  1. Hi ezma78 Had exactly the same thing at almost the exact same ages (baby now 14 weeks). I tried to ignore it, but decided I needed to try and get it sorted out as soon as possible as it was too much to cope with along with a new baby. I re-instigated a reward chart (we'd used this to good effect when first potty training) and initially had 10 squares which had to be filled with a star - when the 10 were filled my son was allowed to choose a toy as a reward (from a few options - not the entire toy shop!). He did this so quickly that he got his reward within a few days. With the next chart I put 40 squares and that's almost full. He's obviously 'been' well over 40 times since we instigated it, but both he and I/my husband have forgotten to fill in the squares quite a few times and it hasn't bothered my son. He's now taking himself off to the loo when he gets up and has only had a couple of accidents during the day, mainly when he's been mucking about or distracted by something. All seems OK at the moment, so fingers crossed. Maybe a reward chart could be an option for you too?

  3. Hi, does anyone know if the hostel on Barry Road is still accepting donations? I have had a clear out and have some baby items to donate. If anyone has Nancy's number please can you PM me it as I can then call her to find out exactly the sort of items they are after. Thanks
  4. Scooter. We have one for my 3 year old and a stroller for my 3 month old. We bought a scooter hook from JoJo Maman for when 3 year old has had enough. He also has a balance bike and a trike and has shown little to no interest in either.
  5. Any recommendations for a hotel that will accommodate (and be welcoming to a 3 year old and a 7 month old) appreciated. Thanks x
  6. I bought a Silver Cross 'POP' stoller on sale in Mothercare a few months ago (I think it's still on sale for about ?100). It's very light - too light for a small baby, but would be fine for a toddler I would think. I really like it as it's easy to manoeuvre and fold up.
  7. Hi jimnem Gaia studio (near Bellenden Road) have a mum and baby Pilates class on Tuesday mornings. http://www.gaiastudio.co.uk/gaia-weekly-class-timetable/ Not sure about post c-section but they can tell you if you call them. This would be my ideal class as 5 mins walk from my house, but I can't do Tuesdays.
  8. Thanks ladies. ad2000 - don't suppose you know if you can take babies to the session at Dulwich Fusion? I called them today to check but they didn't seem to know on reception. Jo'sEnglish - thanks, yep, I went to Kellie's Jelly Belly sessions after son #1 and am hoping to go back again, but can't start until June due to an upcoming long-haul trip. She's great isn't she! scareyt - thanks, sounds good, I'll look into it.
  9. I want to do some pilates and/or yoga following the birth of my son. However, I can only do daytimes (10-4ish) on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays as I have to be around in the late afternoon to collect my older son, and I am shattered in the evenings. Ideally the classes would be in ED, Peckham Rye or Camberwell as I don't drive and don't want to have to go to far on public transport with a pram for a class. I would need to bring my baby with me. I've done a few searches and the classes seem to either on Mondays or Tuesdays, in the evening, or adults only. If you have attended, attend, or run any classes that might fit the bill please let me know!
  10. Have to say that I tend to agree with this sentiment. I rarely post on the other sections (probably with the exception of the trades section) as it just seems to become needlessly aggressive quite quickly.
  11. We have recently been to parties at 'Colour Makes People Happy' and 'All Fired Up'. I would recommend them both. I guess you could say they are semi-hosted, i.e. someone runs the activities but you provide the food and any other entertainment that you might want.
  12. In case you were thinking of treating yourself to some maternity clothes...saves the ?3.95 delivery charge. Code is MBFREE (from this month's Mother & Baby magazine)and it is valid until September. xx
  13. Thanks everyone for the replies and PMs. Think I may order some ready-made cartons for the trip out, and take powder in dispensers for the trip back. Will also take enough in stow luggage to last the trip. Kittysailing - if you wouldn't mind asking your mum for some tips/thoughts that would be great. I actually have quite a lot of family over there but none of them would know about this sort of thing so her advice would be great.
  14. Hoping that someone can advise me on this... We are going to Melbourne in March/April when my baby son will be 4/5 months old. He is formula fed (HIPP organic milk). I think I can order travel sized cartons to pick up from Boots once we clear baggage check in London, but I am a bit worried about what to do for the return leg. HIPP isn't available in Aus, but Apatiml is so I will probably use that. If you have travelled back from Melbourne (or Aus in general) and use formula, please can you let me know how you managed? I am assuming you can do the same order/collect process as London, but don't know who to order from in Aus (maybe Priceline?), or what to do if that's not an option. Thanks in advance.
  15. Thanks for the info Mathilda.
  16. Thanks Mima - that's very helpful.
  17. Can anyone tell me what the sessions are like and if they are hard to get into? I don't really want to book lots of sessions as I can't guarantee we can attend every week, so PAYG would be good. In the week I would like to take my baby son (probably not for a few weeks, when he turns 3 months maybe), and on a weekend I would like to go with my 3 year old. I called Peckham Pulse to get more info, but the guy that answered was not massively helpful so I thought I would see if anyone recommends (or doesn't). Thanks x
  18. Thanks Mollie. Will hopefully see you tomorrow. Emma x
  19. Hi, can I bring my 3 year old along as well as my 9 week old or is it babies only?
  20. Thanks all - there are some really nice places recommended and I look forward to booking one of them! Xxx
  21. My 40th is approaching *passes out briefly* and I would like to go away for a couple of days with my husband and boys, the eldest being 3 and the youngest will be 8 months. We want to stay in the UK as we have a long haul trip planned for this year and money/annual leave will not allow for two holidays. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations? We will probably want to be away for 4 days (Thursday-Sunday) and I would like it to be somewhere special. A spa would be nice, as would a good restaurant and babysitting service so me and my OH can go out for dinner on the night. If would need to be baby/child friendly as well. Am I asking too much or does this sort of thing exist?!
  22. I'm a convert to Palmers Cocoa Butter facial range. It's cheap and cheerful but works for me. I get it from feelunique.com I find Clinique 'Even Better' foundation and their Airbrush concealer work well. They also have a nice creamy pencil eyeliner which always makes me look as if I have made a bit of an effort but only takes 20 seconds to apply. I also feel better when I think my hair looks OK. I used to love Tigi's Oatmeal & Honey shampoo & conditioner, and have just seen that they have started selling it again (they discontinued it for a while for some reason) and now also have a deep conditioner as well. I will be stocking up on the tween sizes! I also have a professional Parlux hairdryer which is the size of a speed gun and has the power of a rocket launcher so that I can dry my hair quickly but get a sleek-ish result. Also have GHD's but only use sparingly due to an unfortunate fringe-breaking-off due to overuse in my teens...
  23. I'd second paspic. Have had both of my sons passport photos done with them. They check the photos comply with the regs for the passport you need and blank out the background for you if needed. I got 8 photos of my 7 week old done a few weeks ago and it was just under ?10. Photos took about 2 days to arrive.
