Water council - they say if there's more than one of you effected and your neighbours suffer then they will take a case on to attempt to sort it out. So anyone else had enough/suffering like me? thanks. O
  19. Same on top end of Goodrich. Rang Thames water and they said other people are having problems and they would look into it ....this was months ago. Rang back still happens. If they can't cope what am I paying for? I havent had a "proper" shower in months. GRrrrrr. O
  20. Fight club. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  21. Emailed Dulwich Hamlets the other day Re: this and no response. Looking for somewhere myself. O
  22. Also remember to neither buy or use headphones while playing dogsh!t music from your mobile phone.
  23. Yeah on Goodrich, i get anything in drabs that will fit through letter box now but still waiting for a parcel i ordered in the first week of Sept! O
  24. Why did they make the news buses with the same problem as before. I have normal length legs but mine still dangle annoyingly when i sit down! grrr
  25. Do Adventure and Black Cherry do cocktail deals - 2 4 1? or cheapy day between certain times?
