  1. A quick Google has brought up some local services... http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200230/domestic_violence_and_abuse/2603/domestic_abuse_and_how_to_get_help http://solacewomensaid.org/get-help/southwark/ The Solace Advocacy and Support Service provides independent advocates to support men and women aged 16 or over, affected by domestic and sexual abuse. We also provide support on safety, housing, going to court, benefits, health and immigration issues and can refer you to any relevant specialist services. We provide immediate advice and can refer women on to safe refuge accommodation, longer term advocacy support, counselling or specialist children?s services. Solace Services in: Southwark Telephone: 020 7593 1290 Email: [email protected] Hopefully you can get some specific help.

  3. Cardelia - please stop defending the lying conning deceptive b**tards that are southern rail. Just know when to hush.

Thanks, hadn't thought of that. Just to clarify - do you suggest I get up even earlier and get the over packed 8.30am train or the 9.30am train for my 9.30 work start time? I appreciate you were trying to be helpful but we're not all thickos - please don't patronise me.

I had to be smuggled out of my flat by the Met police once after I'd called the noise people and they'd had to leave on 'health and safety' grounds, due to the threats I was getting.

Rightly or wrongly, 30 minutes > is the defined cutoff point for compensation so > I'm not sure why you feel it's a con? Because a 30 minute delay on a 4 hour cross country train is a very different prospect to a 30 minute delay on what should be a 12 minute journey. I also get nothing because I don't buy a travel card, I pay as you go so whilst my bus journey is supposedly cheaper (except when I have to get a total of 3 buses like yesterday) my journey now takes 50 minutes and not 12 - there is no compensation for time lost. Thats over an hour and a half of my day gone.

It took me 3 buses to get to work today as there was a 17 minute wait between no. 40 buses. Grrrr.

I'm pleased you said this because I was convinced I got one train to H&I direct from DH only a couple of weeks ago...but it was on a Sunday, so that explains it and I'm not going nuts. Thanks!
  11. My computer is not the fastest but it usually struggles through....I am having a mare completing my compulsory online induction however...the site is not great....

Good to hear she seems to be taking the matter seriously at least. We can but wait, hope and see what the tabled debate next week brings.

  15. I'm delighted that some cyclists around here are apparently significantly less sweaty than me but as I can't cycle from Peckham to ED without being a wringing mess, I don't think I'd want to sit at my desk all day - unfortunately some of us are not lucky enough to have shower facilities.
  16. Southern have just confirmed to me on Twitter (after 6 messages asking for info) that from ED to LB there are no other services between 8.30 and 9.30. I start work in LB at 9.30 - I'm sure I'm not the only one - hard enough to get a seat on the 8.51 as it is. I don't understand how this is being allowed to happen. I have also emailed Harriet Harman, I hadn't thought about Sadiq Khan but will do so tomorrow - the more people that do, the better.
  17. How long has 'Dulwich Leisure Centre' been called this, quite clearly in East Dulwich and a stones throw from Peckham? I'm not sure its a wholly new phenomenon!
  18. I moved from Virgin to Sky Fibre broadband down Copleston Road last September - I think the Sky is much better.
  19. My point was that other shops are already open - Londis is open 24 hours...so the argument is null and void.
  20. > Crispy pig's ears? Those are for dogs........ Not any more!
  21. The focaccia with yeasted butter is amazing, as are the crispy pig ears - you can get those type of bar snacks in the downstairs bar too. Oh also, they sometimes have cornflake ice cream. It might be one of the best things I've ever tasted!
  22. Its been there years - who cares - move on and spend our tax payer money dealing with things that actually matter please.

Don't buy/rent a house next to a busy shopping street then. Its not new concept for Lordship Lane. If the co-op is already open, whats the problem with another?
  24. Ah I see - in which case I had seen something about this but hadn't realised what it was called. I'd never heard of anyone playing!
  25. I didn't know that there was a Peckham Rye Festival last weekend - I think there is probably some useful feedback in that fact alone! (and I have been in previous years). I will caveat that I had been on holiday in the week lead up and I rarely look at the whats on pages on this forum anymore. I did however know about the west Dulwich and Dulwich fairs last Saturday and Sunday and I'm generally 'the one in the know' within my social group for local stuff (I'm observant and read stuff!). I live in SE15 but near to East Dulwich Station and increasingly split my time 50/50 in ED and Peckham. Sorry to have missed it.
