  1. Hi, I'm no vegetarian but I don't eat a huge amount of meat...there are plenty of recipes on the internet(for free)but you can always try making nutritious veg soups, curries, pasta sauce, chillis...alot of the recipes you prob did before can be used if you just replace the meat part with something like mushroom, aubergine,courgette,quorn...it doesn't have to be too complicated...good luck! Cheers Bruce
  2. you can actually reuse daily lenses, you just need to take care of them and use a decent storage/cleaning fluid, and before anyone jumps down my throat, i get my eyes regularly checked and have been reusing dailies for at least 20 years with no problems...I just use them until they split (which can be many months).
  3. Keano, if you're clutching your pearls at my use of the word 'Bullshit' you might need to go and lie down for a bit.
  4. Exactly the same could be said for those on the right of the spectrum too, and your theory that violence on the left is more common is sheer bullshit I'm afraid.
  5. Humdinger, you're right,I've looked at the area it takes up and it is tiny, I have no idea what the OP is on about, there is still plenty of room for everybody...
  6. does anyone have an idea how I can get a large rug cleaned? not quite sure if it's cotton or wool, it's quite tightly woven...it would just be a pity to bin it...
  7. so sorry to hear that, I lost my big black kitty Cosmo a few years ago...have you checked with the RSPCA/Local vets/Celia Hammond/cat's protection. I would still ask around your neighbourhood, neighbours/postie/binmen, and keep putting up posters, it's very possible that she is still in the area...don't give up hope yet, Cats do very often come back, my friends cat came back after 3 years!
  8. Hi Annie, you're prob better off putting this message in Lost&Found...have you tried asking neighbours/postie/binmen, putting up posters, trying local vets, is he chipped?
  9. Kryptonite D locks are widely considered to be the best (one on each wheel), although pretty much nothing can stand up to an angle grinder...
  10. so happy for you, good one, Nora!
  11. very cute little thing, I live in Grove park but my road goes down to Bellenden and our garden backs onto Choumert, will keep an eye out...have you thought of putting up posters, talking to neighbours/postie/binmen? If she has a litter tray, try emptying it out the back or front, give her something to aim for...
  12. I cycle up Camberwell Grove after work and the stench of woodsmoke is very strong, and if there is no breeze it just hangs in the road and catches the back of your throat. I think woodburners are polluting and I would encourage people not to use them unless absolutely necessary. I don't drive a car and if I did it certainly wouldn't be a diesel.
  13. brilliant news, so happy he's ok, you must be over the moon, early xmas present!
  14. One thing I thought I should mention, it's definitely worth talking to the bin men/postie, as they often make friends with cats and notice them, and the bin men often find dead cats (one of mine was identified by them, so at least we had closure).I lost my beautiful black cat Cosmo, a couple of years ago, he just disappeared...so I feel your pain, but don't give up yet, it's just been a couple of months, have you tried the council? Cats protection? Local vets? I'm afraid the RSPCA are fricking useless...
  15. very cute little thing...it might have a chip, have you tried the vets?
  16. So Abe, I assume you are a typical London cyclist too, a menace to society?
  17. he may be lost or just friendly, is he thin/small or does he look well fed?
  18. Hi David, thank you to you and Turtle for looking after this poor kitty, it's good to see there are people who care...I would take her myself but I'm not sure my two would be too happy!
  19. Hi there, he/she looks very sweet...maybe you could take him/her to the vet to see if he's chipped,I assume you've tried the neighbours, failing that you could give Celia Hammond a call 020 8691 2100
  20. I live a few streets over and he looks like my boy, so I'd easily recognise him, will keep my eyes peeled...
  21. I'm sorry to hear that, but it's also completely outrageous, you can't just take someone's cat if you feel like it, and the idea that there is a 'collection of cats'somewhere is disturbing, especially considering that my cat could be part of this collection...I would definitely get in touch with the police and possibly the useless RSPCA, it sounds like there is something very fishy going on...
  22. I live in Grove Park, just above you, so I will keep an eye out...he may be in the park or you could try the wood next to Sainsbury's, but in all likelihood he will be back in a day or two. If he doesn't, it is worth trying SNARL, Celia Hammond and Cat's Protection but the RSPCA are f*cking useless...I speak from bitter experience, I lost my black cat a couple of years ago, but don't give up hope yet!
  23. Vision Direct, good and quick

    BBC Pay

I have to agree with Rendelharris, what do you expect these people to earn? How much do you think Sky or ITV or any other company pays for their 'Stars'? What is more worrying is the disparity and the fact that women in general seem to be paid a lot less...and yet this must also happen at these other companies too, not just the BBC. TBH I am a little sick of the pearl-clutching of some of the right wing rags like the mail, whose main aim in life is to bag the 'straw man' BBC and everything it does on a 'daily' basis...and if you're going to talk about wasting tax payer's money, what about the ?6.2 billion we wasted on the 2 white elephant aircraft carriers that we don't need along with the potential hundreds of millions of pounds of hidden costs on top of that?
