Peckham Rye Station (being revamped?)

Network Rail (successor to British Rail) as landlord will only be responsible for the actual fabric of the building plus anything that Southern ask or pay them to do such as painting etc (I know 'cos I work for them!) -

i think the sale of the Barclays unit was a 'for sale - business not affected' transaction - basically a property investor buying the site to add to his 'portfolio' having a blue chip client like Barclays will add value enabling him / her / them to borrow against the site - the same principle as the sale of Canary Wharf skyscrapers (but on a smaller scale) -
interesting - didn't know that was possible... how do you set it up?
-
it sort of cancelled i think - epic monsoon style rainstorm and no confirmed attendees (unless loads of EDF non-posters turned up - in which case please accecpt my sincere apologies) someone else's turn to arrange next month as i failed so miserably :-$ perhaps we need a way of swapping phone numbers so that everyone knows who's going...?

James Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Looking gay in a blokey way with pints"... how > does that work? Sounds entertaining. it doesn't! last time we met at 7pm and stayed till closing - then had a cheeky one for the road in the EDT at midnight - perhaps not the best idea on a school night...

last time me and my mate just hung around until we spied two girls that we hoped were lesbians, whilst ourselves trying to look gay (in a blokey way with pints) - luckily we were correct ;-)

As a newbie who went to the drinks at the Gowlett last night - thank you to everyone for being so friendly and welcoming (and dare I say it - but also normal!) Somerfield and Kwik Save are now separate companies - Somerfield took all the best Kwik Save sites last year then demerged the poorer sites Somerfield are now private equity owned by a consortium including Barclays http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4549100.stm

we ordered a couple of pizzas at EDT the other week and one of them was late - though not so late that you'd worry / complain about it - the staff were so apologetic that they brought two fresh pizzas and a free bottle of wine - great service!

James Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I read something about them getting rid of the > "Market Fresh" thing nationwide, just to simplify > things. I read the same thing, they are ditching all sub-brands and reverting to just Somerfield - shame I always felt that if you squinted you could have believed that you weren't shopping in a Somerfield - sort of...

I agree too - we had possibly the worst pub meal ever there on Sunday The goats cheese salad arrived on a bed of mashed potato (?); the fish was a curled up bit of skin and bones in soggy batter, with chips that were so oil soaked that they were bendy; the pie (which was ok) was served on a white plate with shredded white (grey) cabbage and potatoes that looked like dried walnuts - very aesthetically pleasing! We (politely) complained and were offered a free desert but no refund or free drinks - we declined The fitout is also a bit 'posh Wetherspoons' We won't be going back...

I can't think what you mean....?:-$ Maybe we should check out the Rye on James' recommendation? Perhaps they do girls there too?

What about the gay boys (and 30 somethings)? Saturday on Northcross / LL always seems to have plenty walking about, but where do they go after dark?? I heard that Black Cherry was meant to be gay friendly, but it always seems quite (straight) couply when I go in - anyone got any suggestions that don't involve getting on a bus to Soho, Vauxhall etc? :-S

Plus I like his 80s jumpers. Anyone agree? i agree - also the Green & Blue guy (Polish?) gets my vote :-$

Anyone know why they stopped? the new Green & Blue bar does amazing carrot cake and great coffee (in big white mugs!) and if your sunday morning paper reading drags on you can ease yourself seamlessly from coffee to wine
