A few suggestions that might help perk up the business: extend the brilliant weekend brunch menu beyond the ridiculously early finish of 1pm (some people like to lie in and ease themselves into the weekend) sell croissants / pain au chocolat with brunch menu - compete with Nero, the coffee's much better at Black Cherry anyway liven up the tired lunch / evening menus that don't seem to have changed in ages and don't have any light snacky items on them extend the evening food service for another hour or so sell crisps fix the wifi, which is often not working ditch the poorly made day-glo cocktails and train the staff to make the original cocktails properly (bring back Jamie - the only one who could make them properly please....!) improve the service - most of the waitresses are really friendly, but can be a bit scatty - they don't write orders down, forget side dishes, drinks, bills etc..... -

www.bookcrossing.com is quite cool, you log your book online and get a unique reference that you write in the book, then abandon it in a cafe, on a bench, on the bus etc and when someone finds it they can leave notes on your page via the reference!

Even more annoying aircraft noise?!
mikese22 replied to Rosyprimrose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I quite like waking up to the sound of the planes - makes me think of holidays! that said - I wouldn't want to live in Kew where they're really noisy -
If the mortgage company were happy to loan the money with no restrictions then yes - make sure that you can get insurance or that the freeholder has insurance though as a lot of insurance firms are really picky

i refer you to my post of February 20, 09:59PM when i agreed that the parcel drop off service was the only thing they did that I personally found useful you could of course apply the same lateral thinking and provide this service from other outlets......? I work for Network Rail and know for a fact that they will respond to complaints about litter very quickly The reason that litter builds up is that regular maintenance can only ever be planned on a rotation basis - as the network is so huge it would be impossible to keep everywhere litter free all the time As they have no employees on the ground at East Dulwich, for reactive tidying in between planned dates, they rely on passengers (or Southern employees) to report the problem The national helpline number is 08457 11 41 41 - 7 days a week / 365 days a year Nero Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A while back I posted that I was going to contact > the rail company to complain about the litter that > gathers behind the fence. Perhaps someone needs to look at this laterally - as virtually everything the Post office ever did is now available elsewhere (and usually more conveniently); couldn't the government re-allocate some of the massive subsidy paid to the Post Office to encourage other places to cash Giros? I'm sure if it was properly licensed with all the appropriate security then they could be cashed in corner shops, pubs, supermarkets etc? Fined ?75 for dropping a cigar butt - fair?

(excuse the pun) - there are loads of bins and failing that you can always take the butt home with you... if we all took that line then people would be p***ing in the streets and justifying by saying that Southwark haven't provided enough toilets; or spitting because the council haven't provided spittoons! we all need to grow up and take responsibility for our actions / habits -

Nice idea - would only work if the dogs 'performed' in view of a policeman.... unless.... what about a national DNA database for dogs - the police could then easily track the culprits down!

You could, maybe, > just, make acse for stte support in an isoltaed > community. I agree - if the post office is the only shop in a rural village then fair enough, but round the corner from another branch in suburban London?? I always struggle with the point of the post office anyway (parcels excepted); most things they used to have a monopoly on can be done easier elsewhere (post, phone, online, at the bank, newsagents etc....) and the things they now promote are just services that loads of other companies do (travel insurance, currency exchange, broadband, credit cards etc) I know you could argue that if the government(s) hadn't taken their monopolies away then it would be different, but you could also argue that if the government hadn't allowed the gas and electricity industries to expand then the coal industry would be in better shape; or if BT hadn't been privatised then the post office could still make a nice profit from forcing us to wait 6 months for a brown telephone and a shared 'party' line - things move on and the only unique selling point for the post office now is somewhere to take parcels imho

alieh Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Maybe some more signage on > Lordship Lane to remind me to pop in when I am up > that way on a Saturday? The redundant electrical wholesalers signage is still up on the side wall and visible from the roundabout / EDT - perhaps the landlord would let them replace it with EDWarehouse signage (no doubt for a fee)? As it's already there, planning consent would not be an issue
