  1. I thought they were great, really enjoyed them. Only lasted barely an hour, no great problem surely?
  2. Hi Edhitory, I saw an advert from The Sherbourne Trust looking for new tenants.
  3. We dropped in at 3.00 this afternoon for a spot of late lunch - didn't feel pressured to sit in any particular part of the pub and a party of six arrived and soon decamped to the 'seated' bit. I trust the staff will play it by ear whether they need to keep a dining bit or not. Anyway, we had the terrine and crab on toast - really good quality food, up to comparison with our regular The Montpelier in Peckham. Beer is well kept too.
  4. We live on the Nunhead side of Peckham Rye - heard the chopper then looked out on the balcony and saw all the bikes heading south with police cars in hot pursuit - hope they all got rounded up.
  5. I haven't had children and have had a Myrena both fitted (brief pain but little after effects) then removed after five years (a fortnight ago) due to no fault of its own and it was pain free apart from a short sharp uncomfortable tug. It was great having no periods and I am now pretty much post menopausal with very few side effects apart from the odd hot flush and a bit of dryness easily sorted through a topical cream. It was fitted to deal with extremely heavy periods and was a Godsend.
  6. Opening times, menus etc. here http://thecherrytreedulwich.co.uk/
  7. Mine was when I was 18, first year at Stirling University at the Qismat, in 1980...never looked back, love curries, eating them and making them.
  8. I live in a 2007 new build and the sound proofing is excellent, much better than the Victorian conversion I lived in previously.
  9. Have been in The Prince Albert a couple of times since the makeoever and like it - at the moment a haven on a Saturday night!
  10. So everything is shaping up rather nicely....
  11. Yes, yes, yes, every time - worth every penny.
  12. We have replaced our wool carpets with wooden floors - the carpets had been nibbled to buggery in hidden places before we realised what was happening!
  13. It was felled months ago, it was a very sickly horse chestnut - a sad loss but necessary I think. I live in Aura Court so have observed its decline over the last few years.
  14. Some of our local 'craft' beers aren't jumping on the strength bandwagon so much - Brickhouse Brewery and Late Knights Brewery for starters. The Ivy House usually have a good selection of local beers on.
  15. Yup.
  16. Chadwick Road now offer a telephone consult if there are no appointments and if you need to be seen they will see you that afternoon. I have always found the receptionists helpful, given they have an inflexible system to work with.
  17. As one of the 'toffs' (hoho) living in the 9 year old Aura Court development on the East side of Peckham Rye I can tell you the tree that was felled was a horse chestnut that has been getting sicker and sicker from the virus that has been infecting horse chestnuts all over the country. It was a shame to see it go and I hope that a replacement tree is planted in due course, but in the last year it barely had any flower or fruit on it.
  18. Looks like they are taking over the fantastic furniture shop - will be interesting to see how they settle down amongst the established traders...
  19. Guinea pigs are ideal - friendly, very easy to handle, rarely bite (we had 20 at one time!), clean, make the most adorable noises when they are happy, and live for around five years.
  20. You have my utmost sympathies, but given the proximity of Denmark Hill to A&E I would have thought it would have taken longer to get an ambulance than to nip down and borrow a wheelchair anyway.
  21. The Ivy House re-opened over a year ago Steveo and Grace03 - you really have to be trying to spend over ?5 a pint, average is ?4.
  22. Ive House open until 2.00am, no charge.
  23. This thread seems to have crystalized into Louise and Dulwich Fox against everyone else? Which must indicate something...places change, people change, we live in one of the most vibrant, burgeoning diverse cities in the world. If you really dislike what is happening round here then yes, realise your assets and move to Nantwich.
  24. Well said Woodleigh.
