  1. I've had no post for 5 days now! Cards, parcels and a cheque from work all missing. The customer service person I spoke to said there is still a high level of absence amongst workers and postal rounds are still not being completed at the end of each day!
  2. Brockwell Park (tickets in advance) or Blackheath (free).
  3. I have a child in Year 9 at Elmgreen, we love it too.
  4. I've definitely seen a small burgundy shoe on top of a wall today, just trying to remember whereabouts. Fenwick or Anstey Road perhaps, I was walking down to Peckham, so one of those. Sorry I can't be more specific.
  5. Sorry to hear that Leo is still missing, I know how worrying and upsetting it is when they don't come home. Good luck with finding him. Yes, I'll try and capture the tabby if he returns to ours. He's been dropping by quite often, but I haven't seen him for a week or so. I was concerned with how thin he was, and figured he was likely to be a stray. I've been feeding him a little, but we do have a cat so I didn't want to encourage him too much, but luckily he's not aggressive towards her. I emailed Celia Hammond about him, but after initially saying that they could help, they went silent on me, perhaps just snowed under.
  6. Catherine, I think the cat in your photo could be the same one that has been visiting us on and off all summer. We live at the bottom of Crystal Palace Road, so possibly not the missing Leo I've attached a photo, his drooping left ear is quite distinctive.
  7. Hopefully a virus, and you'll be feeling better very soon. Labyrinthitis does also sound like a possibility, I think it tends to come on suddenly or you wake up with it out of the blue (mum and friend suffer from it, so just basing my comments on how they present). Menieres is usually severe vertigo plus tinnitus in one or both ears, so if you have anything along those lines then another possibility.
  8. Tis true, I was sceptical about those four together, but it was the most delicious flavour ever. Had a long conversation with the owner about where he sources his dust free hay from! He did say he probably wouldn't create that particular flavour too often as very labour intensive. His pistachio is wonderful, also the salted peanut and tangerine dream are amazing. Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If that's true I'm not sure whether to blame > Heston Blumenthal or Harry Potter.
  9. Toasted hay, custard, goats curd and pine needle! Stunning combination from Fabulous Ice Fires on East Dulwich Road. Just love this place, owner will try and make your favourite flavour and let you know when it is back in stock.
  10. Try visiting the Ofsted website, enter your postcode and you'll see a list of primary schools in your area, starting with the closest. The reports will only give you a snapshot view of the school, but they might help you decide which ones you may like to visit and consider applying for. 'Catchments' vary each year, but it's usually wise to choose within 1-2 kilometres of your address to have a realistic chance of getting a place.
  11. Done, best of luck. I would travel out of the area a little, as I already use Naked Larder in Herne Hill. Not sure why they are 'coy' about their address, but they are just up the hill, close to Herne Hill school if I remember correctly.
  12. Wondered if anyone on here could recommend a clinic that can do peri menopause blood tests alongside the usual health checks. Thanks in advance.
  13. I think you'll find that the local paddling pools won't be up and running until the later May Bank Holiday, this seems to have been the trend in previous years. The water fountains at More London are fun, but not a paddling pool, wracking my brains to think of one ...
  14. Use the Ofsted website, put in your postcode and select the type of provision, nursery, primary etc. You will then see a list, starting with the closest first.
  15. Imperial China on Lisle Street for Dim Sum.
  16. Google 'The Spin Doctor' Lots of recommendations on here.
  17. Yep, delays and cancellations all morning on Southern. Yesterday it took me an hour to get from Goose Green to Kennington on the bus. In complete agreement DulwichLondoner.
  18. Frankenstein Freak Fear Fox Frosty
  19. Captured on the Rye get lots of recommendations on here, they do screen printing parties for kids. I imagine a group of 12 year olds would enjoy designing and printing their own T shirt? Not so local, but quick and easy from Peckham Rye overground, All Star Lanes in Shoreditch is a great bowling venue.
  20. Thanks for this!
  21. Unfortunately during the years of austerity, Lambeth Council has turned to Brockwell Park as a source of revenue. I share the OP's concerns, such a lovely green space should be for all to enjoy, and I'm very much opposed to chunks of it being out of bounds for festivals etc. Never got to grips with who is held to account over the damage and vandalism that sometimes occurs. The memorial benches that were removed by Sunfall have not yet been replaced, must be really upsetting for the relatives concerned. Have noticed how Lambeth's parks have really gone downhill over recent years. I walk through Ruskin and Kennington Parks on my way to work every week, and visit Brockwell at least once a month. Virtually no planting in the flower beds, rubbish overflowing in the bins for days before removal. Very low down the priority list these days. Southwark in comparison, are doing a much better job at looking after their green spaces.
  22. St Jude's or Jessop? Or Possibly too far?
  23. A neighbour in my block was also burgled last night. Similar circumstances, accessed the flat via the first floor balcony. Totally agree Pollypops, we can't assume that being higher up affords any protection. We also live in a so called gated community, which tends to gives a false sense of security.
  24. We went in October half-term two years ago, it was very very crowded, more so than a summer holiday day. The queues to exit the site at the end of the day were horrendous. But it is a great day out, so take a deep breath and go for it! Get there super early, as soon as the gates open, then make your way over to the rides that you think your daughter will prefer, hopefully before the queues really build up. You can look online, check out the maps and make a plan. Of course there is the priority q bot system, which I've never used, but after the last visit, where we queued for an hour plus for everything, I reckon it's probably worth it. You'll get very wet on some of the rides, so take waterproofs, and definitely a packed lunch.
