Just thought I'd message to say just how fabulous the Half Moon Montessori (02073265300 ) has been for my little girl, Frankie. We get the number 37 from ED, or we cycle. They: 1: Are amazing teachers- Helen, Nina, Mercedes and Perpetua and Ash are so smiley, professional and hard working. 2: Have a lovely outdoor space, including a grow your own garden, sand and water. 3: Take childcare vouchers. Frankie has been there for 2 years, and the teachers have been so fabulous- they know who she is, how to get her on side, they wait outside every morning from 8.30- 9am until everyone has arrived, and are lovely to chat to. Please go and have a look around! They also do after school sessions.

St. John's and st Clements catchment for church places
arrozdoce replied to emilou's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When we got our church place for 2012, St. John's had to be our closest c of e school, so that put a limit on where/how far away we could be. For a St. John's church reference, we also had to live within their parish boundary (although I don't know if other churches have such a proviso). This may have changed since then, though, best to check with school. -
We like Laurie berkner (see victor Vito/we are the dinosaurs on YouTube for an idea), and don spencer (Australian kids songs, very infectious)...Not nursery rhymes though.

sleep when baby sleeps ?
arrozdoce replied to duchessofdulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I let my nearly three yr old have her rest time on sofa watching cbeebies while baby slept in the afternoon... I snuggled up on sofa too, and would have a lovely hours(or longer) doze...in fact, I still do this, two years on! -
Holiday tips for Pollenca, Majorca
arrozdoce replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went in June with our two girls, they enjoyed all the nearby beaches: the pine walk beach area of port de pollenca, the beaches on the formentor peninsula, cala st vicente. We also visited lluc monastery which was lovely, with a beautiful walk through the botanical gardens. Enjoy. Cannot wait to go back! -

Europe off the beaten track- holiday ideas?

Is it Scotland? Iceland? Please tell us!? -
I had blood tests,, basic internal examination by gp (where she saw the cervix inflamed) an ultrasound of ovaries/uterus, a colposcopy (camera into vagina to inspect cervix if I remember correctly), and my gp also put me on a set of antibiotics in case of pelvic inflammatory disease or similar infection. Don't know if you've got a decent gp, but mine at DMC Chadwick was extremely switched on, proactive and sympathetic. Happy to pm her name if you need.

I have had this since my last daughter was born nearly two yrs ago...went to doctor/hospital for tests and scans and smears, as there were many things it could have been- ovulation bleeding, hormonal imbalance, poly cystic ovaries, all pretty 'normal' ...they found my problem was mild pcos and cervical erosion (normal and innocuous during and after pregnancy). If its always mid-cycle it sounds like nothing to worry about as implies it's just linked to your natural rhythms, but it's so reassuring just to get a smear and talk to your doctor anyway Take care x

Anyone else have kids with this cough/vomiting bug?
arrozdoce replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
yes, i'm glad i came across this thread, as my two have had these odd symptoms since last weekend too--- no vomiting but temperature, lack of appetite, cough, and so very tired- my 4 yr old, although her temperature went after day 3, has been sleeping 6.30pm til 8am nxt morning, then an hours nap in the day- for subsequent 4 days- v strange. -
Hi, my 13 month old does all of these things, and is particularly interested in my/anyone else's eyes, nostrils and mouth and is always trying to poke her fingers in all of the above...if I remember correctly her older sister did this too- I've always just seen it as a natural learning thing babies and children do, and although painful at times I never give it a second thought. She also scratches and nips when she's feeding, tired, or sometimes frustrated. When she was younger she used to scratch her face at night, and does it now as she's going to sleep - I just make sure her nails are cut short. I wouldn't worry, and I agree in letting her feed her curiosity with the toys.

Travelling to Majorca with 7mth and 3yr old
arrozdoce replied to Fidgetsmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
we've just come back from Pollenca, too, with our 7 mnth old and 3 yr old, and went to soller a couple of yrs ago ...am very jealous, would go back to majorca in an instant-- im sure you'll have a great time, they seem very geared to tourists, but not in a bad way. Would agree about tiny streets for pushing buggies down...we took a maclaren and a ergo carrier...and just switched my 3 yr old into the buggy if she was wilting a bit or needed a nap. I don't know if you formula feed, but formula there was sooo expensive there for some reason...should have taken a box in our luggage. i don't really have much more useful advice, but have agreat time...im sure we'll be back there next year if all goes well. -
Hey I used to have a similar problem, usually after hubbie had used the ergo and loosened all the straps...you've probably done this, but perhaps try sliding the back straps up higher (the ones with the clasp), or tighten the underarm straps as far as possible. Know what you mean about showers, and also when they fall asleep on you when you haven't gotten dressed yet and screamy toddler needs a trip to the park... Happy to help in person if you don't know any other ergo-users! All best x

hi, we'll be applying for my daughters place soon, too, and are considering Lyndhurst for our list... when we moved to our current flat(near Warwick Gardens) we had lyndhurst in mind, but the catchment area seems to be getting smaller and smaller, unfortunately for us...you would probably be close enough i expect though- its meant to be a lovely, smallish school, with a great ofsted. I also went to visit Brunswick as considering it for my daughters nursery place... it gets an 'outstanding' ofsted, and i know a couple of very lovely families sending their daughters there next year(quite a vague endorsement, sorry... but a strong one for me!). I found it friendly but quite daunting-- v big, and huge high walls around it! hope this helps x
