  1. Couldn't agree more. I've wanted to shop in both SMBS and Organic Village recently, but each time I've tried, they've been too busy and I've walked away. Larger shops are still problematic too, we all dutifully queue 2 metres apart outside, but once inside, everyone seems to mill around and not be aware of keeping their distance. It's also not really a time for browsing, just make a list, grab what you need and leave. Although I do appreciate many people are probably shopping for friends/relatives too, so it can be quite a task finding everything.
  2. So sorry Tasha, a tragedy that your mum can't be saved. So many, gone too soon.
  3. I fear that young people are still not doing their bit ... Three young lads sat on the Rye yesterday sharing a joint, six older looking teenagers hanging around the basketball courts at the bottom of Alleyn's playing fields today. Doubt they're all from the same household. I imagine parents telling them to stay home, and they just sneak out anyway when backs are turned.
  4. Popped in on Wednesday afternoon, noticed that the loo roll shelves were almost empty, plus paracetamol and vitamin c supplements completely sold out. Didn't bother looking at the hand sanitiser situation!
  5. I'm a bit confused! Totally on board with the hand washing etc, but at the same time we're told that transmission via surfaces is still quite unlikely, and we're most likely to pass it on/catch it from close contacts, ie family and friends ... Anyway, I think the worried well should try not to panic and hoard, but be really mindful of protecting the most vulnerable wherever possible. My dad has severe COPD, he'll definitely succumb if he becomes infected. It'll be an enormous tragedy if we have huge fatalities world wide, and all healthcare systems will be severely affected for many months to come.

  7. I may have encountered him this afternoon as I walked home along East Dulwich Road. As I crossed a junction he marched straight towards me, in a very aggressive manner and way too close for comfort. I dodged out of his way and he motioned to come after me, but stopped and shouted obscenities instead. I'd say 30ish, light brown skin, black hair, longish black coat and a blue wool hat. He headed off towards the roundabout. Looks unkempt and unwell, but it was a bit of a scary encounter. I'll report it online, as 101 number didn't pick up.
  8. Good question from the OP, now that Southwark Council charge for brown bins and don't automatically collect garden waste. I'll try and find out.
  9. Trees for sale outside the EDT, are not a pop up. The florist opposite are the traders. However, I would love to know what the wholesale price of Christmas trees are, as the variation in price is huge. I bought a 5-6ft tree from a local business for ?30, but I've seen trees of the same height and quality going for ?25 outside the Barry Road shop, and for ?50 in Brixton market!
  10. Look up your local parish church and pop in to ask. When my friends moved to North Dulwich, St Faith's Church were so welcoming and agreed to their son's christening without any problem.
  11. Brockwell Park Community Greenhouse are running wreath making workshops this coming weekend. I think all details will be on their website.
  12. 'Gardenman' on this forum is selling pot grown trees.
  13. My goodness, so very sorry that you've experienced such a terrifying ordeal, I wish you well with your recovery. Heartened to hear that kind people came to your aid, and I really hope there were witnesses who can come forward to assist you and the police.
  14. 1. Gowlett 2. Pizza pick up 3. Agile Rabbit (Herne Hill) 4. 500 Degrees
  15. Such a shame, lovely staff and delicious, good quality food. They do a roaring breakfast/brunch trade, but much quieter in the afternoons/eve. I feel that it might be a struggle to make such a huge premises work. That said, I don't know the reason why they're closing.
  16. Mmmmm 'a double retracting leash' I think the OP is trying to have some fun on here.
  17. I suspect 7 means, English/Maths/Science, plus 4 other subject choices. As others have pointed out, the core subjects will be sub divided, so students often end up with at least 9 GCSEs.
  18. I had three running amok in my garden the other night, I'm just off East Dulwich Road. Loads of rubbish strewn on Adys Road this morning, I think they're alive and well.
  19. I've been trying to see the female GP there for a while, but with no luck. On the day, arrive just before 8pm and wait for the doors to open, you should get an appointment later that morning. I was told that walk ins get priority over calls, but that seems unfair if a patient is ill at home and can't make it to the surgery that early. Call just before 12, for the afternoon/eve appointments, but I've tried this and never get through. I've logged onto the patient access app, some appointments there for early June, but none with the female Dr. Once you see a nurse/Dr, I've always found the care to be excellent, it's just getting that initial appointment.I'm probably going to move to the Gardens.
  20. Otto2, sorry to hear about your son, but delighted that at least his bike has been found. I kind of agree that it's best to not take these robberies personally, but I've struggled to get this message through to my 14 year old who was mugged last December near East Dulwich station. It has really shaken his confidence and months later, he still won't travel home alone from places where he previously felt safe.
  21. In our area, I would tentatively suggest Charter North or The Elmgreen School, but a good starting point is to check the SEND information/offer on the school website. If nothing helpful to be found, then there's a bit of a clue there. In my experience, schools with a lot of experience of supporting children with a range of needs, usually have a comprehensive section on how they go about this. If your child has just had an ADHD diagnosis, I would hope that his/her current school would be keen to get them the right support and work closely with you whist they do this, sorry if this isn't happening, sounds tough.
  22. So worrying to hear about these attacks. My 13 year old was robbed by two older boys near East Dulwich station back in December at 5pm, with quite a few people around. This Friday just gone, he was followed after leaving Dulwich Leisure Centre at around 6pm by an older teen on his bike, who got a bit nasty and threatening, luckily son decided to run across the road sharpish towards home, and got away. I don't think pupils from any particular school are being targeted, just anyone walking alone who might seem like easy prey for a quick robbery. My previously confident son who has travelled quite happily to and from school, and elsewhere for the last 2-3 years is really nervous now. Such a shame for him. We reported the first incident online, and did receive a police visit.
  23. So sorry to hear this, you must have been distraught to have discovered her suffering. I'm trying to think what I would do in this kind of situation, probably google 24 hour vets, call for advice and then I guess jump in an Uber with the animal. Good to know about the Camberwell vet, as that isn't too far to dash to. I can only imagine that the couple who picked her up thought she had already died, but who knows.
  24. My Christmas post was taking about 7-10 days to turn up, had five day in a row with no deliveries at all. Emailed Craig P Wallace but no response. Did get a very apologetic response from the CEO however, I had also attached a photo of the massive queue at Highshore Road just before Christmas. Also reported the problems on the Customer Service number. Important to keep on raising the issue if the service doesn't improve.
