  1. Quite! Apologies if this has already been covered earlier in the thread, but I understand that it is to be an organic deli and farm sharp, similar to the one they have just opened in Kennington - see link below http://www.franklinsrestaurant.com/kennington/
  2. Maya55 - I may have missed an earlier post, but I cannot see why supporting an independent bakery is somehow a threat to the true 'purpose' of Grove Lane - there are never less that 3-4 empty shops in this area and no business has been forced out by Blackbird opening if there was sufficent demand for 'nice Jamaican patties/jerk chicken, second hand furniture and working man's cafes' then there would be no vacant shops on this strip... I also agree with Asset and Sean that ?1.50 does not seem excessive for a baguette - any newspaper will testify to the fact that basic foodstuffs are experiencing massive inflation around the world and a basic branded white sliced loaf will probably cost you about ?1.50 in most supermarkets these days - and these guys (the branded bakers and supermarkets) have massive buying power to bring you lower prices

I had a lovely lunch there today - a salad with some kind of grilled cheese on it - was delicious! My mate had a huge pizza with three big pieces of parma ham and really fresh tomatoes - also good Service was friendly and attentive
  7. Actually it can be called 'a bakers' - Collins English Dictionary: baker n a person who makes or sells bread, cakes, etc bakery n, pl -eries a place where bread, cakes etc are made or sold Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > About time Grove Vale started benefitting from the > ED "gentrification" process, equally, it cant be > called a bakers if it doesnt bake it on the > premesis. 8. no - we ate about 9.30pm - must have missed the fire alarm
  9. No this isn't a post about the tables outside th Bishop.... Has anyone else noticed the really noisy birds this morning - going on since dawn - crows I think...?
  10. Yep - Halifax insurance - very reasonable and no issue with the risk of subsidence - two thumbs up!(tu)(tu)
  11. I ate there last night (half price food!) and it was excellent - menu was great, food was great and service was impeccable I'd definitely go back!

  13. if i have a lot of cardboard (after a furniture delivery say) they often don't take it - but if you complain to Southwark they do respond and get it sorted i can't see what the problem is - surely of your job is to pick up rubbish or recyclables and through them into a truck, why would object to certain things??
  14. try the Southwark noise team - not sure they deal with dogs but very efficient with car alarms
  15. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,100007,100197#msg-100197 not sure if i linked this properly - but this is the answer i gave to the same thread a few months back
  16. as a non Bellenden resident either visiting friends or short-cutting to Peckham I am always a bit disappointed - I like the AG bollards, am amused by the lights, love the mosaics but never feel there is much reason to hang about - the bookshop (I forget it's name) being the exception. It really needs a cool bar or cafe / bar and (dare I say it) a Caffe Nero style coffee and sofas hangout....
  17. station looks in the right place to me??
  18. I went past today and noticed that they've taken down the signage with 01 on it to reveal even older signage with the telephone exchange expressed as letters - TOW xxxx - presumably dating back to the 60s? Anyone know if TOW stood for anything or was it just random - there are still hotels in Bloomsbury that display signs with MUS (for MUSeum)at the start or their phone numbers?
  19. Have you tried calling lost property? Southeastern's lost property office is at Cannon St and Southern's is in left luggage at Victoria Sometimes it takes a day or two for items to reach them from the depots where the trains are cleaned good luck!
  20. Could be a homage to the 80s sketch show with Tracy Ulman, Lenny Henry and David Copperfield (???).... You know you're getting old when... ... you can remember when Lenny Henry was funny>:D<
  21. Dear Mr Adminstrator - should the title of this thread be changed to 'Vietnamese restaurant NOT opening in April'? Whenever I see the thread on the front page I get excited, then realise that it refers to April 07 and isn't ging to happen

  23. Maybe a Foxtons mini was in their usual space....? ;-)
