  1. I've stayed at these spas more than once. Lovely settings and service.http://www.alexanderhotels.co.uk/langshott-manor-luxury-hotel-surrey/
  2. Edward Alleyn Clubhouse has a bar! Held a party here also, very reasonable.

  4. I second what verds has said. There are a grid of roads near the Norwood Lakes called the Norhyrst estate that are very nice, well proportioned and good value for your buck. Looking at a map, anywhere from Warminster and Lancaster going back towards Auckland and Hamlet is the area you want to focus on. Almost all of the roads off of here have good stock. The lakes is a lovely park not to mention Crystal Palace park which is also very nearby. Good transport links too. My brother bought a house on Court Rd 3yrs ago and has been able to refurbish and make the place look amazing. His daughter would have gone to Cypress Hill school which is good but was a bit too far for the rest of the family to help with school runs. For a nicer high street experience, head to Crystal Palace or Beckenham.
  5. Hi, Agree with Strawbs, grab one second hand or through Amazon online along with the necessary sticks. It does well to find your fertile window and interesting to get to know your 'true' cycle. I used the monitor briefly, now pregnant with my first. The monitor can be expensive but always worth it if it works. The ClearBlue website has lots of info along with instruction leaflets to download and frequently asked questions. Good luck!
  6. Culture I believe is a factor to consider. The size of a Christening could easily amount to a high spend and in some cultures, a christening is as big and important as a wedding where many friends and relatives are invited. Outside catering for 80+ people, plus drinks, venue hire and decoration, nice outfits for church, etc easily add up. I plan to hold a christening next year with approx 40 guests. Once caterers are arranged to provide the buffet, the price will soar.
  7. I have been seeing Hilary throughout my pregnancy for body nourishing, relaxation, energy and helping me sleep. I'm due in 9 weeks and will make Hilary my first port of call if no sign of baby around my due date. Based in Dulwich. http://www.acupuncturehil.co.uk/
  8. Has anyone tried temping? Taking your temperature each morning allows you to pin-point ovulation. I used this method along with ovulation predictor sticks and got pregnant within 2 months. www.fertilityfriend.com helped me track my temperature so that I could learn my body's pattern. This is only a solution if 'catching the egg' is the problem but certainly a good way to know your body's rhythm. Good luck to all. x
  9. I think it's difficult to form much of an opinion without further information and facts around this story. Interesting indeed. She certainly doesn't look under-nourished, nothing has been mentioned of physical abuse and she hasn't been reported missing. The questions remain around who she is, where she came from and why no one seems to be looking for her...
  10. Yes ditto on the above. Some workplaces do it but defintely try a high street Boots/Superdrug. In the past I've had it at both. I am also pregnant and was advised to get the flu jab done in the month of October. Thanks for the reminder!
  11. Hi Kayla, I am due late December and due to start a course this Sunday so can't offer any feedback yet. I'm sure someone will be along soon but you may also find searching 'hypnobirthing' to look at some of the past threads on this subject. I was able to find a well reviewed course with London Hypnobirthing run at Guys. It suited my schedule having weekend courses and the price was v reasonable. Had it not been for the schedule I would certainly have booked with Hollie who is well regarded on here.
  12. Yes, fair enough. Hopefully there'll be a future meet after the 6th Oct. Hope everyone is well.
  13. Hi, I'm still OK for Saturday 28th. 6th Oct I start my hypnobirthing course. A further meet up maybe late Nov would be good once people have started their prenatal and other classes to share tips, pointers and concerns. @CocoC - have you managed to keep a tally of who can do which dates in case you definitely can't do 28th? It will be cutting it fine timewise to prepare for dinner.
  14. @Tara I got up early Sunday and went to the Peekaboo sale event. A huge turnout - car park was full, my toes were trodden on several times! I didn't get much as I have most things already but some of the sellers had some lovely items from clothes to moses baskets, baby monitors, books and some snazzy pushchairs at half price or less. There were definitely bargains to be had. My favourite purchase was a boxed and unopened 200ml bottle of Bio Oil for ?5 as mine had just run out :) Not knowing whether I'm having a boy or girl makes shopping a little tricky as the selection of non pink/blue items is limited.
  15. Hi All, Saturday 28th September would be better for me. I start my hypnobirthing course on 6th October. Oh well I guess I can aim for a future one. There'll always be someone who can't make it. x
  16. Yes, even though I have almost everything already, I plan to waddle down and take a look :)
  17. I can recommend Sarah also. Friendly and efficient service: 07886990081
  18. I can recommend Sarah who does this type of service, quick turnaround and very reasonable: 07886 900 081
  19. I've bought two of these. One in my current flat and one in the spare room I use when visiting my parents. Both I've had for around 5yrs and are still in A1 condition. Robust, decent and good looking furniture. They hold loads as drawers are quite deep. Can't go wrong in my opinion.
  20. Hi Vez - welcome! I have put my name down for the NHS prenatal classes at Dulwich Hospital. Been assured they're good enough. @TheShellys - I'm unsure at this stage whether I'll be living in Dulwich or Catford in October/November so will see what dates they give me. It should be easy enough to go onto an NCT in Dulwich or Forest Hill nearer the time if needed. I can only do 1 or 2 times per week due to mine and OH's work committments. Have a good weekend all!
  21. Hi TheShelleys - welcome! I am very sure you're not alone with your feelings. I am feeling the pressure of trying to organise myself since the months appear to be whizzing rather quickly. I printed off a hospital bag check-list and will purchase one or two items each week to add (I've bought the bag). I will be moving from Dulwich to Catford in November so am also trying to make the move a smooth transition. It is overwhelming but I'm trying not to get stressed out. Roll on hynobirthing sessions!!! I'm sure they'll benefit in more ways than one.
  22. The terrace area can be reserved for sole use at Dulwich Wood House. Lots of menu options.
  23. Welcome KVT! Tara, that's fantastic news! It's reassuring to hear how thorough the scans are. We're counting down the days till our 22 week scan later this month. I got to listen to the heartbeat at the midwife appointment last week which was nice. You may be able to book onto another course and request wait-listing on another date. I have requested the nhs antenatal classes at Dulwich but haven't hear back yet. A friend of mine said they don't send confirmed dates until much nearer the time. I'll wait and see before booking the NCT classes. Hope all is well otherwise. Dx
  24. Hi Tara, The main reason I chose the classes at St Thomas's was because of the timings. Weekends are much easier for OH and myself due to work commitments. They are two full days so similar number of total hours and the cost can be spread. I also like the idea of the classes being taken by a midwife. If it wasn't for this I would defintely have booked with Hollie! Best wishes for tomorrow - I hope baby is compliant and gets in the right position for you to see everthing necessary! D x
  25. Hi ladies, Hope all is well. Tara - here's a link to the course I've booked. http://www.hypnobirthing-london.co.uk/www.hypnobirthing-london.co.uk/Welcome.html I've read many good reviews and actually found this place through an old thread on here. I had to persuade OH a bit but I gave a whole list of positives and he knows I'm not keen on the drugs available and would prefer to go natural if at all possible... All the very best for your scan tomorrow, I'm sure all will be fine! Mine is booked to be done at 22 weeks later this month so I'm having to wait longer than usual. Are you finding out what gender your baby is? I'm so tempted but also like the idea of a surprise. I'm popping along to the Orla Kiely sample sale today in Clapham to see if I can find a nice changing bag :) D x
