The Cheese Block (lordship L) does exegetical (and exelent) chickpea potatoes and herb samosas which I believe are home made on a daily basis and sold out before two pm...I'm a fan and not the only one. Also if you like aubergines and eat eggs there's an iranian recipe called Mirza Ghazemi which I enjoy it is filling easy to make and rather morish with toasted pitta or some such (You tube).....otherwise ratatouille is obviouslying fantastic and every engredient can be purchased from one market stall in Peckham (plus thyme)....One big pot of loveliness to eat with boiled basmati....magic.

It's interesting that 'I love the cunning crows' does not constitute an emotive statement when ported buy you Kirsten. -

Hi nxjen, I have seen jays attack and raid a nest in my own garden with all the commotion it entailed....I suppose that' life. And you are right jays are few and far between and therefore not so destructive....crow and magpies on the other hand are in my opinion growing out of control and untlike most cats they can raid nests on the tallest thinnest branches. Cats have managed to make some people believe that they belong to them and consequently behave with total impunity.....don't mind the mousers though. -
Count me in. Let me know when. See you soon?

Thank you for your reply, I am glad your intuition seems to go along with my assement. I will contact the RSPB and find out how they think the best way to proceed is, and will inform them of your interest. What I do know for sure is that crows, magpies and jays are classed as vermin. In Paris, for comparison they bait an area where all the, pigeons in this case, then congregate; a large net is then fired above the gathering and thighten closed from under. They are then taken away and dispatched. This could work well for crows which are much more gregarious than magpies and jays. For the latter maybe other solutions are more effective. Would you consider formally raising this issue with the other councillors during one of your meetings and perhaps persuade them that it not just a wildlife issue but also a serious noise pollution in the making should there numbers grow at the rate it has been of late? In advance, thanking you for your goodwill, Regards, B. -
Maybe you should face up the fact that 'your' cat thinks less of you than you do of him. Get another one or get over it.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Bessie1974 replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James, I wanted to touch upon the subject of wildlife. In the last four years the population of crow magpies and jaies has grown exponentially and I fear that soon the skies will will be like those of Karachi where other birds have simply disappeard, and the noise of croaking is constantly within earshot.... As you surely know these are cunning And predatorial birds and I hope you and the other counsellors understand the variety of the bird life we still enjoy is now under threat. I live not far from Peckham Rye Park and and when four years ago crows were just another specie of birds they are now hundreds of them, this mean that in another three or four years the battle will lost. It would be sad thing to happen and I am convinced a ruthless culling program should be initiated. Would you kindly let us know what your thoughts are regarding this subject? Your concern is much appreciated, Many thanks. B. -

Thank you James, I appreciate you helping push this initiative and will look forward to bid and fill whatever form is necessary. you are welcome to PM me. In the meanwhile I shall look at CGS. And perhaps take it up with the Peckham ward regarding table in the Rye. As for Goose Green let's get the ball rolling so to speak. Thanks again. -
So am I (looking to play), I have racket(s)and balls and would gladly play perhaps in Dulwich park weekdays weather permitting. I used to play when I was younger and have played episodically; the last time was last year around this time with a girl who turned up in her Carlos Ferrero t-shirt and spend a few sessions amusing herself at thrashing me...good fun though. I am in my early forties and would find it a good way to get a bit fitter. Let me know if you are interested.

Hi James, I left you a post a few months ago regarding the possibilty of having permanent ping pong tables erected in Peckham Rye, or/and Gouse Green. I hope you remember. Would you kindly let us know if it has been approved, and if so when can we expect to enjoy them. Thank you for your enthusiasm and help getting this thing completed. PS: anyone interested in outdoor ping pong tables let yourselves be counted by voicing your support. -
Who would happily be defined by their choice of paper?
Bessie1974 replied to Otta's topic in The Lounge
If the roads to hell are paved with good intentions, then the Guardian would be the ideal sat-nav to get you there. Also these is something deeply disingenuous about harping against elitism but putting your own kids in private schools for example ( Poly Toinbee et al hope your Tuscan wine is to your taste). -

Maybe a bow and arrow is the solution. -
Even though I have heard mainly very good things about the temperament friendliness and intelligence of domesticated rats, You should be aware of the fact that they urinate little, but VERY often.
