  1. I signed up to 'walk fit' with british military fitness in Dulwich Park a couple of weeks ago. It's great fun and all at your own pace: Dulwich Park Tues,Thurs and Sat's they also have sessions in other local parks (?50 pm unlimited sessions). Someone else has put the website in an earlier post. Welcome to ED L
  2. I don't for sure but I have spoken to the developer who owns the land and that is what he is hoping for. If you wish to discuss further you could send me your phone number via private message and I'll call you. L
  3. I live in the street affected and so obviously have been interested in this development since the developer bought the land about 8yrs ago.
  4. They are building 6/7 houses on this site. Planning was granted on appeal some time ago. At the moment they are negotiating access rights (the site is landlocked and they need to buy more land to access it. I expect building to start sometime next year. L
  5. Hi all, thanks for your suggestions. The powder is not staying in the draw it is getting into the machine. It's at the end of the wash when I take the clothes out of the machine that quite a bit of undissolved powder comes out with the wet clothes. It may be the water pressure: I turned my water pressure down recently because when I turn on the kitchen tap it blasts out, so I'm going to turn it back up again and see if that is the problem. Otherwise buy some gel. I haven't changed my powder and the machine is about 6yrs old and this has just started happening recently so if the above dosen't work time for a new machine! Once again thanks for your responses. L
  6. When I do a wash and take the load out lots of undisolved washing powder comes out with the clothes. I've checked that the machine is heating the water (in case it was only using cold water), I've checked the filter and the powder tray:both fine. Anyone got any ideas? May be time to get a new washing machine but thought I'd ask. Thanks L
  7. Thanks for your suggestions. I think I'll stay with carpet, it's all too much for my small brain to take in.
  8. I would like to put down some laminate flooring in a flat. The problem is that it is above a shop. The shops ceiling is commercial: thin 'squares' (I don't know what they're called) very light and not at all soundproofed. Above those 'squares' are the floorboards of the flat. I know I need to soundproof the floor (above the floorboards) before laying the laminate but don't have a clue what to use? I hope what I've said makes sense and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks L
  9. Thankyou all for responding to my plea. The issue is not because of trees, reading what has been said here and talking to people it seems that the problem is historical movement (which the surveyor did say. I think it had this problem before I bought the house - about 7yrs ago - and the previous owners did a cosmetic repair and so it has returned. I'm going to get a builder to fit the helibar. Once again thanks for your input. L
  10. I'm a bit freaked out! Major cracks have appeared inside my house and to the front. The insurance company say it isn't subsidence but historic movement. Apparently a Helibar needs to be used at the front of the property but I don't understand how this would help extensive cracking throughout the rest of the house? I should have asked the surveyor more about this when he came last november but didn't and the insurance company have closed the case, so if anyone can help me understand this problem I would really appreciate it. L
  11. I can't believe anyone would say the building was nice. More like something the Germans would build! They do offer accommodation - cheap - to relatives who have very ill relatives in Kings which is heartwarming - even if the building is not.
  12. Thankyou all for your support. I finally found a post on the internet which told me the webcam was deactivated and all i had to do was press Fn+ F10 to activate it. It worked!!! couldn't find Fn at first but it was the left hand bottom key. Why did Advent have to make it so difficult. Nothing in the welcome pack or tech guy manual about this. Crazy. L
  13. Hi Ruffers, I'm using Vista. I had a very kind guy send me a private email who explained how to get to device manager I got a list of whats on my computer and looked for 'imaging devices' or something similar. I got system devices but there was nothing in that about a webcam. i clicked properties and update driver but nothing happend. thats where I've got to. Any other suggestions very welcome but I may take up a previous suggestion and buy a ?10 thingy ma jig - usb thing.
  14. I've never used it. I can't find any reference to the webcam on my computer all i know is that it has a camera built into the lid!
  15. yes integrated and working. i would like to use the webcam my friend has a new daughter and I'd love to see her. thanks anyway
